"I don't think he was being serious," Suishoku uttered to the side of her froggy commander the moment she was sure the old man was out of ear shot. What sort of pet store owner would even consider that notion!? They're students claiming pet rabbits! Not making some bunny mentsukes out of them! Sometimes this old man sure has something to say about what they did and could use an old lady to dote on him constantly.

"I'll find a fruit basket to send over to say it's from the two of us to appease them." The fool proof tried and true gift item for anyone sick. They left past a canary cage and song birds to the fluffy area of puppies, kittens, and their friendly rabbit corner. Seeing some familiar faces, or just forgotten ones and were curious on the large frog approaching their pen, the bunnies cluttered to the side sniffing quizzically. Most were roughly palm sized while a cage beside it had some larger ones.

At a glance were there some new additions since working part time mixed in. Alert, shy, floppy eared or just cotton balls with legs; all were adorable in their little bunny world. "Alright, hmm..." She dipped her hand into the cage as a test to see if it scared off any. A few did scatter at first thanks to her rain poncho making Suishoku seem larger and more predator than needed to be. Her hand waited in the cage for awhile till a few of the skiddish ones came over to nudge and her fingers and sniff at it before wanting some petting attention. Of the ones that did want to be touched did Suishoku picked up a purple gray sort of short hair with erect ears.

"Wanna come home with me?" She asked while picking up the lilac bunny to cradle and pet its silky dense coat. It seemed to enjoy the petting attention and tried not to jump away in the process. Feeling to have picked the right one, Suishoku continued to hold it and bring it to the register to get it caged and ready for transport as to not scare off Yumiko's partner selection.

Yumiko nodded at Suishoku's fruit basket idea. Yumiko didn't know the boy extremely well, however they had worked together and Yumiko still hoped that he would be alright. Yumiko watched carefully as Suishoku looked over the rabbits. Naturally some of them scattered as the two approached but as Suishoku kept her hand in the pen a few of the rabbits seemed to move closer to Suishoku for pets.

Meanwhile Yumiko looked at the animals. Seeing a small pen of a few rabbits she crouched down to look at them. However it seemed that with her frog outfit the rabbits quickly jumped away from the edge of their pen that Yumiko had crouched out. Yumiko titled her head a bit before realizing that to the rabbits she probably didn't look human, and likely looked like some kind of wet green monster. Pouting a bit Yumiko stood up fully and took off the hood of her outfit, as well as the green gloves, revealing that she was in fact a cute human girl and not some froggy predator.

Looking over the rabbit she saw it, the rabbit she had wanted since right before she left. One would be hard pressed at a distance to tell the difference between the large, white angora rabbit and a massive ball of cotton someone cleverly placed inside a cage. Looking at the rabbit Yumiko calmly placed her hand in the cage. The other rabbits came over and sniffered and nudged at her fingers but the large ball of fluff didn't move. Frowning a bit she worried something may have happened, or the rabbit may be sick. However, as Yumiko moved her hand closer to the rabbit it suddenly jumped and looked at her hand wide eyed before moving closer.
"....I'm sorry for waking you up." she said with a bit of a sower expression. She didn't mean to startle it.

The rabbit rested its head against Yumiko's hand and she smiled wide. It was perfect and what she had wanted even before they had started working at the pet store. It was all thanks to the rabbit cafe Suishoku had taken her too.
"I'm sorry, its wet outside but I'll try my hardest to keep you safe." she said with a smile as she picked up the massive cotton ball.
"Yuki. Yuki is a perfect name." she said with a kind smile as she took her new friend to the counter. She looked honestly happy, and as she looked outside as the heavy down pour she wasn't sure how she would get the rabbit back to the Bugei, but she would find a way.

With the lilac rabbit put in its cage and Suishoku getting her wallet, the price that rang up on the register made her pout and look at the old man and his cheeky confident tight lips. Not even a 5% discount for not being former staff!? Suishoku quietly shared a silent argument while taking out her student funds card. This was for Yumiko but arguing the price was too though without making the rabbits scared. The card was held out to him albeit not too willingly. As soon as he took hold of the card was there a static inducing tug of war with the old man's bony fingers trying to pull it out of her grasp. "You keeping good health sir? Wouldn't want you to get sick as well," she politely spoke with gritted teeth.

"Your concern is most noted by my health isn't something to worry over," he begrudgingly battled. "Some grip you have there. Not so willing to spend on these rabbits? Ones too old go to the soup kitchens, ye heard?"

