Sengoku Horizon

Look towards the Horizon

The Warring States Period: Fierce warlords fought for control of Japan, and many would perish. When a warrior falls, where does the passion they once held go? Possibly into something dear such as a favorite weapon or heirloom. These heirlooms have been labeled as “relics”, and those that carry them are labeled as “Scions." Recently more and more of these special relics have been activating, signaling the start of a great change as ancient power meets the modern world!

Now For The Local News, 7/10/2017 A blood red summer has come. As the Edo Bugei students finish facing off with the ikko forces all across the nation a massive steel ship floats towards Edo Harbor. The final battle between the Ikko Ikki rebels and the Edo Bugei students is about to begin. The lingering question now, just how much of Edo will be left standing once the battle ends?

Grunts of displeasure and quick, shifting cries of victory intertwined in the air as sweat washed over skin and blood boiled underneath it. Veins flooded with fight or flight as contenders struggled to stay focus in the fast paced one two of certain defeat.

Hana was breathing heavily, a smirk on her face as her opponent circled her, she didn’t mind the ominous seconds of waiting- only relished the therapeutic feeling of her heart pounding out of control in her chest from adrenaline as she. In her left hand, she wielded a simple stick, nothing more than a training spear so she didn’t injure her schoolmates badly. In her right hand, she held nothing at all, but the dangers of her hands were a whole list longer than what she could do with a spear. She held a calm stance, her burgundy eyes jaded and laser focused on her opponent.

Suddenly, it had become a tiger and the poacher scenario.

Finally, the heat in her partners lungs corrupted her, and with no other choice but to act, she lunged at her with all the speed she had left to muster. Hana kept a low profile as she smiled at the girl, fluidly dancing between offense and defense and she belittled her with her spear and viciously attacked her without it.

She punched her firmly beneath her chest when the opening bared itself, the tilt of her fist a designed pattern that forced her backwards into the row of benches behind them. It seemed she forgot her chivalry for a second- she wouldn't hit a training partner like that, much less a woman on her side. But the sharp, painful sound of bones broken by force made it too easy to imagine otherwise. It was crystal clear by her brief expression, the hunger roaring in her velveteen eyes, the darker, primal intent behind her grin - she was so, so, so homesick.

----

Surprisingly she didn’t draw any blood. She was still careful with her, though it seemed like she could care less if she puked out her guts the next morning.

Hana sighed, the cool air rushing over her lips in a gentle hiss. She was a bit of a mess, scraped up here and there, bruised dark red in some places. Her ponytail sweaty and slightly undone from the last 15 minutes of drawn out, vigorous training. She was battered, sure, but somewhere in her heart she felt sorry for the girl- she’d become sluggish since that sickening pop in her ribs from earlier, maybe she’d take her out for ice cream later. Her spirit was certainly admirable.

Patient as ever she waited for her opponent to come at her again, wooden sword being a threat of sudden surprise as she struggled to keep on her toes. Hana scoffed as the girl sneered before grabbing her by her uniform and headbutting her out of instinct, the slightest bit of blood pooling at her now slightly crooked nose as she held it in slight panic- eyes fixated on Hana in murderous intent.

Hana chortled, mere seconds of peace between them. The girl didn't back down however, as if the humiliation of being made fun of by a spearwoman of all people was finally starting to eat at her.

Hana laughed at her fury as it bared its fangs, her opponent knocking the spear out of her hand the only thing locking her back into the spar. Maybe she’d gotten too jovial with this one. Either way she picked her poison wisely enough.

Hana’s smile didn’t seem to leave her face however, it only seem to grow more intense as she brought the small region of her foot up to the side of her head, her own body twisting and adding to the momentum of the bludgeoning technique. She watched as the girl’s eyes lit up in horror, seconds before she was knocked off her feet by the acceleration and strength of the attack, the blow fattening the side of her face as she groaned in pain.

Without a doubt, even when Hana was being friendly she wrecked her opponent, the young woman wasn’t out cold, but with her body and mind a mess, she was unfit to spar any longer. Hana grinned at her opponent as she went to help her up, going as far as to carry her when she wasn’t responding as well as she would’ve liked her to.

“That was really fun! You did so well,”

Words of encourage left her lips as she laid her gently on the bench, she’d be fine! At least she got her name. She guessed she really would take her out sometime, though it’d be a while.

"Come train with me next time, maybe we could get some ice cream later?"

She remarked, smirking at the girl as she had her write her number down. With a sigh, she got up, whispering something unintelligible as she gave one last sly glance as she turned her back on her.

