it was a sunny day at Bugei academy, the ground around the school was covered in fresh snow untouched as of yet due to the storm they got the day before. Inside the school the students were a buzz, today was the day most have been waiting for, the day Izuki Kai, the legendary Hitokiri and graduate would be teaching his first class. although the class itself wasn't all that advanced the pull was Kai's fame. The girls giggled and chatted about if Kai would notice their new hair. The male were chatting about if Kai was gonna tell about his adventures as a Hitokiri.

Kai walked up the walkway and into the school, Akito flanked him the ever protective/possessive bodyguard. Kai walked silently passe the groups of kids his ice blue eyes blank as if completely calm. He looked at Akito and his eyes lit up a fraction. "The classroom is just up ahead, I'd like you to stand guard until I'm ready to allow the students in." With that Kai turned and entered the room looking around.

The room was big, very big. easy to see why as it was meant to seat about 100 students. Kai made his way over to the desk and set his katana down on the table pulling his chair up sitting down. Kai powered up the attached computer that connected to the projector over head. He started up a program listing the subjects he would be covering.

Kai stretched and crosses his legs quietly closing his eyes. He focused himself. Kai turned towards the doors. "Akito-Chan, allow the students in, and make sure they enter in an organized fashion please. After that please stand by me." He stood up arms folded behind his back as the doors opened and the students flooded in. Students of all years filled the room and took their seats.

A soft mummer filled the room as Kai motioned for the students to quiet down before clearing his throat to speak. "Hello my name is Izuki Kai head of the Elite Year and welcome to my class, today we will be cover the most basic thing about being on a battlefield surviving. I am going to present you a scenario and you can going to write your solution on the laptops placed in front of you. After everyone is done I will allow questions."

With that said Kai walked quietly back to his seat, the way he walked showed unbreakable composure and control. Kai pulled his chair out and sat down typing into his computer. After typing in the question he read it allowed to the room.

"You're on a battlefield, you are part of a team for 4 people one member is wounded, they also happen to be the medical officer of the group. You are at equal distant to your mission goal and the Medical area. What course of action do you take?"

Kai rested his elbows on the desk staring out quietly at the students watching them type in their answers.

Notification had been sent to his e-mail that class would begin. As he checked his bag for everything that he needed, he nodded. Survival was not by any means easy nor was it difficult. It was just necessary. It did not matter how hard or how difficult it was. Takumi left his room and locked it before exiting the dorms. He was ready for his class and walked casually towards his destination. He was slightly early, but that was normal. He didn’t like arriving late, so slightly early was enough to allow him to be near or in the classroom before it started.

There were several students walking down the same road, many paired up and talking, however Takumi was by his lonesome. He observed many of them, most of them talking about pastimes and the like. While to most people it would seem pointless banter, to him it was a gold mine of information. It told him the personality of each and every one of them. His memory stored most of what was said and allowed him to begin profiling every single person that was near.

After several minutes, he finally made it to the classroom with a person at the front that did not allow anyone into the classroom. Takumi said nothing and simply leaned against a wall, waiting for the woman to allow him in. Unfortunately for the student, he had no hood he could use to separate himself from everyone else, as it was not allowed with the school uniform. Finally, the woman guarding the door let everyone in. Takumi took his place in the center of the room towards the right, one that lined the windows so he could look outside.

As he sat down and waited for all of the other students to join in, Takumi simply watched as people began to file into the school. Nothing was too out of the ordinary, so all he could do was wait for class to start. Finally, after several minutes had passed, all the seats were filled and class was starting. He looked straight at his sensei. All he knew about him was that he was well trained and supposedly legendary. The fact he needed a body guard puzzled the ninja, but he assumed that it was because an extra set of eyes was always useful.

The sensei began to ask them a question with no information. All he gave was a vague question. The Fuma pondered the question for a bit and finally began typing:

“There is not enough information. Making a decision is never black and white and there are many variables that could affect a decision. Will making it to the mission goal save more lives? Will this one person be able to save even more people? Too many variables that could change may change the answer to this question. As such, there is no correct answer. One answer will lead to a consequence.”

Donning on her uniform and snapping her hair clip in place, Suishoku took one last look at herself in the mirror before leaving the dorm with a simple bag to hold her notes and things for ceremony club later. A scarf and gloves tossed on to bear the cold. Today was one of those special courses that was always a toss up of being a welcomed and unwelcomed. It would be one of those days not spent studying first aid to tactical awareness and getting a different material to cover. A separate location.

