Sumida Ward, Edo. The busy streets of Edo's sports and gambling district made it next to impossible for most people to move about freely mid day. Most of the time one simply had to go with the stream of people moving through the area in hopes of getting to wherever they wanted to be on time. Going against the large river of human bodies was considered borderline suicide. At least that's how it usually was. As a single figure walked towards the river of people going through the street everyone instantly moved aside. Like Moses parting the Red Sea a single figure moved towards his home.

He wasn't a particularly large man, but he was very well tattooed with a picture of a geisha being gutted tattooed on his back. Three gold chains hung around his neck and his eyes seemed particularly fierce. Standing at 5'6" he was the man many called the "King of Eastern Edo" an extremely cut-throat gang member who had somehow managed to survive three assassination attempts just within the past year. Some by rival gangs, some by Tokugawa metsuke who'd finally had enough of him. In spite of his extremely violent reputation, however, no one ever bothered to testify against him. Either they owed him too much money, or he somehow silenced them. No one even really knew his name anymore. Everyone simply called him KING.

A few problems came from King's existence though. The first being that many in Sumida Ward from samurai on down owed him a lot of money. The second problem was that even though it was obvious who he was when he was out and about, no one actually knew his home location. The third, and worst problem of all, somehow he seemed to survive assassination attempts like they never happened. His body was covered in thick scars to prove the point even more clearly. Finally, after a lot of debate, a group of metsuke finally begged the shogunate to take care of the problem. Admitting they had thought they could handle the issue themselves and thus hadn't made King a large issues on the shogunate's radar. Appalled at this a mission request was instantly sent to Edo Bugei. The request read as follows.
"A Yakuza leader is causing too many problems in Eastern Edo. He has apparently survived multiple assassination attempts and knows that both the Shogunate and other gang lords are on to him. Please see that he is dealt with. He is known to be extremely violent, so all forms of lethal force have been authorized. Please find his home and take care of him there. We don't need the public to be on edge. We have a large concert happening in Eastern Edo this evening.

-Central Metsuke Bureau, Edo Castle.

This wasn't a defense mission, nor an arrest mission. The order war clear, once the mission started the man who called himself King was to be killed. So as two people had accepted the mission a metsuke handler was sent to Edo Bugei to meet them at the front gate around the hour of the Rooster.
"Thank you for accepting this request." he would say to the two.
"The man you are going after is a feared local Yakuza leader named King. We don't know where he lives, but he is well known in the area. King has survived multiple assassination attempts and we don't know how so be careful. Unfortunately we don't know his location at this time so you will have to find places to ask, I suggest local public baths, or gambling dens. A lot of Yakuza know him, tough which are for him and which want him dead we can't be sure. This is an extremely important mission so please be careful. Also, be discrete. A lot of Eastern Edo's population will be at a large concert tonight. To the best of our knowledge King won't be attending. Find him, take him out." he would say, letting the two get on a train from Northern Edo to Sumida ward. Now the question was once they arrived in Sumida how would they begin their hunt.

Kitsu would arrive to the briefing area in the castle. He and the other person would be thanked for accepting the mission and hand, and Kitsu would bow respectfully in return. He would listen to the briefing, thinking to himself about his expectations for the mission. An assassination of a high ranking Yakuza gang member. He had his own intentions of creating a clan, and he couldn't help but feel that a gang like the Yakuza is oddly close to one.

A group of families that engage in warlike conflict, some illegal, where as some of it is within the confines of the law. Definitely not unlike a clan, though being within or outside of the confines of law depends on who you ask, and where your allegiance lies. Either way, this Yakuza gang member was in the way of Kitsu moving on to greatness. Kitsu felt as though the only one who should be called 'King' of any area of Edo was himself, so whoever this current king was, needed to be taken out.

Pushing his hidden agenda aside, Kitsu would listen to the rest of the briefing, pondering how the pair of them would find the target in the first place. But first, introductions were in order. He would turn to the other participant of this assassination and simply nod at them in a vastly more disrespectful manor than the bow given to the one briefing them. "Name's Momochi. Kitsu. Lets say we kill this guy quick, eh?" Kitsu would stroke the grip of his pistol as he talked, as if he were lusting after a good fight.

"Question is, where do we start looking?" Kitsu was more of a thug than a tracker. He was itching to put a bullet into some rival gang members, and especially King, but wasn't keen on the whole discrete aspect of it, so needed to see if his ally had some ideas or advice. "My idea is to just find some guys from his gang and get the information out of them one way or another. But that's not really discrete unless we want a slightly higher body count. Dead men tell no tales and all that crap."

