Sunflowers, swaying in the rose-tinted breeze. How big, and bold, and beautiful. Hana was an emulation of the cicada immersed summer lilies. The white rose and the blood red spider lily personified. But ever since the Rebellion, she had transfigured into a dark cloud of doubt. A raging storm of anger- Edo was in ruins, the country was broken. Patchwork was of the utmost importance, but it didn't quell her emotions. She needed so many answers, and the urge for them swirled in her head, rustled through her hair and breathed into her lungs. She was Amaterasu, but from disgust and conflict hid her light in a cave.

During the rebellion, she barely had time to step out of her room, much less see the school for what it really was- but now, it felt hopeless to even look beyond the damage the school took. Beyond the bullet-shaped peepholes of the castle, there were nothing cracked sidewalks, empty gun shells, and broken storefronts laid waste by desperate commoners- now looters. Only once in a while there was the occasional harried person, moving quickly with tense purpose, but no-one left their homes unless absolutely necessary and the children were almost never seen anymore.

The cold air danced against the hem and skirt of her winter coat, her hands shoved deep in its pockets as she navigated the school. The dorms that once thronged with life stood empty. Gone were the fever dream warriors, freshly draped in their egos on the training grounds. The halls had become completely decimated, riddled with students- depressed in unison over the loss of a friend, family, or a lover. There was no laughter ringing through the crowds, be it gossip polite and malicious, news about an idol or laments on failing grades. Now even at midday, all that was there would be the hallowed out tacenda, with only the wind for company.

Quietly, she'd made her way to the third floor- where all the third years and elites stayed- she was told. Of course, she would've loved to visit Suishoku, to properly thank her for everything she'd down for her in battle. But the cold truth that she might still be in the hospital, recovering from her relic's consequences, bit at her heels and turned her the other way. Up here, the heels of her boots echoed against the dark, cherry wood flooring. It was a stark contrast from the rest of the entire school- so much that it was actually a bit frightening, and a bit too self-conscious for her taste. She never tried to live too wise ever before.

Just what exactly could have been going through the minds of those monks? Did they even realize the destruction they'd caused? The anguish and bloodshed they'd made a path of? It wasn't a matter of how dare they- but, why would they? What could've possessed them to go to these lengths of terror? Hana caught herself promptly as the harsh wind had blown a piece of paper- her schedule from her bag. Naturally, her reflexes saved her this time, but as she caught it- her eyes, accentuated with creases of thought and fatigue took notice of the opulent office in front of her. It was closed- she expected no less, she wouldn't bother to knock- it was better to leave a teacher to their work. But the sign that decorated it, boldly written in black against white, beckoned her to knock, at least once- twice.

"校長" | Kōchō

"済みません 校長, ご免ください?" {Excuse me, headmaster, may I come in?}

She sighed after she'd asked for permission. Looking at the murals of Edo history as she waited for an answer. She...she was the same as them. Right? Of all the noble samurai- she had the same blood and cause, right?

Grunts of displeasure and quick, shifting cries of victory intertwined in the air as sweat washed over skin and blood boiled underneath it. Veins flooded with fight or flight as contenders struggled to stay focus in the fast paced one two of certain defeat.

Hana was breathing heavily, a smirk on her face as her opponent circled her, she didn’t mind the ominous seconds of waiting- only relished the therapeutic feeling of her heart pounding out of control in her chest from adrenaline as she. In her left hand, she wielded a simple stick, nothing more than a training spear so she didn’t injure her schoolmates badly. In her right hand, she held nothing at all, but the dangers of her hands were a whole list longer than what she could do with a spear. She held a calm stance, her burgundy eyes jaded and laser focused on her opponent.

Suddenly, it had become a tiger and the poacher scenario.

Finally, the heat in her partners lungs corrupted her, and with no other choice but to act, she lunged at her with all the speed she had left to muster. Hana kept a low profile as she smiled at the girl, fluidly dancing between offense and defense and she belittled her with her spear and viciously attacked her without it.

