Originally it was dirty blonde, but it varies based on when he last got it died.
Skinny and Effeminate
Yemon dresses different based on the day. He's not afraid to confuse people by wearing women's clothing. He also usually has a very flamboyant style. Preferring vests and ties along with hats to most other outfits.
Yemon has double jointed shoulder blades.

TRAITS

Yemon is quiet, when not fighting. He knows how dangerous words can be so he tends to stray away from them when he has no need or want to fight. That and talking, makes you noticeable. He keeps to very basic and unassuming questions in order to keep conversations vague unless he’s information gathering. Yemon's personality is defined by his innate lack of worry and his tenancy to not really judge anyone. He gets his work done, at a leisurely pace and tends to miss deadlines that seem trivial or boring. He just sort of goes with the flow as much as he can because that's far more normal for him than being too emotionally involved. Yemon can be found frequently relaxing, or looking for something to stifle his boredom. Which comes and goes at set intervals based on what is going on around him. He does not calculate things, he just acts, preferring not to think. The young man is more philosopher than anything else and tends to keep himself moving time and time again. Yemon also tends to relax more than not and has a very different set of beliefs from most people. Yemon has a natural problem with authority, preferring to ignore anything and everything for the fact that he really doesn't care what people tell him. Not because he doesn't get his work done or because he dislikes authority, he just doesn't feel the need or want to deal with things like that. They seem almost distant and beneath him. It comes from his relaxed attitude. Most people want everyone to get up and do as much as they can, but he has no real motivation. Or at least, he has motivation and does things he wants to do. He will spend hours honing a skill or muscle movement if he thinks it's something that is useful or interesting. Though, if you ask him to rescue a cat, he would probably respond with the cat should get a new owner. Finally, Yemon lives by the idea that fear makes you smart. Only stupid people aren't scared of things. After all, people who are fearless make careless actions. So, while he's good at hiding and not showing it, Yemon relies on intuition a lot more than most and doesn't prefer to get into fights with anything or anyone he doesn't have to or doesn't know anything about. He prefers to talk his way out of situations, though a lot of times that simply is him being as bored as possible until the problem goes away.
Yemon's biggest strengths are his fear and innate lack of worry. They define his personality the most because they make him calm and perpetually bored.
Yemon's biggest weaknesses are his inability to overcome lack of motivation without consequence and his issues with authority.
Yemon likes Fishing, Ice Cream, Frequent Cat Naps, fighting dirty, and anything else that he finds interesting.
Yemon dislikes people that like to hear themselves talk, anything long-winded, and authority.
Yemon doesn't have a defined ambition, he's a little young for that.

COMBAT

If you'd like to be a traditional student you may delete everything in this section after "weapon"
[
Yemon uses a Zweihander
, with a set of lodge-style arming hooks. His combat style is very dynamic, using the fact that his weapon is designed for full body momentum versus concise striking. His combat style is closer to European martial combat than eastern fluid martial arts. He always wears at least one armored glove, because grabbing other people's swords is a very useful combat tactic, especially against the normal contextual use of a katana. If most katana wielders were like water, Yemon's like a freight train. He fights dirty and annoying.

Yemon's fighting style is less footwork and concise strikes, more sword parries and counter-strokes. Where an iado practitioner or a katana wielder aim for specific locations with their blades designed for less parrying and defense, along with the folded metal. Yemon is used to fighting combat styles that mimic kendo and iado and uses a more European approach to martial combat. He will grab virtually any sword that is leveled or pointed at him, because that's an easy way to get an advantage. Martial Combat with a long blade involves more vector changes in attack angles than katana styles. Yemon knows that it's a blade, applying tons of force is not really necessary. It also leads to over-swings and the potential for specific counter-strokes. He fights by using most of his body, and grappling into a definitive attack. One of his favorite moves includes actually kicking the blade into the hamstring of his opponent while holding their weapon. This is all because Yemon isn't actually that strong.