Carmine arrived at about the same time as Kitsu, dressed in fine clothes, with black slacks, a white long-sleeved shirt, with a black vest, his customary black hat on top of his head as he stood upright and proper. When the Handler thanked them for taking the job, he would bow politely himself, not unlike his partner, as he listened to the job that was given to him.

A gang leader? While Carmine completely understood one's desire to be famous, or powerful, or respected, in any combination, doing so at the expense of others was abhorrent to the student. Even if he wasn't asked to do this job from the castle, if he was aware of 'King' then he would have made efforts to try to take the Yakuza boss.

With the briefing complete, the Shiba turned to his partner who was much less polite, but he would offer a proper bow nonetheless. "Shiba, Carmine, a pleasure to make your acquaintance Kitsu. I do agree, I feel this King needs to be skewered as soon as possible." An eager smile was on his own face, gripping the hilt of his rapier.

"Well, nobody knows where he lives. We can probably assume Eastern Edo, as thats the area that he would be most safe. If anyone knows where he lives, it'd be someone loyal. We just have to break that loyalty, eh? They're all criminals, menaces to society... they might not be the targets, but I don't see why the body count has to only include the King. After all, kill him, and someone below could just take his place." He explained, as a gloved hand came to his chin as he began rubbing it in thought.

"We don't wanna just gun people down in the middle of the streets. I suggest we find a gambling den, and... make some noise. If nobody there can help us, then they can probably direct us to someone who can. Wash, rinse, repeat. Eventually we'll either find "King"'s home, or King will catch word, and he'll come to us. Win Win." He suggested, looking his partner up and down. He seemed like the kind of guy who could handle himself in a fight, and could certainly appreciate a bar brawl. It was always nice to have a bit of range.

(OOC: Kitsu and Kajowwojak sorry for the wait. Lets get this ball rolling!)

The handler for the mission listened intently and Kitsu and Carmine talked out a plan. The two students seemed to be well enough on the same path. They would start in a seedy location and work through a network of people to either find King's home or lure King out. The plan seemed reasonable enough to the mission handler. Though how they would even get people to talk while wearing Edo Bugei uniforms was beyond him. Instead the nameless Tokugawa agent pulled out a map to hand the two.
"This is how you get to Isoroku street. I suggest you being your search here. Its a pretty low class part of Eastern Edo if you get my meaning." and with that the two would be sent on their way to Sumida ward.

As the two left for Eastern Edo Kitsu would feel a strange presence watching him, but be unable to see it. It wouldn't be the first or last time this feeling came over him. It seemed to be whenever he was within view of Edo Castle, which was unfortunately quite often. Though he couldn't see who's eyes stalked him the feeling never left him until Edo Castle was out of view. Inside the castle, on a large balcony, the current leader of the Hattori ninja had his eyes locked dead on Kitsu as they glowed fierce and red like a beast stalking prey. The shinobi leader had no intention of letting the young man out of his sights. Not now, likely not ever. After all if someone from the Iga was going to cause chaos and try to take over parts of Edo, he would either need to be brought under control at some point, or violently executed to stop a potential problem from spreading.
"Run rabbit, lets see how far you go."
With that the current Hattori leader moved his hand slowly over his eyes as his field of vision narrowed and his line of site diminished. He wanted Kitsu to sense someone watching him. He wanted that boy to constantly be on edge whenever he moved around in the city. After all, if one was constantly expecting an ambush, they would be better prepared for when an ambush actually came.

Unfortunately for Carmine and Kitsu they would be on their train ride for some time until finally arriving on a rather run down looking train station. It was already getting towards evening and as the sun set the train and joining station felt surprisingly empty. Most of Edo had indeed gone to the event, leaving the two students alone in a rather shady area. Around them the station and even one of the still trains currently under repair had been covered in graffiti. If the two chose to look at the map they had been given they would find three marked locations.

Location 1. Yamana Bath House. Far away.
Location 2. Kengo Gambling Den. Medium distance away.
Location 3. Kamina Liquor. Near by.

Now it would be up to the two to decide which location they wanted to visit. The map itself showed a rather intricate maze of back and side streets around the area that would be difficult to check in any reasonable amount of time. It was very clear that if they simply scanned the entire area they would never find who they happened to be looking for, and could even be easily ambushed by going into the back alley ways.