She punched her firmly beneath her chest when the opening bared itself, the tilt of her fist a designed pattern that forced her backwards into the row of benches behind them. It seemed she forgot her chivalry for a second- she wouldn't hit a training partner like that, much less a woman on her side. But the sharp, painful sound of bones broken by force made it too easy to imagine otherwise. It was crystal clear by her brief expression, the hunger roaring in her velveteen eyes, the darker, primal intent behind her grin - she was so, so, so homesick.

Surprisingly she didn’t draw any blood. She was still careful with her, though it seemed like she could care less if she puked out her guts the next morning.

Hana sighed, the cool air rushing over her lips in a gentle hiss. She was a bit of a mess, scraped up here and there, bruised dark red in some places. Her ponytail sweaty and slightly undone from the last 15 minutes of drawn out, vigorous training. She was battered, sure, but somewhere in her heart she felt sorry for the girl- she’d become sluggish since that sickening pop in her ribs from earlier, maybe she’d take her out for ice cream later. Her spirit was certainly admirable.

Patient as ever she waited for her opponent to come at her again, wooden sword being a threat of sudden surprise as she struggled to keep on her toes. Hana scoffed as the girl sneered before grabbing her by her uniform and headbutting her out of instinct, the slightest bit of blood pooling at her now slightly crooked nose as she held it in slight panic- eyes fixated on Hana in murderous intent.

Hana chortled, mere seconds of peace between them. The girl didn't back down however, as if the humiliation of being made fun of by a spearwoman of all people was finally starting to eat at her.

Hana laughed at her fury as it bared its fangs, her opponent knocking the spear out of her hand the only thing locking her back into the spar. Maybe she’d gotten too jovial with this one. Either way she picked her poison wisely enough.

Hana’s smile didn’t seem to leave her face however, it only seem to grow more intense as she brought the small region of her foot up to the side of her head, her own body twisting and adding to the momentum of the bludgeoning technique. She watched as the girl’s eyes lit up in horror, seconds before she was knocked off her feet by the acceleration and strength of the attack, the blow fattening the side of her face as she groaned in pain.

Without a doubt, even when Hana was being friendly she wrecked her opponent, the young woman wasn’t out cold, but with her body and mind a mess, she was unfit to spar any longer. Hana grinned at her opponent as she went to help her up, going as far as to carry her when she wasn’t responding as well as she would’ve liked her to.

“That was really fun! You did so well,”

Words of encourage left her lips as she laid her gently on the bench, she’d be fine! At least she got her name. She guessed she really would take her out sometime, though it’d be a while.

"Come train with me next time, maybe we could get some ice cream later?"

She remarked, smirking at the girl as she had her write her number down. With a sigh, she got up, whispering something unintelligible as she gave one last sly glance as she turned her back on her.

“Sooo, anybody else wanna train with me? I’ve got all day!”

She gushed as she fixed her ponytail. She was sure today was going to be fun, now that she was all warmed up. Preferably someone who’d actually make her feel like a tiger in a corner. Then things would get really get hot.

Needless to say, her closet is filled with all assortments of sweaters, jackets, and pants- but also with heels, dresses, and crop-tops etc.
She doesn’t have a set colour preference, as she chooses what to wear based on how well they go together. She does wear an awful lot of black and red though- with shades ranging from burgundy to Vermillion. She often wears glasses, though they’re just for fashion or reading.

It’s fairly easy to get to know a girl like Hana, and it’s just as simple to realize how adaptable, fun-loving and thoughtful she can be. Of course, she's also confident, appreciative, orderly and faithful to the end, but in a way, they're lesser traits that are tainted and mixed with habits of being dominating as well.

Her adaptability though, this is what she’s often admired for. Those close to her frequently count on this and her discretion when they're feeling down, and it can come in handy when on a mission.
Nobody's perfect of course and Hana has plenty of rainy days too. Her aggressive nature and argumentativeness don't make for the greatest company even at the best of times.

Fortunately, her fun-loving temperament helps lighten the blows and moods when needed.

