Sengoku Horizon

Look towards the Horizon

The Warring States Period: Fierce warlords fought for control of Japan, and many would perish. When a warrior falls, where does the passion they once held go? Possibly into something dear such as a favorite weapon or heirloom. These heirlooms have been labeled as “relics”, and those that carry them are labeled as “Scions." Recently more and more of these special relics have been activating, signaling the start of a great change as ancient power meets the modern world!

Now For The Local News, 02/17/2018 The Chinese delegation have now arrived at the city of Edo. They have come to learn more about the state of Japan, the Shogunate, and it's Scions. We will be having a Lunar New Year's celebration, a school dance, and a combat tournament with them!

Probably a relic, they’d done all that crap for probably. What a load of junk that was. He was. Not pleased to say the least, even as a sword enthusiast, this was all a bit much for Kire to swallow. After all, other swords of the time were available without desecrating a murder tomb. Well, so be it, if there were doubts about the sword there could be doubts about the rest of it.

“Sir,” Kire began, “this wasn’t the only thing. The Ikko know about this place, obviously. They could be wondering why the first team hasn’t come back.” Kire clenched his hands together. “In the pit was also a suit of armor, some clothing, as well as medicinal herbs though the that last bit probably isn’t worth all that much.”

Kire wasn’t sure how they found relics, especially before they were active, however if that way only pinpointed location and an educated guess was made...the rest of it had just as much chance. Plus there were the more nefarious uses. The Ikko seemed pretty crap and poorly led but surely their leaders were at least as clever as he.

“At the very least, the clan ought to be informed to go and get what remains or guard it lest the Ikko gain valuable historical and clan significance that could be used to manipulate or even blackmail.” He wasn’t going to state that anyone would do anything too rash outright, but look at Mister Clan Print Boxer Shorts right beside him. People did crazy things for the clans, and crazier things for their ancestors.

But, in the end, it wasn’t his business anymore. Kire had said his piece and was perfectly willing to turn his back and forget about the entire cave. They’d be home free and warm soon enough, let the Metsuke handle things, he was just a smith. So, with a free conscience, Kire left the train.

RPC POST

“At the very least, the clan ought to be informed to go and get what remains or guard it lest the Ikko gain valuable historical and clan significance that could be used to manipulate or even blackmail.” Nobuyori paused at Kire's words. He really had thought that Kire didn't care about clans, literally at all. Yet here he was actively stating that the clans should know both to protect the ruins and to defend themselves. For a brief moment it brought a smile to the future clan leader's face. It was hard to imagine someone like Kire wasting words. Thus when he said all that he had clearly meant it.

"I agree with him, Ajibana-sama. I think it is only fair the Shimazu are informed of Ikko in their lands, and that the Tachibana are made aware of the sword's recovery from its' resting place." he said with a clear look of defiance in his eyes. It wasn't a casual request, but a statement from the young Azai implying that he was fully planning on sending messages to the clans themselves if the Shogunate didn't. After all if someone recovered a tribute to Lord Nagamasa left by Lady Oichi, or one of Nagamasa's daughters, then surely their would be hell to pay if the Azai weren't informed of such a relic's existence.

With this in mind Nobuyori stood up and gave a very polite bow.
"Thank you for seeing us back to Edo. However we are both extremely tired and need our rest. I hope you will bid us leave." he said. Though again, it was all for show since Kire had just proceeded out of the train and back to Edo himself. Nobuyori followed, and soon returned to his own dorm.

Arriving back home the young Azai didn't even shower. His clothing was stripped and his body found it's natural place under the covers of his bed. He had slept on the train, but it wasn't a proper rest, in his own bed. In a few hours he would wake up and eat proper food, but for now, the prince of the Azai clan slept.

NPC POST

Senior Official Ajibana looked a bit stunned by the boys. He could hardly blame them, given everything they had gone through, but both spoke extremely bunt about the situation. It was clear to the Senior that the two of them hadn't merely thought of completing the mission and getting a reward, but had also managed to consider the long term impacts of not only the sword, but everything else within the cave.

As Kire made his suggestion he wasn't bound to stick around long, and with an explanation and apology Nobuyori also left. Leaving Ajibana himself with the recovered sword and tablet as the train doors closed and it began to circle back towards the Shogun's castle in Central Edo. With a brief sigh Ajibana took out a cell phone and day planner. Looking up the numbers of connections within the Shogunate, as well as the Shimazu and Tachibana clans, he began writing. While he certainly wasn't happy with how blunt the boys had been he was willing to excuse it given all of the information they had brought back to him, as well as the two possible artifacts in front of him.

He would honor the boy's requests. After all if the Shimazu or Tachibana found out from the Azai it would cause quite a bit of distrust towards the Shogunate, something already rampant in Kyushu since the days of old.

Meanwhile, as the boys recovered at Edo Bugei letters would arrive for them a few days later. In a rather lengthy letter Ajibana explained how rude they had both been but that he was willing to chalk it up to how tired the two must have been after their long journey. He also then thanked them, and stated that he had contact the Shimazu so they could be on high alert, as well as the Tachibana so that they could request an expedition into Shimazu lands to examine the ruins left behind by their ancestors. Inside also contained attached statements from the Tachibana clan expressing deep gratitude towards the boys and their eternal thanks. At the very end of the letter would be a short message from the Headmaster commending them, and then a tally of their current shop credits.

Over all, aside from offending one of the most powerful men in Edo, it was clear that both boys had done extremely well, and deserved the praise they had then received.