What they needed now was to figure out which location they would travel to and what they would do upon arriving, so as their steadily unfolding tale could continue.

Kitsu would bow to the 'nameless Tokugawa' as they received the last bit of briefing for the mission, and turned to leave. Kitsu felt a presence as they left the meeting spot. It was a feeling that was becoming more common as he seemed to get farther along in his first plan for reviving his clan. Was someone watching somehow? Undoubtably a scion from the Shogunate, but who could track with abilities like that...

Kitsu would shake his head to get the thoughts out of his head, and would notice that the weird feeling was at least not bothering his current teammate, so it either didn't bother him, wasn't being watched, or was very good at hiding it. He would tell himself to be sure to write this experience and his thoughts in his journal. This may be someone from the government that has an interest in his activities.

After they arrived at the section of the city he would note the graphitti on the abandoned train car. He tried to read if it was a gang marking, but couldn't make anything of it out, either it was a new tagger, or just some punk doing 'artwork'. Undoubtably it should have been territory of the Yakuza, but they didn't partake in tagging territory that often. It was well known where they operated most times, and they were a bit more refined than to sink to the level of street gang wars.

He would motion for his teammate to come look at the map that was given to them, and he would open it up and begin to speak about the locations. "With three key locations available, we have three options of where to go to gather information. Here, here, and here." He would point at each location on the map. "The distances will play a key factor in how long it takes to get any information at all, but it's also interesting that a Yakuza bathhouse is on this list as well. If we go to that area, we could probably catch a few while they are unarmed in the bath area." Without waiting for any input yet, he would continue.

"Knowing how the Yakuza operates, the gambling house would be the worst choice unless we are prepared for a huge fight. They tend to leave armed guard at these places to keep anyone from cheating or causing problems." Kitsu seemed to have an intimate knowledge of how the gang operated, almost a bit too much. He would stammer out one last point, realizing that he may have seemed too knowledgeable, "Uhh, I don't know anything about Kamina Liquor though..." he would scratch his head and sigh before waiting for input on his thoughts from Carmine.

"Not incorrect." Carmine would assert as he listened to Kitsu explain their options. "I've no real knowledge of alcohol myself, other than the kind of rice preferred in making Sake. He admitted, having been around when some rice purchases were made.

"The Bath house is probably the 'safest' option, as while they may be unarmed... I doubt they will let us in armed ourselves. Hell, they may very well ask for more than just our weapons to get in." He explained, scratching his chin with a gloved finger.

"That being said, in a Gambling house, the others are more assured to be armed, but at least we might be able to get in as well... Alternatively, they'll still ask for weapons, and only the bouncers will be armed." He purposed. "But, in a Bath house, if we try to get information, we can be kicked out... but if we're gambling, we very well can use Information as currency. Sure, it's still asking for trouble, but, if you're not afraid of a wager, I think that we could probably play it cool, and walk out with some information THAT way." He said, a sly grin on his face as he rest his arms at his hips, right on the hilts of his blades. "Besides, I'd rather not walk all the way out to the bath house, and risk getting thrown out without our clothes. We would be much less intimidating should we walk into a Gambling Den in our smallclothes, no?"

Kitsu listened to his teammate's thoughts about the bathhouse quietly. He would smirk before gesturing to his pistol. "If we go to the bathhouse, they'll have to take my weapons from my cold dead hands. And my pistol says they won't be inclined. From my experience, Yakuza bathhouses aren't heavily guarded simply because they expect that people respect them enough not to attack them." He would fold his arms and think for a moment.

"It'll be up to you then, bathhouse and a long walk, or alcohol shop, and a quick trip. I think the gambling den is a last resort location." Kitsu would point out on the map the two locations as he spoke. He would leave it up to his teammate, however to decide on a location.

Carmine, rubbed at his chin for a moment with a gloved hand, as he just smiled. "Neither of us know anything about alcohol, so we might as well hit up the bath house first." He would say. The gambling den was probably the biggest... well, Gamble. He was sure they could get the best information there, but the risk to themselves and the mission were also the largest. The bath house seemed to be a good middle ground to him, so why not?

Onward the Shiba would march, hands resting casually to his side in the process as his eyes scanned the area. Most of the citizens were at the Concert, so anyone who wasn't there was automatically suspicious... including them. They'd need to be careful for sure, but Carmine had a Can Do attitude with it all. They would definitely kill King.