"Well these ones are going to good homes. Can't disappoint much on the mission."

"You odd Bugei kids and your missions," he pulled at the card a little and laughing it off. The tug of war was hitting a stale mate in their passive aggressive. Once Yumiko came over did he spot the opportunity to point them out. "And that's three rabbits in total."

"Three!?" Suishoku looked to Yumiko in shock. The rabbits were cute and all but did she fall for their cuteness to get a pair!? As soon as she turned to look at the froggy girl (realizing the singular puff ball in her arms) did her card get taken, swiped on the register and handed back on a money holder. "That will be 28,900 yen for two pure rabbits, including the rabbit cages. Animal safety is priority." He said leaving Suishoku a bit concerned if which was hiked higher, the carry cages or the fact the rabbits are pure breeds.

"I didn't expect these little guys to cost this much," Suishoku sighed and took her card back to sign for the exchange.

"Girl," the man corrected as he brought up the carrying cage for Yumiko to place the angora in.

"Excuse me?"

"Ahem, your rabbit. The rabbit you purchased was a female."

One look at the rabbit quickly made her change names and mindsets that it was now a girl. "Ohh..., thank you for the correction." Guess Tobi is now a Tabi now.

As Suishoku was in a word for word battle with the shop owner Yumiko giggled a bit. The old man was clearly stubborn with a bit of a mean streak to him, however, in the end he allowed them to get their rabbits. Yumiko hadn't expect Suishoku to pay for it and gave a deep bow, holding her rabbit.
"Thank you, Senpai." she said politely.

With the old man correcting her senpai Yumiko looked at her fluffball. Yuki was a gender neutral name so it wasn't a huge deal. Though as Yumiko looked at her newly acquired giant ball of fur it seemed impossible to tell the gender through all of the fur. Yumiko just looked at the store owner with a bit of a questioning look.
"Sir,what gender is Yuki?" she asked politely as the man was busy getting cages for the students. Looking outside as she heard a bit of a thunderclap it looked like the rain wasn't letting up.

"Senpai. Maybe we really should call someone to get us...." she said with a worried look. It wasn't uncommon for students to be stuck out in the provinces somewhere. However, it was rare for students to get trapped within the Shogun's own city. Yet as the lighting in the store flickered a bit the animals seemed to curl up and back into corners. Clearly they understood how bad the storm was getting. Of course she was happy she had her rabbit, and would celebrate it soon enough. For now, though, it was clear that she needed to figure out a way to actually get their party of four back to the school safely or else getting the two rabbits would be for not.

Her card sank back into the confines of her wallet while purposely turned away so he won't see any of her 10,000 yen bills as emergency cash. The lilac rabbit and her wallet was taken away and put the safety distance of five feet from the register in the prevention that the shop owner had an elastic arm to squeeze out more. Yumiko had her turn at the register just to collect and and sex check with the pet. Curiously she leaned an ear in their direction; just what gender was this puff ball!?

The older hrmmed in a way while check the rabbit over with care and moved the fur away. "It is a a girl," he spoke after some time of checking down to the skin of the monstrous fluff. "Would you prefer a boy, young miss?" He asked as an option rather than give one to the older student.

Suishoku hugged her cage and went to the window to check on the weather. Thunder boomed somewhere toward the western part of the city and she counted down for the flashes of lightning. "Five, six seven," she paused as a streak went by. Taking the train would be a challenge. Luckily she brought an umbrella and a poncho. "I could ask for a ride but it'll be awhile. We could try wrapping up the cages with my poncho and I'll stick with the umbrella. As long as I take a hot bath back at the dorms then it should be okay," Suishoku theorized the usual ward against pneumonia.

Yumiko looked for a moment at the man. She did like the thought of having a boy rabbit, but she didn't mind a female one. After all this rabbit was the one that she was drawn to, and this is the rabbit she planned to rescue from both the pet store and the insane storm coming in. Shaking her head she politely responded.
"A female rabbit is fine." Yumiko said cheerfully. After all Yuki still fit as a name. The man shrugged a bit and accepted Yumiko's money as he put the rabbit away in a box and handed it to her.

"You kids be careful. It would be a shame if something happened to the rabbits." he said rather stubbornly. It was difficult to tell if the man actually cared about the girls themselves or the pets, or either, but here he was still telling them to stay safe. As Yumiko walked over to Suishoku a plan was hatched about wrapping the boxes and using an umbrella. Given the current weather it was clear they didn't have that much time to consider their options.
"Walking back to school would take a long time. We should go back to the train station." she said with a firm nod. Neither had received a text about the train service being cancelled yet and they weren't that far off from the next train arrival time. At most it would mean standing in the storm alone for a few minutes like before. Thus Yumiko put her frog outfit fully back on and prepared for a soggy war outside!

