As Hisashi made his way up the stairwell behind the others, he seemed to look with a slight interest towards the stranger before them. With him being fairly new, he wasn't quite sure who the one that stood before the group was but maybe he'd get to meet formally after the whole thing was over. As it stood now, she was there to try scaring him like the rest. He didn't plan on actually letting her succeed, but at least maybe they'd both have fun with the attempts.

At least, he thought so until the fire had shot out. He suddenly turned his hands into fists as he braced himself out of worry before he slowly calmed down. It wasn't like Hisashi was in danger or it was what he assumed. The school didn't have any reason to just randomly maim the students attending, did it? Of course not. Still, the sudden burst of fire had unsettled him. He brushed a hand over his eyepatch momentarily before shaking his head. No point dwelling on it after all.

"We should all be careful then. If we're going to be seperated, they'll probably only try to scare us harder. I'll start by going to the balcony." he said with a light sigh as he regained his composure, straightening himself out fairly well before once more giving the group a slight smile. Slowly turning on his left heel, he made his way already as he figured they would only proceed with those stones the woman spoke of.

As Oni-Kono-Sensei gave her speech about the student's mission Kire, already a blushing mess, was quick to ask her a question.
"Yeah, ok. Split up." he said. "But...do you have one of the gems?" the oni raised her hand to cover her mouth and chuckled a bit.
"I only care my brute strength. As on Oni, if you all don't hurry, I might have to tear all of your to pieces and eat your flesh." she said it as a response to both Kire and Shinsuke's questions.
"However, for now, I am full as I just ate another group of students less fortunate than yourselves. So wont you please hurry before I start getting hungry once again?" with that she pointed to a set up pile of what looked like human bones but what Kire would be able to tell happened to be very well crafted bone sculptures made with a very hard white clay. The bone pile had blood all over it and even an eye ball inside one of the skull's eye sockets.

Hisashi, of course, was the first student to move out as Oni-Kono-Sensei watched him go. He had declared he would take the balcony overlooking the first floor as his area. The entire area was a massive O shape as all around him bookshelves and private study desks looked down at the group study desks below. Much like the first floor all of the bookshelves seemed covered in thick spider webs. Above the areas something new had been placed. one letter was placed above each set of bookshelves.
"U,S,O,B,E,D,R,L." and in front of Hisashi a strange metal box that came up to his chest. It appeared to have four book shaped slots in it. Now it was up to him if he wanted to play the game or not. It may all just be a waste of time after all.

The bones were a nice touch and it had been a long shot anyway. So Kire nodded and shrugged. Maybe he'd have better luck with the blue Kono-sensei that he'd convinced himself existed. "Thank you anyway, sensei. Your costume is fantastic." He said before he walked off towards the AV room. The other guy took off towards the balcony and Kire didn't spare much of a thought for him. The dangerous heights in a jump scare building was a poor choice if there ever was one.

He didn't give much thought to his third partner either, but he trusted the rich kid to do fine on his own. Well no, more like he was so determined to finish and impress Kono-sensei that he'd forgotten this was a team effort. Let the kid make his own decision, the place a jewel of any color would stand out most would be in a room full of technology. That ought to make it super easy to find. He was pretty sure that the gem wouldn't be in the central area, at least, not if Kono-sensei wasn't holding on to it. But, maybe, once the other places were searched, he could search the area a little harder as an excuse to hang out with the red demoness.

Once again the diplomat-in-training ran into a situation that would've been different given other circumstances. Someone who looked very much like a teacher done up in makeup during a school sanctioned event with 'bones' nearby had would normally be obvious showmanship. Or it should have been. When you'd already been spooked by other things not so long beforehand it was a totally different matter. Perhaps he could've been forgiven for that but in his current condition things were just spookier than usual.

So the teacher threatening offhandedly to eat them carried more menace to it than it probably did for the other two. A shiver went up his spine when he noticed the bones and figured that this was a good time to get going. He'd not worn his relic today anyhow, so it wasn't like he stood a chance against such a being. Shinsuke took a couple of steps back with a bit of fear clear in his eyes. Finding he was the last one to decide to vacate the premises, he looked around helplessly for a moment in an attempt to decide where to head off to.

