Sengoku Horizon

Look towards the Horizon

The Warring States Period: Fierce warlords fought for control of Japan, and many would perish. When a warrior falls, where does the passion they once held go? Possibly into something dear such as a favorite weapon or heirloom. These heirlooms have been labeled as “relics”, and those that carry them are labeled as “Scions." Recently more and more of these special relics have been activating, signaling the start of a great change as ancient power meets the modern world!

Now For The Local News, 02/17/2018 The Chinese delegation have now arrived at the city of Edo. They have come to learn more about the state of Japan, the Shogunate, and it's Scions. We will be having a Lunar New Year's celebration, a school dance, and a combat tournament with them!

The Headmaster of Edo Bugei looked deeply concerned. Over the past few months he had been going over various documents collected from the Ikko Ikki's attack on the city of Edo. This included student, Shogunate, and civilian reports. Out of all of them one report seemed particularly problematic. Sakuma, Eiji had apparently caused quite a lot of concern during his fight against the English speaking student. His death threats and absolute rage seemed also psychotic according to the reports the Headmaster had received.

It seemed that not only had the boy escaped with the scythe of the defeated Englishman, a possible relic, but also seemed to discord his persona he had taken on during the fight. It was as though the savage Eiji the headmaster had heard about was completely removed from the regular student. Regardless of how he looked at it, it was very troubling and he needed to speak with Eiji about the occurrence.

Thus, after school on a Thursday, a short message was sent to Eiji calling him to the Headmaster's office. The headmaster would be sitting in his office in a long, black ronin style outfit with beautiful white and red flowers on it as he waited for the boy to enter his large, well decorated office.

A war memorial stood in Edo. It was a memorial for all those that had died while fighting against the Ikko Ikki last year. One memorial had been made in every part of Edo and this memorial currently sat in the Central Edo park around the Shogun's castle. It was a beautiful amber stone equal in size to about seven men in the shape of a beautiful bird coming out of an egg. It was meant to symbolize Edo rising back up. Around the base of the egg, carved into beautiful white marble one could read the names of various townspeople, officials, and students that had lost their lives fighting the Ikko.

Two very unlikely people stood near one another looking at this memorial. One of them was Soujuro. A metsuke who worked in Western Edo. He had a young daughter he worked hard to put through school, and was often seen in dirt robes due to giving all of his money to her education. Due to most of this comrades parishing in the Earthquake and Ikko attacks the past two years had seen a rapid number of advancements up the Metsuke ranks for the still dirty looking samurai. Placing flowers in front of the memorial he said a prayer to Buddha and gave a deep bow to the names of his fallen comrades. The same ones that had always mocked him now felt missed, since he knew he would never see them again.

Behind him was one of the Chinese students and the inheritor of Xiahou Dun, Yiting. It was rare to see her away from her lord Zihao, but today the strong looking woman had come to see the famous memorial to the fallen and read their names. Back in China she was considered an upper class warrior and deep in her heart she respect others who gave their lives for their lords and their country. She thought while visiting Edo, the least she could do was visit various memorials. After all, word of the Edo Battle had quickly reached China's nobility and warriors alike. Some of them even jealous they could not fight off the Ikko terrorists themselves.

Fangyuan Yen gazed out at Edo from the school grounds of Edo Bugei Academy. She had been asked to meet this morning by a person from the docks named Ripley so that she could be, quote unquote, "Properly shown around Edo". Whatever that meant the girl didn't know but here she was. She had a meeting with others later but that wasn't for a little while and she certainly wouldn't mind a guided tour of the city.

Part of her reason for coming to Edo had been to learn more about the state of Japan, it's Shogunate, and it's people, and this would likely provide all three. She had on a nice outfit of a read shirt with a golden phoenix across the front and some black jeans. It wasn't grand but she also didn't wish to stand out too much. She also currently had on her favorite set of large headphones around her neck.

As she texted with friends back at Beijin's academy she waited on Ripley to arrive and explain their battle plan for this tour around the city.

Haruno Yuuki, an elite student of tremendous talent. During the Ikko incident she had been away from Edo Bugei but had returned with the new year. She was an elite students who was believed to come from a ninja clan or tremendous prestige and her grades showed it. Some called her an angel among the Bugei students due to her perfect, long black hair and always clean uniform. Tonight was no exception as she had her elite uniform on and her black sheathed katana at her side. Standing next to her, almost like a ghost by comparison, the elite sniper Kiryu Rai. Rai almost never talked and even now most of her body was covered except for her piercing eyes.

It was odd to see the two together, but both of them certainly looked both lovely and terrifying in their own ways. As usually when they got together Yuuki was speaking about how drab everything was and how everything failed to meet her high standards while a rather bored looking Rai nodded along next to her. Many guys looked at the two and joked about hitting on them, however it was also well known that both women could easily kill a man without a second thought. Truly, it would take a real idiot to dare to approach them, and especially to hit on them.

Chiyo and Eiko Tokugawa. The two most important daughters of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Two princesses known by everyone in and around Edo for their smiles and beauty. Tonight, to welcome the new year, both currently dressed in beautiful robes, Chiyo in green and Eiko in a light red, to meet with their brother Jun. It had been a while since the three had gotten together and both girls still resented how little they could do to aid their brothers in the final battle of Edo's invasion.

Jun had missed his sisters and asked if they would like to join him for new years, something that neither wished to refuse. Growing up Jun had always been less favored than his brother Kenji, but that didn't mean the two loved either brother more or less. Inheritance didn't matter to the two since obviously neither of them had to worry about being Shogun someday. Instead the two focused more on making sure their brothers where alright. Even when Tokugawa officials bickered about which of the Shogun's sons they liked more, the sisters did their best to comfort both boys. It was how they had been, and how they likely always would be.

For this evening, they currently waited in Central Edo among the townspeople for their brother. Neither of them actually had the nerve to go to Eastern Edo, mostly out of fear of the Yakuza. However, they also refused to spend all of the evening of the new year cooped up in Edo's castle grounds.