Getting more in-depth, Yemon has started using the physics of swords to win against more difficult opponents who have advantages like speed and strength. The point of a flexible, cutting blade is have that extra parry into counter-stroke momentum because they were originally designed to combat other swords, and to get in range of pole-arms. Yemon still uses this idea, preferring to use the flexibility and contrast of a weapon designed to parry rather than the hard cutting that a folded katana is made for.
• Akawaga Kei (Father) :: Kei is a well built muscular gentleman and has the skin tone of a fisherman. He weighs in at a decent two thirty and most of it is muscle because a lot of the water and fat he puts on get sweat out working on his fishing boat and on the docks with Asami. He's currently forty eight years old as him and Asami didn't decide to have children until she was thirty-five.
• Akawaga Asami (Mother) :: Asami, is the polar opposite of Yemon's body type. Yemon's mother is strong, well-framed, with a enlarged jaw-line and a scowl that makes most children run and hide. She has a muscular frame from the years working at the docks and is fifty years old, making her two years older than Yemon's father. She actually dislikes being near the beach when not working, and has more issues with altitude than the sway of the sea. She's also afraid of heights.
• Johan Saint (Mentor) :: Johan Saint is a smuggler. He lies, cheats, steals, uses a long-blade and a pair of pistols. He met Yemon's father when they were both around seventeen and it was the first time he had ran goods to Japan. Sadly, he began the relationship by threatening to kill Kei if he didn't use his fishing boat to meet him when he needed to dump some cargo. Johan is good at gambling, and has a lot of scars, which includes two bullet wounds from encounters with other ships. He is not proficient in naval combat, preferring to leave the naval combatant instructions to his first mate and helmsman.
BACKGROUND:
Yemon's background is boring and basic. He was born to a fisherman and a dock worker, in fact both of his parents are pretty bad ass and he's a shrimp. He grew up learning how to fish from his parents and work on ships, other than that he really had an uninteresting childhood apart from the usual primary school, fishing with his parents, and his frequent boat rides. His father, Kei, was the opposite of Yemon. Though not in a bad way. He was far louder than most of the other kids parents, preferring to raise Yemon with a loud proverb rather than a stern fist or an iron resolve. Yemon believes it is where he got his philosophy from. Though because his father was gone most of the time before he woke up, Yemon actually got to spend more time with his parents than other children. Yemon's dad was done with work before the afternoon on most days to make for the good early fishing. His mother, being a dockworker, was pretty much done after unloading most of the boats before lunch. He was lucky, though his mother and father were never good at cooking. They always seemed to burn stuff they cooked, which actually annoyed Yemon quite a bit during his youth.

Yemon's father had a friend who used to run smuggling operations into the port nearby and he was the one who both taught Yemon how to wield a long-blade. Yemon found these weapons much more interesting than the ones that normal Japanese children were accustomed too. Mainly because Yemon had learned about metal flexibility being used to fishing and found that he enjoyed the idea of correctly bladed weapons more interesting than anything else around. This was the bigger disconnect that made Yemon annoyed with authority. While Johan and Kei were always around teaching Yemon stuff, his mother, Asami was the hard working one who got promoted right as Yemon hit ten years old. This made her time spent with him shorter, though it was more packed with instructions. Asami was always very, do as I say, not as I do, and would swear like a dock worker which just annoyed Yemon. If there were rules, the ones in charge should be the example, not the ultimatum.

Yemon's childhood education was actually the reason he made it into Edo Bugei. Being from one of the more remote providence, and with a weird sword style to boot, Yemon quickly gained a name for himself beating out a few of the members of the Stasuma main clan. Their style of sword fighting was extremely graceful and intimidating, and Yemon would just grab their swords and slash at them. It wasn't that they were bad, it was that Yemon used the context of the combat style to be their weakness. As for his grades, they weren't the best, but they weren't middle of the pack either. He was a decent student, sitting right at the bottom of the high honors students. Which may not put him on the level of some of the other students making their way to Edo Bugei, but it was enough to get a recommendation for his combat skills. Though, that could be because of the lack of students from his home province.

As Yemon got older, he began spending more time with Johan, only during the times he was there. Each of his training sessions became longer and more specific. Teaching Yemon about different styles of blades that Johan had encountered in his career moving around the world for fun and profit. It made Yemon romanticize being a heroic villain. Though, that kind of thinking, Yemon knew, would get him killed. Johan was always better than Yemon at talking his way out of a problem, so Yemon decided that being unheard or unseen was usually better. Not as in stealth, but as in not speaking up, being quiet and humble. Letting someone else take the spot light and wondering off to get whatever he needed done, done. Johan also taught Yemon more dirty fighting techniques as he got older, as Yemon began to focus on ways to counter usual and more thorough combat styles. Yemon was never as big or strong as the people he was forced to duel at school and such, so he had to rely on more subtle and obnoxious tricks.

When Yemon decided to go to school a long way from home, his parents were actually not that happy. They dealt with it because Yemon had gotten there on merits, winning multiple combat tests by simply using the sword on sword physics to overcome eastern weaponry with the western zwei that had been given to him by Johan Saint. So he packed his bags and headed up to the school since it was just the next step in his personal view of moving forward with his life.

Unfortunately, on his way, and having his blade in a suitcase, while traveling by train up to Edo Bugei, Yemon was stopped for having a European made zweihander. Yemon actually spent the night being questioned and in general annoyed. He only managed to get out because of his acceptance letter to Edo Bugei, and someone on the train who had seen the final middle-school tournament that he was in. The blade had been smuggled in by Johan a few years before, and given to Yemon. He never really had to deal with the actual problem of it being contraband considering his renown for the odd style back in his home province. Yemon spent the entire night being questioned to which he just would avoid answers with "it was given to me". He's pretty sure the only reasons he got off was because he was going to Edo Bugei. It was easier to deal with the weapon back home in Satsuma considering that most of the population was pirates, smugglers, port hands and unruly types.