She grabbed a toasted bagel on the way out of the dorms to follow the track laden path to the main school building. Quick bites snapped away at the hot bread before winter winds could steal it away. Thankfully was the walk always a short one when taking a side entrance rather than going through the main gathering area where everyone stands for announcement processions. She changed out her shoes quickly with the last of her breakfast disappearing into her mouth and left to search for the classroom assigned from the famous Izuki Kai. Logically it would be the one with the fan girls/boys watching at a slightly respectable distance from Izuki's bodyguard, Sanada Akito. The other third year wasn't that bad of a person either but the difference in grades and their bodyguard behavior mirrored that of a future lord and his charge. How was any of that going to work after Edo Bugei was none of her business since some strings would be pulled away from Izuki's fame. Suishoku shrugged at the waiting situation and tried to stand off to the side to avoid of Izuki's admirers. Course Izuki is all that famous and good looking but the 3rd year has his hands full with the school and Edo to deal with his obstructing fans. Her eyes slowly shut to wait it out.

Once the doors were open for the students did everyone marched in to grab up a seat. The admirers took up the front row and scattered accordingly. Suishoku took to one of the middle rows and sat there without much thought. Izuki welcomed them after a silencing motion and directed their attentions to a laptop before them on each desk. He quickly typed and sent something out which appeared in the monitor. A question with the medic wounded? Suishoku cocked her head slightly at this for in most scenarios, she is the medic. With that standpoint in mind, she began typing her reply.

"Without a pressure for time and give how conscious the medical student is, I think there should be a possible time to have a guided patch work done on the medical student then proceed in caution to the mission point. The student may be wounded but the severity was not indicated. The group should move at the medic's pace but I suggest that by the mission point, two will go ahead with a third staying the rear but not in an obvious position to show the group is down a member. While these are my thoughts, I would not recommend this on a mission based on time and speed. There is also the set up on how fast the remaining students are. The faster member might be able to drop the wounded at the camp then rendezvous back to the main group to finish if it is unlikely to find a replacement at camp. My other concerns is if this mission has multiple groups in the field or not. Man power might need to be rerouted if available."

Eriko had awoken bright and early, earlier in fact than she'd have gotten out of bed on a normal school day. Today was the day. The beginning of the next stage of her plan to ascend beyond the petty expectations others had for a student of her heritage. Kai Izuki had announced a special survival course would be taught for any students who wished to attend. Taking a special course to better oneself was something Eriko naturally would have been inclined to do anyhow. That the person who might be her endorsement to the Elites was teaching it just made it all the more fortuitous. A famous former student's endorsement would leave no doubt that she was indeed worthy of such a high station.

She'd taken extra time to square away her appearance, straightening her uniform what seemed like twelve times. After she was finally satisfied with that she'd put on a black headband which bore the Yamana mon in a subtle faded gold pattern. A gift from her family, whom she had not been able to visit during the winter holiday. No time because she had spent her time off training further, staying at Edo Bugei while many traveled home. Once prepared Eriko had made the rounds to bid good morning to her peers before grabbing an onigiri en route to the classroom. As she made her way there she could hear the chattering of girls about the famous Elite who would teach the special class. Mentally Eriko sighed - sure he was capable, high status and reputedly good looking, but he was still just a man. Let them worry about if he'd notice their hair, she had work to do!

After waiting outside the classroom patiently she was finally admitted with a number of other students. Thankfully the chattering and gossiping seemed to have been left behind them. Eriko sighed lightly in relief as she took a seat in the front of the room. Ostensibly this was to accommodate eyesight which required the use of glasses - wait, where were her glasses? A quick check proved they were not on her person, meaning she'd left them in her dorm. No time to worry about that; she would simply do without.

Kai Izuki was there as well, at last granting Eriko her first look at the famous Elite. No way could he be as handsome as his obsessed fans described him. Then she set eyes upon him (her eyesight wasn't that bad) and found she was correct on that account. He was far more handsome than gossip let on. Besides that he had a confident presence which enhanced his appearance all the more. Eriko managed to keep herself from reacting too much, though her cheeks turned a little red from the realization. All the more reason to work hard and impress the man!

For her response Eriko responded, 'It would depend entirely on the nature of the mission. Assuming that it is critical and time-sensitive, the team must be focused on completing it. Assuming that the medic's wound is severe enough to require use of the medical area's resources it would perhaps be best for a capable fighter to escort them there for treatment. Meanwhile the remaining members should attempt to pursue the mission's completion, scouting ahead before coming to a final judgment as to the likelihood of this succeeding. Should it prove to be, the pair should use special tactics to nullify the enemy's numbers while making the best use of their own bushi skills."

As usual, Akito's morning was busy. Long before Kai had woken up this morning for class, she had been hard at work sweeping the campus and the classroom for any potential threats. She'd close the blinds of the classroom and set up a spot for her to post up near Kai's desk that would give her an advantage should something start going down. She'd be lying if she wasn't expecting an insane student like last year. A female student hadn't exactly been kosher with the idea that Kai didn't like her and had attempted to eliminate him so she wouldn't have to 'share'. How bothersome.