The two had settled on a destination and headed towards the bath house. Unfortunately for them the bath house was quite the trek. As they moved through Eastern Edo they would see more and more people heading towards the stadium for the event. Fortunately this would mean less people around if anything actually happened. Unfortunately it also meant more time for the Yakuza of Eastern Edo to move around. As the pair arrived the outside of the bath house seemed extremely humid as inside the boys instantly got greeted with faces full of steam. It was a very lively bath house. From the back was plenty of traditional Japanese music, as well as a lot of conversation that while hard to make out was clearly coming from a group of very loud, grown men.

As the boys entered it didn't take long for two large men, shirtless with tattoos all over their bodies, to approach them. One of them looked directly at Kitsu and Carmine.
"Hey, you two should be attending the concert don't you think? This isn't the kind of place for kids ya know?" said a bald yakuza with shades. His partner, having green hair and a few piercings eyed the kids over.
"We also sure as hell can't let you through if you are holding weapons." and with that both men did a single eye-brow raise towards the bugei students, as though to give a demonstration of just how serious they happened to be. The bald man raised his glasses a bit to show two very beady eyes underneath.

"Look kids. Rules are simple. Get out, or hand us your weapon and maybe still get kicked out, or hand us your weapon and politely ask me and Uncle Seto here to let you kids stay. I'm sure we got a kitty pond somewhere in here you can splash in, but right now we the actual baths are all taken." they didn't seem to have a lot of malice in their voices, and didn't seem to be looking for a fight. Both men happened to be bodyguards and did what they got paid to do.

"If you kids are looking for someone we can call them forward if you want. Right now though, this really isn't the place for you. Nowhere here has been harming nobody. We don't need any dealing with ya' prep school." the green haired guard said politely. Generally the Yakuza and Bugei students only interacted when one group of Yakuza got too big or too violent and caused a lot of harm to civilians. These two definitely didn't seem the aggressive type. Just insistent on making sure they did their job, which at the moment was clearly keeping people out of the baths.

Kitsu would nevermind the way they spoke, he knew how it was when armed intruders entered the premises. He would quickly think up a lie as fast as he could. He would simply start dropping some names that he knew were involved in other branches of the Yakuza. "No need for giving us the go around." Kitsu folded his arms and spoke casually as if he was used to talking to talking to gang bouncers all the time. "We are simply envoy from the Yoshitomi group from the next province over. We have a...," Kitsu would look around, Currency delivery, for the one who's called 'King'. I can't say much more, you know how it is with the Shogun's dogs running around."

Kitsu would lock eyes with the one he was talking to as if daring him to question it. It would probably be common for King to receive money from surrounding Yakuza groups in return for guns, men, or other assistance, and Kitsu was relying on that knowledge to help. Most of the time, a low-level grunt wouldn't question something like this either. King probably had some bodyguards with him, so it wouldn't be unheard of to simply meet with him.

With Kitsu's appearance, being his normal colorful kimono, and his already thugish looking facial features, he should fit right in, though he was worried they would question why the other of the two was in a school uniform. Kitsu was thinking a mile a minute for an answer, but hoped his teammate would think on his feet.

Kitsu was much more levelheaded than he was expecting, after the speech of 'they'd have to take his weapons from his cold dead hands' or whatever, but, this approach was something that Carmine could deal with. He couldn't help but smile as his wrists rested upon the hilts of his weapons.

Getting into a fight would probably draw the wrong kind of attention to them, so avoiding one would be best, but, he knew his own skill, and he could guess at Kitsu's, given that they were on the same mission, so odds are they could handle some thugs. But King was their target, and they needed to make sure that they drew him out, not scared him away. Granted, after taking a few assassinations and walking it off, he probably didn't scare easily.

Carmine remained silent, though. Kitsu said what needed to be said, and if the young shiba said anything else, it might very well look a bit odd or suspicious. No no, he'd keep quiet for now. If combat started, then he'd act, but for now, he could stand there and, hopefully, look intimidating.

Kitsu
Kajowwojak

As the guards demanded the students leave Kitsu spoke up.
"We are simply envoy from the Yoshitomi group from the next province over. We have a...," and both guards turned and looked directly at him as he finished his statement.
"Currency delivery, for the one who's called 'King'. I can't say much more, you know how it is with the Shogun's dogs running around." both Yakuza instantly looked at Kitsu, then over at Carmine, then each other with extremely seriously expressions. The two casual looking guards suddenly had looks on their faces like they would kill both boys on the spot. The guard with green hair and piercings looked directly at Kitsu.

