"Gotcha" Eiji said as the headmaster told them where they where going. He then watched him pull out his phone and talk to what Eiji thought was a taxi. He was then surprised to see how quickly their ride had arrived. He hopped in the back seat and the van took off. He had took a look a look at the guards and driver accompanying them. "I'd feel sorry for anyone stupid enough to try to break in here." Eiji said in response. "Besides with the ikko subjugated there is really no one else to want to attack us." He said as he stretched his arms up in the cramped van. This was gonna be a long ride

"I'd feel sorry for anyone stupid enough to try to break in here."[b] Eiji said in response. [b]"Besides with the ikko subjugated there is really no one else to want to attack us." at the words the Headmaster's expression became even more grave than when he talked about Eiji's lack of ability to vent after the Ikko battle. As Headmaster of Edo Bugei and thus directly responsible for all of the scions and traditions students under his care and command, he knew things. Far more things than most people even within the Shogunate about the current dangers against Japan. His face only became grimm for a moment before returning to being neutral, but he didn't want to let that slide.

"Thinking that way is dangerous." he said simply as the vehicle drove towards Edo Castle's main gates.
"This city is the symbol of the military might of our land. If it ever fell, the entire country would fall into chaos along with it. Just because one enemy is gone, doesn't mean all of them are." it was a strong rebuke, but one he had to give. While Eiji was probably right and no one would be foolish enough to attack Edo with the entire city still on high alert, foolish plans still happened and he wasn't ready to make such a sweeping statement just yet.

With that matter now cleared up the vehicle approached the large Northern Gate to the Edo Castle grounds. After being waved through a check point they drove up a long road to the still being re-build Edo castle as Eiji and the Headmaster got out, shadowed on both side by a total of six samurai. Three on each side. Moving towards the castle the pair was stopped by a man in dark monk robes who eyed them carefully.
"This is the one?" he asked the Headmaster simply. Headmaster Hosokawa gave a firm nod in response as the monk looked Eiji up and down. They then began walking towards a small building in the far corner of the castle grounds. The building isn't looked far from remarkable. Black and gold with a large wooden door. The entire time all six samurai had hands on their swords, ready to draw at a moment's notice as the monk spoke.
"No one is allowed to see the true holding grounds of the relics the Tokugawa have collected. However, we have a few we would like you to hold, and look at, and see if you may attune to them." the monk said simply as he opened the building's wooden doors. The inner room of the building was small to say the last. It was large enough for the ground, and three long tables pushed against the wall. Each table held three relics. Thus, in total, Eiji had been given nine relics to hold and see if he had a connection too them.

Eiji started at the headmaster as he responded to him, he noted his facial expression, but he didnt think much of it. Prolly just just had a wierd feeling in his face that's all. Eiji flicked out his sunglasses from his pocket and put them on as the van headed through the gates. Eiji whistled as they came to a stop, filed out with Headmaster and company, stopping briefly to admire the structure that was towering over him. Well almost, he was really sizing up all of the samurai that where waiting on him, looking them up and down.
"This seems hardly rushed or hurriedly put together, I'm taking it you knew I'd say yes?" He asked the headmaster as they came upon a monk. Eiji offered him a wave but the man just stood there before ushering him to the relic shack. Eiji looked at the relics, none of them spoke to him. Save for one.

It sat on the middle table next to a sword and a necklace. A face mask, hiding the face and nose red paint now dull and chipped by time. It seemed like it was the mouth of a demon, mouth agape with fangs and teeth bearing. Eiji took his sunglasses off and put the straps behind his head as he did this a bright orange light shot out from the mouth of the mask. The light soon began to overtake him as loud booms and vibrations shook the castle. His clothes and hair flew about as the energy surged around him. Eiji started to smile wide and laughing like a kid in a candy shop. He felt like he could take on the world with one arm behind his back. Strangely enough though he was wearing a mask he felt like he could breathe as if nothing was there at all.

