Aoyama, Osore of the Aoyama Clan
HAIR: Black, but shaved
EYES: White due to congenital blindness, usually not seen.
HEIGHT: 5' 5"
BODY TYPE: Very good looking appearance-wise, though keeps his eyes closed almost all the time. Very thin, not a lot of body mass.
STYLE: When not wearing the mandatory school uniform, and depending on the occasion, Osore has two outfits, similar in color scheme, but varied in how lavish they are. His day to day outfit is a purple cloak that covers his face, as well as white, tattered pants and no shoes. He carries a simple dark ironwood staff to help him get around as an aid to help his blindness. His more formal attire dresses him in a cloak made of several layers of expensive fabric, all shades of purple, that includes embroidered symbols and gold tassels. He carries a 'dressy' cane that is made of a sanded and polished Ironwood branch, it has several bands of red resin embossed on the top half of the staff, and a handle forged of iron wrapped around and covered with studded resins of different colors. The cost of this outfit ranges into the tens of thousands of ryo, but is suited for court wear to be seen next to even the highest officials.
OTHER: No matter what outfit he has, he always carries a deck tarot cards. They were specially made for him by including braille on them.
Osore is a loyal type of person who stands by the government strongly, though he considers himself too good for commoner activities such as combat, so he avoids it if he can. He uses his abilities to avoid combat on a large scale by convincing the people that they are depressed, fearful, or some other emotion. He believes whole heatedly that his relic's abilities are not caused by a relic, but by his own divine abilities given to him by the scripture of the book. This causes him to have a high opinion of himself, as well as high confidence in his abilities.
STRENGTHS: Very good control over his own emotions. High confidence in his relic abilities.
WEAKNESSES: Blind since birth, low physical strength. Sees himself above normal people, including other scions. Very weak combat ability due to low strength and no skill, also the whole blind thing.
LIKES: Enjoys places that normally cause people to be uncomfortable such as graveyards and abandoned shrines. Also enjoys doing fortune telling tricks using his illusion relic abilities.
DISLIKES: Dislikes the idea of having to work, fight, or do other manual labor. These are seen by him as beneath his status.
AMBITIONS: To continue the practice of Onmyodo and to promote it's use for political advisement. Onmyodo had been absorbed into Shinto, and was eventually banned by an Emporer, but a large portion of it remained in a secret book.
WEAPON: Wooden Staff made of Ironwood (has two of them, but only carries one at a time)
RELIC: An old leather grimoire with very old pages describing Onmyodo and Buddhist rituals, demons, spirits, and divination techniques. Written by Sūden, Ishin.
RELIC OWNER: Sūden, Ishin
OWNER HISTORY: 1569–1633, AKA: Sūden, Konchiin. Was a key part in the establishment of the Tokugawa Shogunate, by keeping track of diplomatic relations with foreign powers in a book. He was also in charge of the administration of Shinto and Buddhist temples. For a complete list of his accomplishments, click here.
ACTIVATED ABILITY 1: Psychometry- The ability to obtain information about a person or object, usually by touch. When holding an object Osore can read the owner's name, personality, likes, dislikes, and ambitions, background, and other information depending on how personal the object is. Example: A relic will give the most information, a weapon a middle amount, but a simple article of clothing will only produce a name and some other very basic information.
ACTIVATED ABILITY 2: Minor Illusion - Can cause an illusion that isn't as grand as his awakened ability. These can produce sights, smells, sounds, and feelings (both physical and emotional). The effects last for up to 4 posts depending on the energy put into the illusion, and how many people were effected. More people and more energy, the shorter the illusion.
LOCKED ACTIVATED ABILITY 3: Ancestral Shamblers - Osore's only offensive attack. He summons up to three semi-sentient skeletons from the ground. These skeletons are dressed in decaying leather samurai armor, but otherwise vary slightly in appearance. They are sentient to the point of being able to identify and walk towards enemies. They cannot attack except by self destruction explosion that damages people close enough to them. These explosions destroy the skeleton.
PASSIVE 1: Third Eye / Fox Fire - A red eye made of pure energy is able to be opened. It rests about an inch in front of the middle of is forehead, and cannot be seen if closed.
3 'spirit flames', known as a fox fires, follow him around. They can be a few different colors, and change when they reform. They keep him from running into walls and help him avoid very obvious danger by pushing against him. They are solid, soft, and cold to the touch, and can be destroyed, but reform a few posts later near Osore. They emit strange whisper sounds, and when idol tend to be curious like goldfish. They float towards people, but attempt to quickly retreat if reached for, though can be unsuccessful in dodging.
LOCKED PASSIVE 2: Levitation- Allows him to levitate, but only above solid ground (no water). He can levitate around two feet off the ground, and cannot adjust how high he is. If he could walk there, he could levitate there instead. Due to rules set down by the administrators, he is unable to use this ability in the school building.
LOCKED AWAKENED MODE COLOR: None.
AWAKENED ATTACK: Causes a VERY realistic illusion to any targets. This illusion can be almost anything and is up to the Osore as to what truly occurs. Note that this is an illusion and cannot cause REAL physical harm, though the person can feel pain.
BACKGROUND: Osore grew up in a secure, wealthy family who owns a well known graveyard in Edo. His father, head priest of the graveyard, often had Osore accompany him during his work, taking care of the graveyard, the shrine, or doing ceremonies for the recently deceased. Though blind, Osore was intent on going out and about by himself, and exploring the graveyard, seeming to be happiest when he was among the silent tombs and rocks. One evening as he was walking down a trail in the graveyard, he heard whispering near the storage of his family's house. No one should have been around the area, so Osore decided to go and check it out.
The door to the very old shed was open, and the smell of a musty basement was wafting out of it. He would carefully place his staff through the doorway to make sure the area was clear, and he slowly tapped out a safe path to enter. The whispers were louder, and Osore announced his presence. "This is the storehouse of the Aoyama Graveyard. As a member of the family, I demand you leave this storage area!" Everything was quiet. He felt as though it may have been a restless spirit or random intruder who was simply looking for something to steal, and that they had left so he turned to leave.
Behind him the noise of something sliding, some strange whispers, and then a loud thump of leather on stone. Osore jumped slightly before turning around and tapping excitedly with his cane. It soon thumped into the side of the book. His relic. A grimoire written long ago about a section of Shinto religion that dealt with spirits, demons, and divination. Osore carefully touched the book to identify it, finding that it had old pages and obviously old leather binding. There were textures on the book that he couldn't identify for the moment, so he picked it up and brought it back with him to his father.
Over the next few years, his powers manifested from the relic. Little by little, and his father read to him from the book when they had time, and Osore memorized every line, learning how the book explained spirits and how the human mind worked compared to the way science explained it. Osore toyed with his new abilities, and his family eventually understood what exactly was going on. Just as they did, a representative of the school arrived, and sat the three of them down to tell them that Osore was a special person who was required to attend a special school that wasn't far away. The representative asked Osore what his interests were, and after the stories and instructions he heard from the book, he realized that he was supposed to be seated next to the Shogun himself as a line of defense and adviser. Thus his journey to becoming a political adviser began.