“Sooo, anybody else wanna train with me? I’ve got all day!”

She gushed as she fixed her ponytail. She was sure today was going to be fun, now that she was all warmed up. Preferably someone who’d actually make her feel like a tiger in a corner. Then things would get really get hot.

From the stands Eiji watched as this girl brutalized her victim.
Spear and shield, not that he could blame her. Looked like she hardly needed it. Smiling and friendly even while delivering one hell of a shit kick.
He couldn't help but to feel bad for the victim. He then sat up and watched the pair through his sunflower sunglasses. His red leather jacket squeaking as he moved in his chair. Kinda fucked up to toy with someone like that. Eiji said to himself as she addressed everyone in the arena. Eiji shouldn't really be the one to say that kind of thing, as he has in the past he could be quite the beast himself beating people within an inch of their lives for much smaller things than training or fun. But training for battlefield combat and actual combat hardly where ever the same.
Hey Eiji called out to the woman. you aint gonna attract much takers by beating your opponent to a pulp without much resistance. He said as his glasses remained stagnant in one place. His swords dangling from his hips as he sat back relaxed. You gotta at least deceive any potential sparing partners, make them think they got a chance. savvagechan

Hana hummed, a bit confused at what he was saying. She picked up her spear, tossing him an incredulous stare. To deceive her opponent was something she saw as unjust and unfair. She'd be failing her code if she lied to an opponent and took advantage of their underestimation. As she twirled the training spear between both hands, she remembered a peculiar phrase someone told her long ago; something along the lines of

'Strong women scare weak mean.'

Not entirely true- strong women scared other women just as well- and she knew what it felt like to be afraid of one. Still, could this be what the phrase was alluding to?

"That's not a bad thing. If you don't think you're capable then don't endanger yourself. To do such a thing makes both partners look bad,"

She noted, on hand on her hip as she held the staff with the other for balance. She was still quite friendly in tone, but as she raised a brow she wondered what exactly this guy was getting at.

"Your partner would look like a fool, and you'd look like a coward. I wouldn't make fun of someone like that- lying to them is just so low."

She huffed, her hand gesturing her detest as she pointed downwards. A few of the students mumbled at her words, shifting between how right she was and how cocky she was being.

"Then again, you did answer my call...okay! Let's train really hard unless you'd rather sit around and spectate."

Hana giggled as she spun the training spear, before sticking it firmly in the ground. As she stretched, she felt excitement rippling through her and nipping at her skin. Her adrenaline was rising up again and her thirst for the fight was beginning to grow insatiable once more.

Eiji looked down at the watch on his wrist before pushing him self forward off of the bleachers and down the seats towards the arena. Ive got some time to kill so why not. He said as he did a small jump off of the bleachers
This girl looked a little too giddy, maybe she had a screw loose. Well to be fair most of the Combatants at Edo Bugei had a screw or two loose. Eiji Clicked one of his swords out. The blade gleaming as the light reflected off of it he then shoved the scabbard into the hand guard while twisting it toward him. Locking it in place to make sure it stayed in place. There we go, hope you dont mind this approach. The Wooden ones just don't got the weight of the real ones. In fact they where a bit heavier with the scabbards on.
Someone is exited. He said in response to her upbeat personality and stance. What rules are we using for this bout? Eiji asked as he rested his hands on his sword handles.

Honestly, whether or not she had a screw loose was up for debate. Maybe years of training broke something inside her mind, maybe she was just your everyday poster girl for spontaneous and excited emotion. Who had the right to tell whether someone was offbeat or not? No one at all- God had that power but he chose to be mute.

Her deep, vermillion hues never left his form as she watched him makes his way towards her, slow and steady- he was saving his energy? Probably, either way, it'd do him some good. Hana might've been tired- but when you have a passion so deeply rooted it's hard to quit. It was something of a rush, straight into her heart like a lethal injection. Its effects were intense, powerful; frightening even. But it'd never kill her now if it didn't already.

"Realistic approach? I do like that in a warrior."

She praised as she looked at the wooden spear, twirling it around her slender fingers with the flexibility of a cat. She'd keep her weapon of course, Spears came in many materials, wood was a common type.

"It shows that you're not timid, not shy of facing your opponent. It'll do you well in a real fight."

Real fights...Hana was obsessed with the very notion it seemed. How could she? Her clan was rather known for it warriors. She'd been raised with that ideal infringed into her very core.

She gripped the spear, now genuinely focused on the spar as the wind settled to a gentle howling. She took on a defensive position. Throughing her opponent a smile seconds before their match.