The ride may have taken awhile but the honest answer was that Suishoku wasn't willing to call a hitoriki to go out of their way for a pair of rabbits. They would answer her in a time of emergency or under Izuki-senpai's order and neither of those were an available option. Their plan to at least cover the rabbits would do enough as well as the umbrella. Wind wasn't much of an issue this time when it was a deluge of water pouring from the sky. Suishoku took her poncho off and had it wrap around the carry cages of the rabbits. With some adjustments done on how to carry them, she ended up stacking the two carries on top of each other and draping the poncho over and around them. In the end the cages were carried like parcels and Suishoku was outside with the umbrella hanging over her shoulders with the hook secured in place with her thumb. With her arms now full did she now leave Yumiko in the custody of her wallet for money and train card scanners.

Getting the arrangements on how to go about carrying the rabbits, they set out back into the rain. Water ran down the streets in a rush to fill the storm drains. Lower areas started to look like small ponds and the streets could pass for canals. Carrying their precious cargo in two did the girls make their way back to the station. Rain drops pelted the waxy umbrella like a water jet with their boots kicking up more droplets one the way to the station. Another streak of lightning crossed the sky for a few four counts before thunder rumbled. The two rabbits may be scared of the noise or a combination of their darkened covers. "Hopefully the room is bunny proofed enough," Suishoku started to comment on her situation of trying to tube wires with foam to discourage rabbits biting away at her laptop charger cables.

Suishoku managed to shield the rabbits from the ongoing storm as she and Yumiko made their way to the train station. As they got to the station Yumiko quickly got their tickets and they waited on the train. An announcement came over the speaker, unfortunately barely audible over the storm.
"TRAINS ARE RUNNING SLOWER DUE TO THE STORM! PLEASE HAVE PATIENCE!" it said as Yumiko hung out under an awning waiting for their ride. Looking around at all of the rain and darkening skies she wondered if the city would flood soon.
"I'm glad our school is on a hill!" she shouted at her senpai as loud as she could so Suishoku could hear her over the storm.

Though the chaos and roaring thunder the loud horn of a train could be heard in the distance as the large vehicle came across the rails. The doors opened and Yumiko was quick to get in. Inside the train it seemed no one else was on board. This wasn't surprising given the storm outside, but it helped to point out just how bad the storm outside had gotten. Doing her best to get the rain off of her outfit, and dripping everywhere, she tried to sit down as the train started moving.
"I hope the rabbits will be alright senpai." she said in a deeply concerned voice. Yumiko knew a lot about rabbits, how cute they where, how to write about and observe them, etc. but she didn't actually know much about rabbit's health or integrity.

Even as the train moved it lurched slowly as more water gushed down it's clear windows. Due to the storm it felt as though visibility outside was almost nothing. For a storm that hadn't been declared a hurricane, in some ways it certainly felt like one.

The weather must be out against them for going after these rabbits. Suishoku could only think that as they splashed their way into the station and climbed to the platform with the rabbits in tow. The rain water smacking her arms and hands whenever the wind shifted enough or came to a drain gutter that splashed violently in the summer storm. Maybe they should have coupled the rabbits together in one cage to keep them warm but there's no telling for sure till they're actually in the train cars. Yumiko shouted something about the school being on a hill during the delay announcements and pouring rain. She could only nod while clutching the carriers.

With more energy than departing Bugei, the girls rushed on and moved towards the heater vents of the train car. Suishoku set the carriers down on the floor for a moment as she rung up her poncho and umbrella to drip the water near the door entry way. Even with rain boots on and umbrella were her clothes a bit damp either from the rain itself or how muggy the weather has gotten. "To the baths for sure after this one," she sighed in comparison to Yumiko's full attire who should be dryer by far.

She took a moment to ring out her clothes a bit before unwrapping the poncho and setting the carriers on the sets one at a time. Looking in were a fear scared rabbits that weren't right sure of what's going on in their little fluffy world. "We're on the home stretch though. You could play with them to calm them down," she offered Tabi up with Yuki for Yumiko to handle. "My hands might be a bit cold for them." For now was the safest check point till their station that the delays didn't matter all that much. Peering outside though, with how the rain moved down the car windows like a curtain, Edo may as well have been flooded.