"We told ya to leave. KID. We weren't kiddin'. Don't pretend like you are one of us when you are wearing a da' school uniform!" he said angrily. The Yakuza with shades put his arm in front of his comrade and looked at at the kids.
"I don't know why you two are playing Yakuza, or why you are looking for King, but you need to stop. That psychotic jackal aint here, and we don't wan' 'em to be. Understand?" with that a man came out of the backroom and eyed the guards, then the bugei students. Instantly both guards stepped to the side and bowed, looking at Kitsu and Carmine to do the same.

"Toshi-aniki!" said the green haired Yakuza guard, shaking a bit. Stumbling over his word he quickly started to explain the situation.
"T-these kids showed up. It ain't a big deal. We just told them to leave an-" but was cut off when the new arrival raised his hand. The man was around 35 and missing his pinky and lacking a shirt. On his hip was a very visible pistol, almost surely loaded.

"I heard someone say King." his face looked visibly enraged. The Yakuza with the sunglasses just pointed at Kitsu and Carmine as the man named Toshi walked up to the two of them.
"That psychotic rat dog doesn't have shit to do with us. He isn't one of us, and he know damn well if he came around I'd plug him up. I don't know what the hell you kids want with him but he isn't here and you need to get the hell out of our bathhouse. We are having a meeting." it was then that he spotted Carmine's school uniform and scoffed.

"So the shogunate sends kids to deal with King's bullshit. Good god damn luck." he then turned around and shot a hard glare at the two bath house guards.
"Make sure they leave or I will punish you both myself. Once these brats are gone you standing outside the bathhouse all day if you have to. Not a damn thing is going to interrupt this meeting you understand?" and both guards, shaking, quickly nodded to show they understood the man's words as he walked into the back of the bathhouse. When he turned to walk away everyone would be able to see a full back tatoo of a very angry looking wolf ripping out a man's throat with it's teeth and what appeared to be drawn blood everywhere.

"Shit, I thought we where dead..." the green haired guard said, his teeth chattering a bit. The man with the sunglasses pointed to the door.
"You, both, need, to, go, NOW!"

Kitsu would not leave. He would think for a brief second and took in Toshi's body language and manner of speaking. Kitsu would whisper, almost audibly, to Carmine, "Follow my lead, and don't speak unless you want the whole Yakuza to attack us." He sank to his knees and bowed to the floor. "Toshi-dono, please speak with me for a brief moment." This was an extremely respectful display for a 'punk shogunate kid', and would hopefully show that he did, in fact, have a deep respect for the Yakuza. He knew when there was a powerful person in front of him, and this one was probably the head of the territory.

This wasn't their target, so Kitsu had an almost immediate deep respect for the gang Lord. He also knew that the resources that this person had could be used to hunt the two of them down literally until the end of their days if he had a slip of the tongue, or showed an ounce of disrespect. It was a dangerous move, but Kitsu was going to ask for this person's help in finding King.

Carmine opened his mouth as though to respond, but decided against it. Instead, he folded his arms and would let Kitsu do the talking. Gang stuff really wasn't much of his Forte. Politics and back-alley deals were just complicated. What he did was fight, and fight well. If they were going to fight, so be it, but, he understood the importance of getting their target, so he would remain quiet for a moment, but his hands weren't too far away from his weapons... just in case.

Both Yakuza guards instantly went wide eyed as Kitsu dropped to the ground, asking Toshi to speak with them for a moment.
"Toshi-dono, please speak with me for a brief moment."
Toshi just stopped mid stride. His back, showing his tattoos clearly visible. Then with a shrug he kept walking off into the back of the sauna as the green haired Yakuza shrugged a bit.

"Look, you two really need to go or it's our asses. Toshi-aniki doesn't exactly like people." he explained before looking back to make sure his boss had indeed left. It wasn't as though Toshi was the head of any particular Yakuza group, but he was certainly a high ranking member of a group and definitely above the two guards dealing with the students. It was then that the bald Yakuza just rolled his eyes. He had gotten sick of his partner trying to baby the students.

"Aye, you know WHO. He is a nasty guy but he has a'it of habbit." and with that the bald Yakuza tugged his arm as though pulling on a pachinko machine. Then raised his eye brows a bit. The green haired Yakuza shot him a nasty look.
"Aye, Aye!" then he turned to the Bugei students.
