Sengoku Horizon

Look towards the Horizon

The Warring States Period: Fierce warlords fought for control of Japan, and many would perish. When a warrior falls, where does the passion they once held go? Possibly into something dear such as a favorite weapon or heirloom. These heirlooms have been labeled as “relics”, and those that carry them are labeled as “Scions." Recently more and more of these special relics have been activating, signaling the start of a great change as ancient power meets the modern world!

Now For The Local News, 06/01/2018 The Chinese delegation have now arrived at the city of Edo. Making friends and learning about Edo Culture is their current aim! In other news it is also time for the school dance event! Please bring your characters along!

The room is largely quiet, for the most part. Here, at the location of the Art Club, one corner was taken up by several papers, pencils, and measuring tools. At first glance, it all appeared to be a bunch of to-scale diagrams of a room and human characteristics. What room and what person? It was unlabeled, a careful eye would be able to tell that it was the auditorium for the school. Sitting among these materials with a post-it note on his shoulder was Roshi Bento.

As far as most people who knew Roshi could tell, the young artist was a right and proper goofball, but the truth of it was...even though that was true, that isn't ALL there was to him. He had gone through alot of changes. Since the beginning, he'd lost friends and regained one of them when it turned out she wasn't dead, he'd been to dangerous missions and war, he'd loved and he was currently not sure what the status of that was. But does the possibility of a turn-down bring down this guy? Hell no! He didn't sit there in some kind of personal stew. He was planning a grand act for all to see.

It's what he did. It's what it's like to be Roshi. Much of what he planned was completed now. He'd gotten the help he needed AND the materials, but there was one thing missing. This was going to be the best thing ever, but even if he did that, he needed one more thing. No, check that. It wasn't a thing at all. It was a person... Roshi pulled the post-it note off of his shoulder, looking it over.
  • Rent Nice Suit
  • Make Long Cape
  • Get Zipline
  • Find A Date
That last one... Nobu was already asking Suishoku to the dance. He didn't know who else to ask. He didn't feel comfortable asking Makoto or Mirai. He wasn't going to ask Kurome - provided he could find the ninja-girl - even if Kai wasn't in town. Too much respect for those two. He wasn't sure that this was Tagami's scene either. He could be wrong, but it didn't seem likely to him. Roshi had to think about this. He knew a number of girls, but the ones he knew on the personal level weren't going to work out.

He pulled out his phone and logged into the Bugei's site. Generally, when he wanted to find something out about someone at the school, there was easy-to-find information publically available, or at least to other students. He wasn't sure how it worked, except that it did. There had to be someone who would fit the bill. To match Nobu at his game, he needed someone at the Noble level, but who? Roshi ran a check according to some of his own interests and...hmmm. 'Sanada, Hana'...a member of the Cultural Club. Wait. That was like...next door.

SHOOM! Roshi was fast, as is, but after the Edo War with the Ikko Ikki, he put himself through some personal training to focus his improvisational performance into real skill. The papers scattered as he leapt to his feet and thrust the door open, literally dashing to the Cultural Club room... He almost literally screeched to a halt and slid open the door with a sudden whirl, a spin in place. Roshi looked inside, giving any viewer a look at this casually-dressed Roshi getting a look in this room, perhaps for the first time.

"Hiyo! Is Hana in today?"

So, it went like this: Sometimes, you wonder where it is your cat goes when it leaves for the day, especially when it thinks you're not looking. Cats are independent creatures, like humans, only with far less shame. When you think about it, it has to be like that. They walk around naked, wash themselves in public, and don't really care whose property they wander into. It's how they roll and they just don't give a damn.

Today's little venture features two figures heading down the street. The first is kind of a grey tabby with a compact body, legs and tail that seem short for the body-size involved. He's moving along quite a number of feet ahead of one Makoto Shiyo, owner and operator of said cat. She is a physically-fit short-haired brunette with glasses who - sadly - feels compelled to cover the scars she obtained in an earthquake with long sleeves and socks with her hiking boots. Those boots were getting their use today, though.