"However, this is still a spar, come whenever you're ready."

Her stance was scholarly for her level, the art of Sojustsu not yet beaten into her bones- but she made sure to make great strides in it at every turn. Every spar, every mission- class, it was practice for her, hopefully, she would learn from this encounter as well. The placement of her hands, finger- were intimidation incarnate, for the untrained especially and for the jaded unsettling at best. Though she seemed so kind, cheerful even. It was clear her aura had shifted like the speed of the wind. It was not dark, yet it was incredibly sinister. Gentle hands, Hana, gentle hands.

Gotcha Eiji said in a bland tone.
This was no normal short bubbly high school girl. Everything about her, her aura shouted to his gut that she was not to be fucked with. Liar, Eiji thought to himself she did deceive people with that bubbly giggle and happy smirk.
This girl had a body count, Though Eiji would wager his was higher.
Eiji reached up and took off his glasses and set them in his pocket. This girl wasn't to be underestimated. He stared at her with his dead grey eyes, before getting into a stance of his own. Ok ill play your game. He said as he started into a run, wakasashi in his left arm katana in his right. He charged her with everything he had. He slashed hard downwards with his katana,as he did the he simultaneously threw his wakasazhi like a throwing knife quickly, her gut being its target. Hopefully this would lead to another opening. If not then this girl couldnt hit that hard with that spear, .....Right?

She was fast, and fluid- not like water that needed gentle direction. But like a fire that crackled and burned whoever and whatever it wanted. All her movements were fluid, reflex no doubt. Her smile never left her face. She and the spear were one body, one functioning unit, for the minutes she was air born, shielding off the katana with strong leg muscles in a clean spiral, Her staff was held in a vertical, guarding position over her stomach. Though the blade pierced her training gear slightly, she made sure the blade stayed hilted in the wood.

Pulling it out, she flicked her wrist, sending it deep into the ground. Her blood red eyes focused on her opponent again- squinting with laughter.

"I thought we were sparring. No matter, if that makes you feel safer then that's fine with me."

Now it was her turn, and she rushed with the drive only something that crawled out of hell could possess. She'd used her spear, though made of wood, with at least intermediate understanding. Backing into him, she struck at his kneecaps, then if she got the chance, she'd take the opening at his neck.

The atmosphere was light and cheerful, a stark contrast to her power. But she'd like not to scare anyone off. Do not be afraid to challenge fear.

Your enemies on the field aint gonna pull punches, and i sure as hell aint gonna either, You gotta be prepared for shit like that Killer, otherwise you will end up dead. Eiji said as she flicked the blade into the ground.
His words came from experience, its best every student learn that now, might end up with less body bags. Eiji thought as he glimpsed into her eyes. His dead grey eyes meeting her vermilion hues. A deep fire burned behind them, and Eiji was gonna do his best to throw as much gas into that fire as possible. He wanted to know just how brightly it could burn.
He tensed up as she backed into him. Feeling the spear knock into his knee he let out a grunt as it throbbed, Damn this bitch could hit hard, He could feel her animosity leaking out of her. He reeled his head back revealing his neck, but not with a face of pain, but with a smug grin. As he threw back his head he shot out with his free hand stopping the lunge with his palm, A nasty sound of bone meeting wood quietly resonated as he did this. He wasnt gonna lie, it hurt. It would be bruised tomorrow, but tomorrow doesnt matter in the here and now. He wanted to grab the spear but it just wasnt gonna happen. He backed away swiping his katana in a arc to create some space between them.
Damn Killer slow down a bit. He teased as he eyed his missing wakasashi. Eiji gripped his katana as he entered a high stance.
Cmon giggles, im wide open, show me what you are made of.
Eiji said with a smile, he was startin to have a little fun.

"Clearly, you don't know what your opponents are made of,"

Hana snickered, attempting to grab him by his collar and headbutt him. The funny thing was, you could never put your enemy in a box like that. If you did, then you'd be cornering them and that way you'd be turning them into a tiger. Not the wisest choice.

Of course, she was much less of a talker in a spar, unless she was feeling extra cocky- she ignored most of his words with a smile as she focused on getting as many hits in as she could.

Her movements were fluid as dance as she lept into the air, using her spear as balance as she sent it driving into a marked target on his body. She didn't even take her crimson eyes off him as she tried to avoid the swinging blade. Her smile never left her face as bits of her bleached white hair fell from moving so quickly. She seemed so enthralled, yet at the same time, she was accurate and careful.