Just as quickly as the euphoria came to him it vanished, as did his smile as his body convulsed. It had felt like someone had crashed a truck into his abdomen, smashed him over the head with a chair, and dug a thousand needles over every inch of skin. His eyes felt heavy like he had been awake for two days. He went limp on the floor as bodies surrounded him, maybe this was the owners way of welcoming him? He could see a smug ghost laughing at him now. Eiji gritted his teeth and forced himself up. Another burst of energy shot out as the pain dispersed only the crippling fatigue remained. On all fours looking at the ground eiji assumed Hosokawa must be near him and simply said.
"I think you forgot to tell me about that part"
He said quietly as he took deep breaths in and ou.

"This seems hardly rushed or hurriedly put together, I'm taking it you knew I'd say yes?" Eiji asked. The Headmaster looked over at him with a serious look befitting the situation. It was no longer the casual look of a teacher in safety, or the concerned look of a parent, but instead the look of a feudal lord gazing at one of his generals. A deep expression that gave little room for debate or counters, and in many ways even kindness.
"Every student thinks they are the first to have a particular problem, or actions. I have been the Headmaster of this academy for quite some time." of course he was also part of the clan that since the Academy was made centuries ago, was in charge of running it. Thus, he was well aware of the types of students the school got. Eiji was not the first student to take this route, and especially not the last.

As Eiji went about the various relic he chose one in particular, a chipped old fact mask. Putting it on Eiji's entire body seemed to suddenly shutter in pain as bright light flashed across the room. The monks in the room watched with steady eyes, as did the Headmaster as Eiji's entire body violently convulsed upon the floor. It was like Eiji was born torn apart from the inside out as he stared at the floor in pain.
"I think you forgot to tell me about that part" he said, obviously speaking to the Headmaster. In turn Headmaster Hosokawa slowly leaned over and placed a water bottle he had pulled from his robes next to Eiji. Though to Eiji, the water bottle didn't appear to have water in it at all. Instead it contained what looked to be a very green colored tea, the same color as a kiwi fruit. It even had a feint glow to it and tiny seeds floating inside of it.

"Some experiences can't be explained. Thus, we call them experiences." he said simply. He had no intention of helping Eiji to open the water bottle, or get to his feet. After all he wasn't trying to make the boy feel weak. Quite the opposite in fact. Now, if anything, was the time for Eiji to realize just how strong he was suppose to be.

Eiji slowly but surely got his bearings. Getting slowly getting up on both feet before picking up the bottle. "Talk about a kick in the head." He said to himself as he He put his hand on the mask pulling on it trying to pull it off of his face. After using alot of force it popped off. He opened it with one hand, the plastic lid falling to the floor. He put his head back and drank the entire bottle in seconds before crunching up the plastic remains and putting it into his pocket. His entire body felt sore. He looked at the mask in his hand. Its red paint had an odd shine to it now, it even looked like there was somthing moving beneath the wood, almost like it was alive. He turned it around and put it to his face. It clamped back on as soon as it touched his skin. He felt it with his hand, feeling the wooden fangs and teeth of the mask. "Well, I guess that settles that." He said as he looked at Hosokawa. "What do we do now?"

"What do we do now?" he asked the Headmaster. It felt like the moment he asked his entire body shot with pain. All of his nerves screamed out for a few seconds that would feel like ages before stopping. Likely bringing tears to even the most skilled warrior's face.
"Now you go rest. Your body will need time to adjust to having what is essentially a new limb, and having body flow through your veins." he said simply. As he looked at the monks that had entered with them they bowed and steadily began bundling the other relics back up and putting them in boxes to take back to Edo Castle.

Meanwhile the Headmaster took off his uniform and sat down, only wearing light shorts and a shirt. He was use to this, and knew they would be here for a while, so he wasn't in a rush. Instead as he sat down a monk brought in more of the drink he had given to Eiji before and put a large pitcher down next to the Headmaster before politely bowing and leaving.
"Drink this steadily, until the pain subsides. You are having, well, think of it as an allergic reaction to your relic. It happens from time to time when people first get their relic. Don't take it off, instead just get use to having it on, and drink the tea as needed to restore your stamina." he instructed carefully, placing his back against the wall as he looked at Eiji.