You see, this all started with her little brother, Kenji, having a look at their departing cat and wondering where he goes...which he couldn't follow because the cat, Shorty, kept going into other people's properties. You see? No shame or regard for other people's boundaries. Kenji couldn't follow. He was just a kid, AND he was polite. Makoto was generally polite too, but she was also a Scion with decent physical training. She could follow.

And that's what she was doing now, just following her cat and seeing where he goes.

This is a test to see if tags have been fixed. It doubles as a mission notification, because I did not tag your mission on the board, like usual.

Foreign Priest!
May 4 2018, 12:17 PM
A long journey from Edo... First, to the trains, traveling to the southernmost stop on the main line. Then, to catch a boat that is scheduled to ferry them from the mainland to that of the island of Kyushu itself. Finally, there would be a car waiting for them to take them yet further south. The train ride itself would give them plenty of time to consider the impact of the mission. Perhaps the more the merrier, as they were indeed headed for one student's province of origin.

The mission stated that in Kyushu, there was a foreign priest proclaiming that the spirit of the Shimabara Rebellion should not be forgot, that Japan can yet still become a Christian nation and that the people should rise up and break all of Kyushu away from Japan as the first step towards converting this land. However, it would be clear by the tickets the two Bugei members were handed where they were headed, if not by the instructions that followed after. The priest was hitting the people where the effect would be most heartfelt: Hige Province, the area most open to Christianity in Japan. With that area as the center of his focus and outlying provinces gradually worked on, the possibility of conversion and rebellion greatly concerned the Shogunate.

Since it was the Konishi Clan itself that reported on this incident, there was no concern for Viola that she would have to fight her own people. They followed the religion for the sake of it, not because they want to reform the nation. That is dangerous thinking, right there, the reason this must be suppressed. Because of this were to be pursued to its logical conclusion, the Konishis would be considered highly-suspicious themselves. In effect, by reporting this, they were calling for help before this became a true crisis in their area. Viola was not alone in this endeavour. With her was Shinsuke, of the Todo Clan. Where a weapon's edge may not be useful, a diplomat may be just as dangerous, as this may become a war of words and beliefs more than that of the sword and gun.

A long train trip, a more brief ride upon a ferry, and they were in the Northern section of Kyushu. As the two of them exited the docks, they would find what they expected: A couple of men with a car. Not warriors. The Konishi Clan broke tradition in more ways than one. Less trade and more farming, the worship of the Christian God, and a focus on female samurai. These men were servants of the Konishi Clan, their cross-like emblems clearly visible. They both gave the two arrivals a respectful bow before one of them spoke.

"It's good of you come on such short notice. Though the Clan remains largely untouched by this man's words, there are those among the people who feel a certain unrest at the mention of Shimabara, remembering a government that turned its back on the word of the lord. There are those who will even shout openly that the Konishi Clan should make the push this mad priest is calling for, to rebel against the whole of Japan!"

This man was deeply concerned, and no less the one standing beside him, though he kept it more under control as he indicated with his hand for the other to calm himself.

"We must bring you to the capital. We don't know where it is this man hides himself when not speaking to the public, but he has been seen in the area, preaching his word to the public. The people who believe in him shield him from being arrested. Normal measures will not work, not unless we wish to harm friend and foe alike, and that would be the worst..."

He gestured to the car, a sleek black sedan that was roomy inside.

"Come. Let us be on our way."

I've taken the time to post in places where my posts are owed, as I prepare to head off to a convention for the weekend. I tend not to be online at the time, since my focus is really on the con, and I prefer it there to take it all in.

The two things of importance that I can think of, as I go, are thus:

{1} For anyone wondering, I haven't posted in the Kaga Party because I'm specifically in a conversation with Kai there, so I have to wait for him.

{2} My first class topic is waiting on Shoy, at this time. If anyone sees her, poke at her until a reply is made, please.

I'll be back after it's over!