Finally, she'd return to an awaking Kai and soon their day would begin. They would travel to the classroom Edo Bugei had given him to use, taking his orders wordlessly. There, Akito stood. She didn't seem entirely intimidating but she certainly wasn't wearing her uniform. Her mission to protect Kai was far greater than the school's dress code. She was in her usual guard uniform, the skin tight jumpsuit of deep purple colours with a modesty skirt covering her arguably plush backside. Of course, Akito looked more like she should have been on the cover of a magazine than allowing herself to be covered in scars at someone else's expense. Of course, the rumor floating about of Kai liking long hair was actually fueled by her own hip length locks of red.

Red hair. Naturally occurring red hair in japanese girl. It was a fluke of genetics even. She was used to the ridicule that came from it, so when Kai's admirers started whispering cruel things about her odd appearance, to include her nearly pure red brown eyes, it was met with a straight face. After all, they had her to face before they could even get to their beloved Kai. Dumb girls. It wasn't much longer that Kai stated he was set up and that she could let the students inside. She would step away from the door and stand at the entrance to visually check every individual who walked through, building a mental database of potential threats. Sad way to look at things, but she was incredibly serious about protecting her best friend.

With every step she took, the collapsed and legendary spear at her hip, Red Harmony, tinked away in gesture to her movement like it was quietly letting everyone in the room know that it was there and it was always out for blood in the hands of its favourite wielder. Akito brushed aside her red hair, trying to tuck it behind her ear and showing off the silver coloured earring cuffs she wore but her thick hair decided it wanted otherwise and it all fell back into place. Each student that passed by her still received a visual scrutiny before walking in, especially the fangirls. God knows what they could have had on them. She'd found creepy things in the past but preferred not to get into it.

At last, everyone was inside and settling in. Once there weren't any more students showing up, the young woman would close the door behind her as she entered and locked it. She'd cross the distance of the room to her post and class had begun. She'd find the usual death glare towards her for getting to spend so much time with her best friend, but she'd grown so used to them that all she ever did was make a funny face in return. That usually ticked them off, even sometimes made them do or act stupid in return towards Kai. Shoot, she had one girl try so hard to get Kai alone that she'd even been called 'dead weight'. Kai had shut her up so hard she could still hear the girl crying. That was the importance of their relationship. Of course, Akito knew when to stand aside for his personal goals but she would always do everything she could in order to protect him.

Her muddy ruby coloured eyes scanned the classroom, a few students starting to input their answers after Kai had posted the scenario. Of course, being a third year and having attended many a class like this, she already knew the correct answer. Four man teams were designed to be split up. While medics are helpful to have, they aren't necessary for mission completion. Everyone should be skilled in basic first aid anyway, medics were just glorified EMTs. One man stays behind to care for the wounded and ideally call for support, since it's obviously an injury that is a cause for concern, and the other two should press on for mission completion. Then they would either return to the location the wounded had been left at, or press on with a rendezvous with central forces and get support that way. But... Akito wasn't allowed to answer in this class, for obvious reasons.

What should of been the sounds of yawns and tire in the morning was replaced rather with the sound of running water, and plenty of it at that. Someone had been taking a shower, and that someone was none other than Tachibana Hoshi. A young lass who'd... as strange as it may sound hadn't slept at all last night, rather pumped for her first day, and filled to the brim with energy, she had opted to trim down some of that excess energy with some practice, it was a miracle she hadn't been caught sneaking out of the dorms in the middle of the night, but nonetheless, she hadn't slept a wink that night.

That all said and done, the girl was... not even slightly fazed by this fact, still bursting with energy, nobody would ever be able to tell that she was up all night, until the time came where she'd likely literally collapse on her bed as the day ended, but that was another time. With one final rinse, Hoshi had stopped the water and lazily dried her hair and body, liking the wet feeling in her hair.

"All done-nya!" She had said triumphantly. With her shower done she had gone about her morning like any other, putting on her school dress, though always reluctant to put on a skirt, she'd opted to put on the pants meant for boys. She'd skipped out on breakfast, always the type to hate mornings and as a result, hate breakfast, she'd grabbed a grape flavoured lollipop on her way out of her room, making her way to class with her headphones strapped over her ears. Rather than most students who'd walk from the dorms to the classes, she'd jogged her way there, always the one to enjoy a little extra exercise.

By this time, class had begun, and Hoshi had found herself seated in the back left corner of the room, she herself... wasn't rather interested in her teacher as anything other than just that, and was at present wondering who the strange red haired girl next to him was, she seemed too young to be a teacher's aid. Soon after, she had begun writing her answer, haphazardly at first, considering that the keyboard was different to what she was used to.