• Empathetic
• Can appear emotionally and physically tough
• As disciplined as she is humourful
• Extremely dedicated to her cause and loved ones

• Heated temper
• Harsh self-critic
• Can have Problems carrying on a conversation
• Domineering; too focused on doing it "her way”

• Spending good time with good people
• Exercising
• Music
• Quality Meals
• Completing tasks and getting them right
• Immersing herself in literatures pertaining to the art of war

• A waste of a quality meal
• Waking up hot and or sweaty
• Failing to meet and deadline and then being ridiculed for it
• People with no manners
• Not being able to do a test run before the main deal
AMBITIONS: It isn’t much of a goal of her own- but she simply wants to live up to every standard her clan has set. As she believes this is her purpose, she’ll set out to find it every time the opportunity arises. If she was really honest, it would be to prove to society that she can be good enough.

If you'd like to be a traditional student you may delete everything in this section after "weapon"
WEAPON: Chumonji Jūmonji Yari; two great spears, with noticeably obsidian hued blades, usually strapped to the back or carried in the hand due to their sheer size. Due to her level of skill, she is unable to wield them with the desirable finesse required and therefore resolves to planned, decisive blows or not using them at all until her skill improves. If they are not in use she will resort to a mixture of Jujitsu and Shotokan style Karate.

However, as a member of the Sanada Clan she has learned to utilize other weapons, the nodachi, as well as the kodachi, wakizashi, shuriken, and kusarigama, mostly due to her status and her inability to rely on the Yari.
RELIC: The artifacts that give her power are indeed the Yari she closely guards. Once belonging to the 15th family head, they have been passed down from generation to generation to the first-born of the clan regardless of gender.
RELIC OWNER: Sanada Yukimura/Nobushige (真田 幸村 / 信繁); (1567 – June 3, 1615)
OWNER HISTORY: "A Hero who may appear once in a hundred years" | "Crimson Demon of War" | "The Last Sengoku Hero".
Sanada Yukimura was a samurai warrior during the 'Sengoku' or 'Warring States' period of Japan. He is best known for being an extremely skilled warrior and was given the nickname of 'Crimson Demon of War' among others. Along with his father, Yukimura fought countless battles and had an outstanding record for winning when the odds were stacked against him.
ACTIVATED ABILITY 1: Body of the Crimson Demon; Allows Hana to punch or kick her opponents with a fist or foot of fiery aura. Quite literally, it does burn whom every comes in contact with it, and depending on the variables of a natural burn (length of time target is in contact with it, reaction time, the location of the burn (ex. Hand, chest etc.)) can range from minor to fairly desirable burns. [[One turn cool down time]]
ACTIVATED ABILITY 2: Ring of Fire; Allows Hana to create a ring around herself or her group and temporarily strengthens her group’s/her own attacks. A simple construct reminiscent of her aura, it surrounds her/her group completely. It lasts two turns and can only support four people. [[Three turn cool down time]]
LOCKED ACTIVATED ABILITY 3: One Hundred Years of Fire; Allows Hana to generate at least thirty spear like projectiles made of fire in the sky, sending them down on the opponent in a ruthless barrage. Fortunately, they can be dodged, despite being four times larger than a normal spear, but leave the victim with a stinging sensation for three turns.
[[Five turn cool down time]]
PASSIVE 1: Tigress’ Speed; Gives Hana a massive speed boost, of which is rumored to be that of a demon’s-though really it only causes the user to move two times faster.
LOCKED PASSIVE 2: You Leave Me to Become the Tiger; When faced with a tight or critical situation, her capabilities with the Yari become two times better.
AWAKENED ATTACK: Anata Wa Watashi No Seishin O Koenaidarou; As an absolute last stand, Hana plants her spears into the ground, whereas they begin to form a shape-reminiscent to that of one of the Rokumonsen symbols via fire. Once complete they trap the target in an explosion of fire and brimstone for at least two turns- while the damage usually ranges from severe to fatal due to nature of the attack.Causes instant blackout to the user.