"I.. don't suppose it would change your mind if I said that I was born out of a peach, would it?" he asked, making a ridiculous reference to Momotaro before getting out of Dodge.

After considering the options the study rooms seemed like they'd be the most calming option. His brain needed time to regroup from all the scary things going on around him. Alone in the library, with who knew what lurking around the corners. Just the sort of situation he didn't deal with well. He realized that wherever she was, his sister was probably having a whale of a time with this. The girl knew no fear it seemed.

"Okay, we can do this," he told himself as he arrived at a study room and reached for the door handle.

As soon as Hisashi had come walking up onto the balcony, he had taken note that he should be careful. While he didn't think he was feeling particularly jumpy, he wasn't going to end up letting his guard down just because he seemed alone now. Initially, he seemed uncertain of what he should expect although as he glanced around he noticed the older thing lingering here other than him were the books. Had he come to the wrong place already? He found himself moving about to try finding anyone who might be hiding, although he didn't seem to have much luck.

Only after giving the shelves closer inspection did he notice that each book had a marking above it. A single letter per book which seemed to imply either a pattern or a puzzle of some sorts. As he glanced back to the strange box sitting in the center, he made his way over to it. Curiously, he found himself pressing his thumbs against the lid to try lifting it before glancing from the books to the slots on the box. He looked around for further signs of any hints that might imply some order of action, but he relented as he looked back to each of the separate book. Slowly, he found himself pacing over to select ones to fetch them as he found himself idly muttering different words. Coming back to the chest, he seemed to look carefully at it before sliding in one book at a time into each slot.

"D,U,E,S." had been what he had formed first. It seemed to be one of the best guesses he had with what seemed to be little hints of the situation. It didn't seem particularly fright inducing, but perhaps that had been the intention from the start. No matter how he looked at it, the only string of logic he could form was books being overdue which didn't really sound all that interesting after he thought more on it.

Oni-Kono-sensei said nothing to Kire's compliment as he went off towards the AV room. Inside the AV room was extremely cramped. It was a small room mostly used to hold old recording devices. Inside he would find six reels of film labeled "I, II, III, IV, V, and VI" as well as an old projector and white screen. Though the room would also contained three tape records with old tapes in them and a locked closet.

Back with Oni-Kono-Sensei Shinsuke decided to make a joke about being born from a peach, but once again got no response except a gaze of pure hunger from the woman. As though at any time she may decide to rip his head off and consume his flesh. Instead Shinsuke went off to the private study rooms. At present Shinsuke would find two solo study quiet rooms and one group room. The three doors would be unlocked but all three rooms would be pitch black. Now it was a matter of which rooms Shinsuke would examine first.

Finally, Hisashi had chosen four books and placed them in the container to try and unlock the chest above. In response the "D" and "U" books got violently launched from the box. One or both likely hitting Hisashi in the ribs while the other two came out a bit slower and dropped to the ground.

It was a mystery, well, not a real mystery that mattered but a riddle of some kind. Some puzzle game that he'd have to solve rather than any kind of hidden object finding thing. Oh well, he could solve this, after all, Kono-sensei was relying on him to do it. This seemed all straightforward enough, six reels, three tapes, one projector and one locked closet. Likely the key or code would be on the projector.

First step would be to check the film reels. He made sure the projector was plugged in and set up then put the first reel in. The first reel being the one labelled I. While that started up, he fished out the first tape to see if he could get that to play as well. Probably there was some connection between them, though how that would net him a key to a closet, he couldn't guess. Maybe it'd just be another hint.

Sticking around with Oni-Kono-sensei would have just been asking to be consumed on the spot. Assuming that she really was an oni now (or had always been one?), at least. Regardless it would've been a big pile of 'nope'. Seeking out the study rooms had seemed to him like a simple matter. After all how scary could a private study room even be? Then again you had to think that a library this spooky was bound to have even more nasty surprises waiting for you. On edge from everything else he found himself needing to slow down and consider the options.