"Don't worry, you wont go berserk or such nonse. However you will be weak for a while, and the pain will come and go. Once it has settled we will return to the Bugei. Even if it should end up taking all night." the inside of the room, especially with all of the other relics being packed up and taken away, was extremely empty. yet for the next few hours it would now act as Eiji's home.
"Oh, and that door to your right leads to the restroom area. Since you will be drinking a lot of tea and water."

Eiji doubled over again onto the ground as his body felt the pain. As he layed on the ground again he he yelled as a torrent of vulgarity flew from his mouth as he writhed in pain. He sewed together each vulgar curse and statement together like a master poet strings together words. By the time it ended his face was red and his eyes watering. He reached out for the pitcher of tea, grabbed it and poured a generous amount onto his face, only a minuscule amount actually getting into his mouth. He put it back down and just layed there on the floor unmoving. "This tea tastes like ass" He said as he smiled under his mask. He started to chuckle as he thought about his situation, as well as the headmaster's. "Talk about a fun afternoon, watching someone scream in pain, talk about a fun use of your time." He said "Fucking hell, does this usually take all night?" He asked as he flopped up. He started sweating like it was a sauna. He took off his shirt and undershirt and picked up the pitcher again, this time drinking some, then pouring it all over his body to cool off.
If the headmaster glanced over he would notice somthing peculiar, Eiji's body was absolutely littered with scars. Which wasn't out of the ordinary, most every student had scars of some sort. But Eiji had many more, and most of which had age to them, upon closer inspection one could see it was more than your typical sword slash. On his abdomen there was clearly a healed gunshot wound, all over his back there where arrow wounds, and a fresh knife scar courtesy of the English general. This would also conflict with Eiji's dossier information which stated that he had no such scars.
Eiji would have some answering to do if the headmaster pressed about the matter.

The Headmaster looked over at Eiji. He seemed almost shockingly uninterested in Eiji's swearing or his pain. Instead the Headmaster was looking dully up at the ceiling while fetching more water or tea from time to time. As Eiji asked if it usually took this long the Headmaster looked at him with a rather emotionless expression.
"Some people have a shellfish allergy, you have a relic allergy." he said as he drank some of the tea for himself and put it down next to the boy. Looking carefully at all of the boy's scars the Headmaster decided he had let all of this go on long enough as he walked over and sat down right next to Eiji.

"You and your relic. You both have abilities, instincts, powers. Right now the relic is trying to merge with you, but your body is still fighting it. You are struggling to stay independent from your relic. It is impressive really. I've seen people force a relic to active, but never try and force a relic not to bond with them." he said as, taking a chopstick out of his outfit he slowly poked Eiji's scars, digging in a little to Eiji's skin as he did.
"Cheap make up and stage tricks might have hid your scars from the officials that examined you, but they are pretty clear now. Honestly, I have all night, but if you want to live I suggest you just let the relic's power in already. We are almost out of tea." what he didn't tell Eiji is that it never took this long. Sure some students freaked out, or cried, or had seizures when first bonding with a relic, but Eiji was taking a ridiculously long amount of time.

"Everyone has their secrets Sensei." Eiji said with a smile under his mask as he prodded his scars. "I'm sure you have your fair share." He said as he layed back down and felt some weight on his eyes. He felt sick, his heart felt like it was going to just stop and it was getting hard to move his fingers. Was it really that simple? It didnt feel like he was fighting it, but then again all he ever has done with his life was fight. He felt like he couldnt even talk. He looked at the Headmaster with a deep worry in his eyes. He was used to taking charge of situations, not just letting them play out. After a while he just closed his eyes and put his trust in the mask and his headmaster and he let the sleep take him.