FAMILY: (If you have faceclaims in mind please note them.)
• Father; Sanada Yukihiro [Current Head of the Sanada Clan, a wise man, with a temper of equal caliber. He is calm and collected, beaurocratic and can easily lose his temper if rubbed the wrong way. Due to being spared in the ceremony, he is currently still alive and still the head of the family. He understands why, but he's also not sure why Hana would do things this way.]
• Mother; Sanada Megohime [Fierce albino Onna-Bugeisha of the Fukushima Clan; The Lady Sanada rules over Kozuke with an iron fist in her husband's absence- resulting in her being in full control a good portion of the time. She will watch you suffer, she will watch you burn.]
• Sibling
Sanada Megumi [Incredibly competitive with a violent superiority complex. Has deeply mixed feelings for her older sister- her reasons are unknown, possibly the best tactician of all four siblings.]
Sanada Daisuke [Has no use for the politics of his family and simply enjoys fighting and subsequently mauling his opponents.]
Sanada Hinata [Youngest of the four and by far the most naïve. However, her physical and tactical prowess is strangely subtle and ominous, especially for a child her age.]
• Mentor; Yoshida Kyohei [A young samurai master who supposedly defeated not only his mentors but opponents with ease. What could’ve caused such a man is currently unknown. He was Hana’s tutor for four years and is now working with Sanada Hinata.]
Born to Fukushima Megohime and Family Head Sanada Yukihiro, Hana was not allowed to see her parents and was raised by a plethora of strict handmaiden and famous tutors instead. Due to her status as their eldest child, Hana was ensured of etiquette, poise, and charm that were not only exceptional but would also earn her high favour in society.

However, her physical training was not to be neglected. As she was the eldest child, it was tradition that she inherited one of the most important heirlooms of the family, as her first course of action as a would-be head. She was to face her father in a ceremonial series of combat, and defeat him. Only then would they truly belong to her.

Hana, despite being only six years old, had been weighed down with the urge for both intellectual and physical superiority. Having her life completely devoted to these two things- resulted in her being proficient in at least two martial arts and highly educated at a young age. All at the price of her self-worth had taken an irreparable amount of damage. Her adult peers praised her- a gifted child who had no trouble learning so many things in remarkable time...

A gifted child who would never see herself good enough for anything or anyone ever again.

At age nine, she’d been relocated to the province of Kozuke where she would live with her parents. They had taken great pride in her, for they had heard of her prowess and intellect. This was where her grueling training had truly begun.

Her parents- though loving and highly doting of her, actively took roles as her true oppressors and were ruthless to her when she was most vulnerable, most forgetful.

Not only had training with her mother taken a worsening toll on her, but the spars with her father seemed to destroy her. At any rate, defeating him was a slim chance in the pit of hell-she knew he was holding back, for her sake- even then he was difficult to stand up to. However, the question of worth didn’t truly start eating at her until her brother and sister entered the picture.

Megumi had quickly gained the favour of their parents over her, despite being two years younger than her. Her brother, Daisuke, had no intentions of being the family sweetheart, but actively sought to tear his eleven-year-old sister apart during training.

Still, her ladyship was not to be neglected, even though she was under fire from her entire family, she was still expected to treat her loved ones with the utmost respect and to cherish and protect her younger siblings, no matter the wrong they had done to her. She especially could not complain to her parents, as her mother would rather watch her suffer and become strong and her father seemed incapable of handling his daughter’s turmoil.

With no outlet for her emotions, Hana was left bitter and cold towards her family, though she was not actively allowed to show this side of her. Her studies seemed to improve due to the isolation, and her maturity had grown immensely, but the quality of her prowess had dropped drastically, sending worry deep into her parents. It would be easy to replace her if only Megumi was not unsuitable and Daisuke desirable. Hana was removed from her training for a total of five months.

During this period of time, she had received many visits from her mother- who, for the first time- had become wary of her daughter’s condition. In this short time, Megohime had become the unsuspected idol and heroine of Hana’s life. At such a tender age she was sure that not even one hundred tutors could teach her what her mother had over this course.

Upon her return, she had aspired to become like her mother, even going as far as the bleach her hair in order to appear more like her. Still aged eleven, her younger siblings were beginning to lose their control over her, finding it more difficult to take her on and win. Her worth had been fairly restored, she was far from good enough, but she’d come too far to be berated by children. She was yet to pose a threat to her parents, but it was evident that spending time away from the onslaught had made her a better fighter.

At age thirteen, her siblings had become no match for her with the level of skill they held, but questions were still raised concerning her capability to overtake her father. She had three years before she would prove her worth to the clan, but with half a decade of failed attempts littering her record, this was beginning to become a mere fantasy. She had become excellent in using the nodachi, as well as the kodachi, wakizashi now in turns with at least two weapons only the braves of the clan were allowed to use but was still unable to beat her father even once. He was witty- smart, and constantly outwitted her at every turn.