Two solo rooms and one group room were available to search and all of them seemed to be in the same condition. Dark and thus hiding away any hint of whatever tricks and traps might be awaiting within. Given that a spirit child had been holding decapitated heads downstairs and a teacher had become an oni, anything was possible. Then what would provide the readiest avenue of escape should he need to flee? Solo rooms were intimate and small to provide an unhindered study experience. Also being small meant that if anything were inside and waiting for him, it'd be harder to get away. Therefore the bigger room was his first choice - at least he had some options for escape should that become necessary.

"Okay, it'll be all right," he told himself as he reached out and turned the handle to the group study room.

Seeming to watch with a mild curiosity as he slid each book in, he began to wait wondering if something might happen in front of him or not. As it fired back, Hisashi's eye widened for a moment in surprise before he simply moved a hand to gently rub against his abdomen. "I guess that didn't cut it. But I feel like I have plenty of time nonetheless. On to the next try." he'd say with a slight sight as he looked once more upon his options. Evidently it was a puzzle, although he had to think he didn't see how it was a good one without some kind of riddle of some sort to answer. At this rate, he could be guessing for a while.

Reaching down to grip the two books that hadn't nailed him in his stomach, he seemed to contemplate before going to reach over to the shelves to fetch two more. A sudden realization had just come down upon him, one which meant horror if he couldn't disprove his thought. Glancing down at the book, he decided he'd try to put them in just a bit differently. Sliding one after another, he has spelt out "R,O,S,E." this time in hopes of trying to test the mechanism.

Kire's quest in the AV room had begun. Noticing the locked closet he assumed the answer would be on one of the materials in the room. in order to help things go smoother he set up the projector and put in reel I at the same time as he played the first voice recording. Fortunately the two did over lap but not as he had hoped. At first the voice recording was nothing but static noise as on screen Oni-Kono-Sensei's face appeared. She said nothing and just looked at Kire for a wall. Then she looked as though she was about to say something, opening her mouth until suddenly on the voice recorder Kire the static stopped and Kire heard both the voice recording, and the projector, say the same word.
"Wrong" and both stopped. Neither one had any information.

In the study area Shinsuke entered the large group study room of the library to see four figures sitting around a single table. The moment the room door was open completely all four figure's heads suddenly turned to reveal white skulls with Christmas light eyes, all four heads turning and screaming at once. If Shinsuke moved at all or moved the door he would quickly notice the door was connected to a simple rigging of wires. The actual room was completely empty.

Finally, back with the books Hisashi was gradually working on the puzzle. In spite of taking a book to the ribs he had decided to press forward with the investigation. Looking at the mechanism Hisashi grabbed the books to spell the word "rose". Sliding all four books in the pedestal glowed with an eerie red light, brighter and brighter, seeming as thought it would consume the entire area like a giant laser beam of death as a horrific buzzing noise came from the pedestal, the buzzing itself getting louder as the laser great in intensity until finally both stopped and the chest at the top simply opened. Inside was a crimson gem.

CRIMSON GEM ACQUIRED

Well that was disappointing, but then it was never going to be as easy as just playing the first tape with the first reel. Still, he felt that he had something there. After all, Kono-sensei had appeared and Kire considered that good luck. So it wasn't one and one, he had three choices in tapes and six reels so there was bound to be trial and error. The first reel he set to one side, that one was clearly marked, unlike the tapes. So he organized the tapes top to bottom, the first one he tried on top. One, two, and three, a good way to keep track of things.

He put a second tape in and then reel II. In the meantime, he started checking over the remaining four rolls of projector film for any kind of extra hint, why would there be six of them and only three tapes, it didn't make much sense. He kind of hoped that he wouldn't have to try all the reels with one tape, then the next and then the next. That would be time consuming, tedious, and wouldn't impress Kono-sensei at all. He needed another clue and hopefully this tape and reel would give it to him.

Shinsuke immediately let out a yelp when the four sets of eyes turned to face him, taking it to be quite real for the first few moments. He was no fighter much as his father might have wished him to be, so there was but one option. Flee! So the heir of the Todo clan backpedaled toward the door, not terribly coordinated in his movements. Rather than making a hasty retreat his right foot slipped behind his left mid-stride. With a strong impact he landed on his rear end, eyes still wide in fear.

"Ya! Is that a..." he began to wonder aloud as he caught something long and dark out of the corner of his eye. Rather than a snake or something equally scary that would fit that description.. it was wires. Just.. electrical wiring set up to activate what was inside the room. Now that he dared look to the skeletal heads he noticed that they were decidedly artificial.