'Out of the three remaining members, one would designate who is optimal for completing the mission, and who would be best to take care of the casualty, if the injury is truly serious enough, even a single person would be enough to take the casualty back, while the remaining two members can continue with the mission, of course, more cautiously. However, if the mission is too dangerous for just two to handle, it would be best to simply abort the mission than to risk more lives than needed.' Hoshi had typed out, recalling key words her father's assistant would often use when taking care of injured folks, and using logic for the rest of her answer. Life should be more important than anything else, after all, she had considered. That all said and done, the blonde haired girl had lowered her screen, hunching over with her head in her arms, awaiting for the next part of the lesson.

Azusa, in the dead of night in her dorm room, stared at the laptop that she held on her lap late in the night. Like usual, the only real source of light in her room was the very gentle yet dim glow from the large aquarium that took up half of the entirety of her room. The black haired girl herself did not like to disturb the variety of fish that she held in the tank at night, so she tried to keep lights off when night came along.

Sitting on her calves on a comfy little pillow with her laptop propped up via a few books stacked on top of themselves, Azusa had just signed up for a class at a whim. It would reflect poorly on her and the girl's clan if she shied away from combat entirely, so she needed to find enough activities that could give her a healthy dosage of experience or learning. After at least an hour of careful deliberation Azusa had concisely decided that Kai Izuki's class was a good match for her... or good enough at the least.

With her reply to the class signup completed, Azusa began planning about any possible... scenarios that she would have to deal with in class. Not exactly the paranoid type where she imagines they would be attacked - nothing that extreme! Rather, Azusa liked being prepared and took extra steps to assure that the most fortuitous outcome would always be ahead of her as opposed to missed. Performing well in class would possibly work in her favor in advancing as a person and for her clan, so it was important to assure that she could be ready. A weapon was not described as necessary, so rather than look paranoid the thoughtful teenager figured it would be more appropriate to only arrive in a uniform and her other usual student accommodations. Notebook, pen, the like. From there Azusa imagined the possible ways this class would be taught, from lectures to class projects to sparring to quizzes, the list went on.

Azusa took long enough mulling through everything she felt that needed to be thought on that she actually fell asleep where she sat after she had hunched forward in exhaustion. When next she woke the young teenager found that it was late morning! From there the aspiring samurai realized that she would have to rush to make it to the class she had just signed up; she had responded at the last moment, after all.

So, one hurried morning later, a fully dressed Azusa ran out of the girls-only dorms; she had done this to an extent that most other girls in the dorms were probably used to it by now. Merely entirely skipping any sort of food, the young girl made her way out for the class' location in spite of the winter cold that she so entirely despised. To combat this chilly threat Azusa wore boots that, while they matched the usual school uniform, were more bulky than stock boots... not to mention an extra fluffy scarf that was designed to have the same black-and-green trim. Trying to separate this teenager from her scarf would be like trying to steal a lollipop from a hungry kid!

Though the run was short Azusa still arrived to the class a tad bit late... just as the last of the students were making it in. Taking just a moment to adjust her hair and make her uniform a bit more presentable, Azusa tried to casually walk into the class as if nothing was wrong. Everything was going as planned. Yup.

Unlike many girls, Azusa did not give Kai Izuki special attention beyond him being an elite student... though most people would not be surprised. After all, the black haired girl tended to be aloof and, probably, rather hard-headed when it came to noticing things most others would notice. So instead of thinking too much on the ambiance that the other students had about the room for the moment Azusa instead focused on the teacher and the introductory part of the class.

Once Azusa was given a question to answer she had to spend some time thinking on how to respond... so much so that she was likely the last person to answer. The green eyed girl would have simply stared at the computer with what seemed to be a blank expression, though in reality... her mind was not racing. Truly she was just casually thinking very carefully about how she should respond. Like many others she, at first, thought there was not enough information to make an informed choice. Rather than respond by demanding more information Azusa tried to outright put herself in the situation like she was experiencing it for real. The medic was a student she had met before, one of the other students was Ohno Sakura and then the last person was... hm... that really serious red haired girl who was not in her uniform would be the last member of the group.

Azusa would never abandon a member of her team no matter how 'necessary' someone thought it was - not so long as she had command at least. The medic had gotten wounded but they were trained from Edo Bugei! Getting hurt was a part of the job and something that they had to be experienced and devoted enough to get through. So, eventually, Azusa typed up her response,
'I would pause the mission long enough to consult with the wounded medical officer so anyone skilled enough yet lacking the knowledge to administer proper field treatment could do it in the stead of the student.' Azusa wrote, having to erase the name of the student she imagined as the officer while she wrote her answer... though she did still call the medic a 'student', 'My reasoning for this course of action is that a full squad would function considerably better than any other alternative. It is to be expected that operatives will be wounded on the field and should have been trained to work through the worst of reasonable wounds from a fatigue and psychological standpoint. Time spent backtracking to a medical area would give the enemy more time to counter our strategies and put even more lives in danger, including the wounded member too.'

With her answer concluded, Azusa continued to think of what might be happening next in this imaginary scenario...