Her mother had no chance but to call on the favour of an old friend, a samurai who’d stood the test of her own blade and defeated her continuously. A young master who’d defeat even the greatest of his time time and time again.

She’d been completely isolated from her family, saved for heated spars with a now enraged Megumi. The hours of her training dwarfed the hours of her rest brutally, and Kyohei’s rigorous routines were just the same as well. She’d began training with the Yari, and had caught on fairly easing with it. But the discipline required to fight with the Yari lacked severely.

Even Kyohei had started to lose hope in his pupil, for though he was confident she would be capable of facing her father, defeating him with a Yari- was still an uncertain fancy of the mind. She’d seemed a lost cause and Kyohei knew why. Unfortunately- he’d learned from her mother.

Watch her suffer and grow. To rise, she must first have the fire take her.

He’d brought her up to this day, the day of her sixteen birthday, the day she would truly face her father. The Lord would no longer hold back- and neither could she. He’d brought her up for three years, and now it was time to watch her become the god of her destiny or to watch her wither away like stamped out lily.

The ceremony was solemn, her handmaidens dressed her in black robes and ornaments, preparing her for death. Traditional orchestras played foreboding melodies upon her arrival, and prayers to desireable gods were made. It was a test of strenght and bravery over all else, no clever or cunning strategy was allowed.

To Amateratsu for shining favour, to Omoikane for wisdom and guidance and to Izanami for safe passage to the underworld.

Her family remained at her side for as long as possible, though her mother and Daisuke were the only ones who’d blessed her, what with Megumi wishing for her sister’s downfall, and Hinata, being far too emotional to wish her sister any luck.

As the sun had finally set, the ritual would now truly commence. For the first time that evening, Hana had met with her father.

The paralyzing fear spread through her body like an icy, liquid metal. She clenched her fists around the kodachi in her hands as she hesitantly took each step. She noticed her feet tremble, and he laughed, a hearty laugh that also had no problem being emitted again at her graveside. Her legs twitched, fighting the impulse to whirl around and sprint deep into the foliage around them, to lose herself in the castle, hide herself from destiny; but then the drums of fate began to knock at her door, at her soul- she couldn't turn away now, as she readied her stance, perfect and nose-leveled- she forced herself to accept that yesterday had abandoned her.

Then he came.

The battle raged for the eternity of the night. Naturally, her father was a smart man, but had thrown his even-kneeled persona to the side early into the battle. The battle was told to cease in the morning light, both warriors at their very ends, bleeding heavily and completely exhausted. But with only Hinata as their witness- it is hard to record such a story recorded by a eight year old who still believed in fairytales.

Needless to say, the sheer trauma riddling the Lord Sanada’s face was burnt into the child’s mind as Hana had taken her opportunity and used it well. To struggle to stand on her own two feet, to sputter out hot blood in attempts to breathe- and still feel the need to laugh despite all she’d been through, was something he could hardly find words for. He was as proud as he was terrified. Such a child like this- was not a child at all.

But Hana had her reasons, the nightmare was finally over- the fact she wouldn’t have to suffer like this weighed heavily upon her. The ceremony was done. She had claimed her birthright.

But of course, not without a price. Despite suffering from concussions and struggling to stay afloat for a week straight, there are diplomatic matters to attend to, as the new owner of such relics, she’s expected to attend the Edo Bugei as soon as possible. With the ultimatum at hand, Hana trained with the relics alongside Yoshida Kyohei for the last time. While not the best spearwoman, she has bonded quite well with the relics- there seems to be hope for her future at last. Hana had grown immensely over the ceremony, but beautifully is the least that comes to mind. Some would say she was terrifying- as she laughed through her pain and smiled at the defeat of her opponent.

With barely anytime to celebrate her 16th birthday it is finally time for her to prove her worth as a future leader to her clan. And she’s expected to bring forth only the best in doing so, for the Sanada clan was known for producing fierce, brilliant warriors, only every one hundred years, was a samurai such as they born.