The Headmaster laughed a bit as Eiji fell asleep.
"I tell him to just let the relic merge with him so he relaxes and falls asleep. What a weird kid." he said as he closed his own eyes. He thought carefully on the past. He had met many students in this time as Headmaster. When he closed his eyes, unknown to many save for maybe a handful of people, the faces of those students that had died in combat flashed before his eyes. As the Headmaster, for the sake of the school, he often did his best to carry on when students died in missions, acting as though it was a part of being a samurai. Yet in his mind, he never forgot them.

During the Ikko Rebellion some of Edo Bugei's students had ended up being traitors. Spies for the Ikko that had always intended on killing the students inside Edo Bugei. The Headmaster knew. He wasn't a fool, he knew every student aht had turned traitor. He had talked with all of them. He knew they didn't truly like the Bugei. Yet he hoped he could change them. He thought if they just spend enough time at the Bugei perhaps they would go against that horrid brainwashing the Ikko seemed to enjoy so much. The incident hadn't gone like that at all. Most of them killed their fellow students, and in the end where killed by teachers or loyal Bugei students. He truly hated himself for not being able to do more for them, and he hated the Ikko even more. Looking at the sleeping Eiji he said
"Don't die kid"

When Eiji awoke he sat himself up, but to his surprise he wasnt in that shack with Hosokawa.
The sun had set neatly on the horizon. Sat next to him was a man in broken red armor clutching a red katana in its scabbard. He turned his head to look at him, wearing the mask Eiji had picked up. "Took you long enough" The man in red said. Eiji said nothing in response, instead he moved his hand to take his mask back, however his hand was interspersed by the red man's. "What do you think you are doing?" He asked Eiji as they both stood up onto their feet. "I want my mask back." He said bluntly as the red man threw Eijis hand away. "Your mask? You need to learn some manners boy." The man said as he pointed his katana at Eiji. "You gonna be the one to teach me old man?" Eiji retored as he grabbed the sword with his right arm, pulling it diagonally downward towards him the scabbard would catch the blade pulling the red man towards him, with his right free arm he gave the man a nasty hook, catching the top of his eye. The man's head recoiled back but his body didnt move. Instead the man would reply with a straight punch of his own, hitting Eiji square in the middle of his face. It felt like getting punched by a truck, Eiji fell back straight onto his ass as the man rubbed his right eye as Eiji started getting up. The man dropped his katana and took off his mask, holding it out in his right hand towards Eiji.
"If this is yours then come and take it, and show me what you can do with it." Eiji stood up his nose felt like it was broken, but he ingored it and walked up to the man snatching it from his hand and put it on again. As he did the sun began to set and the man sat back down next to the tree. "Get stronger next time you come, and bring a sword with you." He said. As the sun set everything got dark, As Eiji blinked he found himself laying down in the Shack again with the headmaster. Eiji sat up quickly and put a hand over his nose. It still hurt. "That asshole!" Eiji said as he stood up. He looked up to the headmaster realizing what he said. "Uh not you, the other guy." He said as he thought about the man who had his mask.

Headmaster Hosokawa watched Eiji carefully while he seemed to be having a dream. In the dream Eiji was restless, moving around a lot and even hitting his head hard into the ground. However, the Headmaster didn't stop him. After all, it wasn't Headmaster Hosokawa's place to. This was purely Eiji's trial. Instead the Headmaster simply observed until Eiji suddenly got up yelling, and then apologizing. In response Hosokawa just raised his hand to motion that the boy didn't need to apologize more and shook his head a bit, standing up.

"You beat your face against the floor. It must have been one hell of a dream. Though you seem to be moving fine, so I assume your allergic fit is over." he said in a very matter of fact way before walking to Eiji.
"Welcome to being a Scion. To be clear, you don't serve a lord, or the school, you serve the Shogun of Japan was a warrior, and by extension the Emperor." he made direct eye contact with Eiji
"Do you understand?" the atmosphere in the small building felt thick, and extremely oppressive.