That gave him an idea. Shinsuke stood up with a grimace - he may have bruised a little more than his ego just now. After confirming he was in good shape other than that bruising he moved over to one of the skulls. Carefully he took hold of it and tried to move it around to use its Christmas light eyes to get a better look at the interior of the room. Just to be sure it was well and truly empty. Only once he was sure that was the case did he release the skull.

"Well, okay.. time to inspect the next room," he thought aloud before heading to the closer of the two solo study rooms and slowly opening its door.

Taking care to try avoiding being hit this time, Hisashi found himself backing away slightly and bracing his arms just incase the books might had tried to shoot out once more at him. He normally wouldn't had been so careful about something so minor except for the chance that the device wasn't as simple as he thought. Yet as he continued to wait, he found himself watching curiously as the light seemed to fill through most of the room breaking the previous dark atmosphere the place had if only for a moment. But Hisashi found himself more preoccupied with the buzzing sound that only got louder.

Letting out a sigh as he moved his hands up to cover his ears, he allowed himself to be covered in the light momentarily with his eye closed. Only after a few moments did he realize both the sounds and sights had returned to normal and before him was a strange gem. Slowly he walked forward before reaching out to take it and gently polish it with his sleeve. It looked real enough and he didn't want to get into any trouble for messing it up even if it wasn't. "A red and a blue. . . I guess we've already finished half of it then, haven't we?" he would say to himself with a faint smile as he turned it around before going to grip it firmly in his hand. He turned back to the way he came before going to make his way to the mystery Oni, hoping his partners had found what they looked for.

As Kire put in reel two and tape two they didn't seem to match up. Reel two was simply Kono-Sensei shaking her head for a few seconds before the film stopped. While the second tape just kept playing for a while until finally going
"No." and shutting off.
When Kire inspect the other film reels he would find five and six to be completely empty, no writing, no appearance to ever even have film in them. Though they also didn't seem dusty, thus proving that unlike everything else in the library, either the person who set up this part was new, or had simply hurried. Of course, the film container could have also just been tightly sealed for a long time.

Meanwhile Shinsuke had examined the entire group study hall only to find nothing of note. Even when he went to look at the first solo study room, a simple room with just a desk and white board, he would find no notes, no fake skeletons, nothing. Just a completely empty room. At least that is what it would seem until Shinsuke checked the back of the white board, finding a simple message scribbled into a corner.
"Not here." was all it said.

Finally, Hisashi had found one of the gems and gone back to the central meeting area to wait for the rest of his group. He did indeed find Oni-Kono-Sensei waiting for him, slowly tapping the piles of bones and picking them up, likely examining them for scraps of meat left upon them. Sadly they had all be picked clean. Looking up she gazed at the stone in Hisashi's hand.
"Hmmm, you mortals may actually make it out alive. What a shame." she said as she took the gem and placed it on the red podium. A massive fireball appeared in the stairwell, killing half of the extremely toxic looking spiders. The rest, however, started moving around faster and looking even more angry. Clearly even a half strength hive of spiders would be dangerous to try and get past.

And now the whole endeavor was becoming decidedly less frightening the further Shinsuke got into it. He seemed to have come a long way from the elevator boy carrying heads if this was the worst he could expect. At least the previous room had simply had skulls in it that had scared him for a moment. This first solo study room was nothing more than a simple message informing him that he had guessed wrong. Actually after everything that'd come before this he was kind of glad that there wasn't anything more to the room. Time to catch his breath and start getting his mind straight.

"Okay, well thank you for being so forward with that information," he thought aloud before stepping out and gently closing the door. Just in case there were any ghosts or something nearby that would be upset by the door closing more strongly.

Now that there was but one place left to check he at first reached for the handle without hesitation. Then he realized a problem with being so eager to get the door open. If the other rooms had been set up in a very normal, non-spooky way wouldn't it stand to reason this one would be scary? They couldn't have guessed what order he'd open the doors in but making one of the three extra spooky made the luck of the draw that much more dangerous. Instead of expedience, he turned the handle slowly and then pulled the door open just enough to peek inside.
