Sengoku Horizon

Look towards the Horizon

The Warring States Period: Fierce warlords fought for control of Japan, and many would perish. When a warrior falls, where does the passion they once held go? Possibly into something dear such as a favorite weapon or heirloom. These heirlooms have been labeled as “relics”, and those that carry them are labeled as “Scions." Recently more and more of these special relics have been activating, signaling the start of a great change as ancient power meets the modern world!

Now For The Local News, 11/01/2017 The dust has cleared after a fierce clash against the rebel Ikko Ikki monks. Now, as a tense period of calm spread over the island nation of Japan the students of Edo Bugei must figure out how to proceed in life after experience such intense conflicts and such deep loss.

A Vicious Thud Rang out as Eiji Headbutted his opponent. The Student tumbling down holding his head. He was down for the count. Eiji Looked up to the sky this Morning. There was nothing like the feeling of shaking off Drowsiness with a good fight. He looked back down as two more first years stepped up to spar with him as the other student picked himself up and exited arena. The students preceded to get to opposite sides of Eiji as he just waited with his Swords in hand. One armed with a Wooden katana. The other with a Spear.
The student with the sword approached Eiji in sync with one one with the spear. Eiji then broke into a sprint as he rushed the swordsman as he lifted his sword upward. Eiji then lifted his sword up to catch the wooden blade between his sword's hand guard and blade. As Wood collided with wood Eiji lifed up his wooden wakizashi striking him in the neck hard, Following it up with a shoulder charge sending him down he turned around to challenge the Spearman. He swatted at the spear that was being thrust at him with his bokken sending the spear reeling to the left. Eiji closed the distance Taking a stab at his chest with his wooden wakizashi. Putting all of his strength into the stab he hit the student in the abdomen, causing said student to double over. He looked Back at the other student still down holding his neck. He looked over at a row of near by benches where other students he had sparred with where sitting. Resting and shooting him dirty looks.
You gotta be in it to win it Boys, Anything less and you'll end up dead. Eiji said to the downed students. He walk over away from the ring where his stuff was laying. He then took out a bottle of water and began to drink from it.

Ash arrived in the room. He was always looking to expand his skill set. He heard rumors of a strong opponent within the bugei club. He would arrive just after the final blows of the fight, and caught a tail end of the words 'you have to be in it to win it' and got slightly irked. "What if being in to win, as you say, is restrict by school?" It was known to a few people that Ash was restricted to minimum contact combat due to the danger of his style, but Eiji may not know about it.

The tribal looking student would stretch his limbs before removing the top half of his outfit, exposing his slightly muscled torso. His appearance showed that he didn't have a lot of power, and looked almost like he wasn't a fighter at all, more lean than muscled, but a wise person would say that looks can be extremely deceiving.

Eiji stopped as he heard someone speak up. Well that just wouldn't be fair i suppose Eiji Answered as he turned around to see another student standing behind him. Lean with a scar on his face the guy looked Confused.
Eiji started to elaborate. This sparring is good but nothing beats practical experience, and you get that by not pulling any punches. The guy charging you with a blade on your next mission sure as hell aint gonna pull his shit so neither should you. Eiji slowly strolled up to the student, his Sunflower tinted Sunglasses glinting as the sun reflected off of them.
People never strode up to Eiji and just talked to him out of the blue unless they wanted to fight him or bitch at him. Eiji was sizing the student up as he walked up to him. The part where the guy said the school restricted him was interesting enough. What did you mean by that restricted talk anyway

A simple way of demonstrating, Ash would say nothing but hold out his hand for a handshake. If Eiji accepted, Ash would lightly press into a nerve on his soon to be opponent's hand, causing an odd tingle to shoot up Eiji's arm. Ash's handshake would demonstrate his fighting style of precise nerve attacks, even if Eiji didn't quite get it. A few seconds after the tingle, and Eiji's arm would have pain shoot up his arm.

"I have specialty that school wants to be careful. They worry I may hurt people." Ash's fighting style was a combination of akido and the mysterious style of Dim Mak. When he was brought to the academy, he was found playing vigilante on the streets of Edo by one of the most respected people at the school due to his fighting ability. "I will fight with you, but I am not supposed to use full ability."

Eiji Glanced at the outreached hand that was being projected at him before him. He looked back at the guy with a look of confusion. So lemme get this straight, You wanna tangle but you wont even give me your all?Eiji then waved his hand holding his wakizashi dismissively Fuck that. If you aint here to win then i aint here to fight. He then took four big steps back before Getting into his fighting stance. Katana in his left hand behind him and wakizashi in his left in front both above his head. Besides. He said as he pivoted his head around. Dont see no instructor, no class rep, no teacher, No one around to enforce that rule of yours. Eiji was getting fired up, a shit eating grin was now plastered upon his face. Watta say?
Gotta be frustrating not being able to fight all out, now is your chance. Cmon Tarzan Show me what you are made of!
He bellowed as he dashed up to Ash bringing down his Bokken katana as soon as he was in range keeping the bokken wakizashi held up behind him.

Ash would look slightly confused about the declined handshake. He was certain that this was one of the customary greeting exchanges used. He shrugged it off as soon as he realized an attack was headed his way, and reflexes kicked in. He raised a hand up, catching Eiji's sword hand. The hand that was waiting for a handshake instead ended up as a palm strike aimed at Eiji's lower jaw with enough force to possibly dislocate it.

His quick reflexes from years of practicing the little known fighting style gave him an edge when fighting pretty much anything. Akido for everything defensive from movement recognition to movement redirection. Dim Mak for dangerous nerve and vital point strikes, a dangerous combination.

Eiji's Shit eating grin got wider as Ash caught his arm and brought the other to strike him. A Thud and a audible crack rang out as Ash Struck Eiji's Jaw. Knocking his sunglasses ajar from his eyes. As Pain rang out he brought his wakizashi down with all the force he could muster out of his dominate hand. Aimed at Ash's neck. Still no one ever tried to fight Eiji with just their hands. It was always with a weapon he could parry or catch. Eiji knew then this would be a hard fought match.

Ash wasn't stupid, he knew to have a backup if your strike doesn't incapacitate. Though there was a small look of surprise on Ash's face that he was still standing. His backup plan was to quickly get away. Rule number one of fighting against a blade, always anticipate a second blade. The tribal looking fighter quickly jumped backwards, as a second blade flashed through the air.

Putting distance between him and his attacker would allow him to ready a counter attack. He was still determined to end this issue without having to permanently damage the opposing student. He would ready himself in a defensive stance, but wouldn't say a word.

Eiji let out a chuckle as Ash dodged. He fixed his glasses with his wakizashi hand. when he was done with that his hand fell to his jaw, feeling it up as Ash got into his stance. Eiji's grin fell off of his face as he spoke. Restricted by the school? Gimme a fucking break. That was just a Palm strike. His face started to form a Scowl. You think im a Goddamn joke. Is that it? Eiji said with venom in his voice. Before relaxing and getting into his stance again. He switched Hands now his Bokken Wakazashi in his left hand now in his left hand and bokken katana in his right. Though i cant blame you for doing so. His voice much more calm and collected than earlier. He kept his Wakazashi outstretched and pointed to Ash's face and his Katana parallel with his side burn. He then took a step forward. Waiting for his opponent to strike.

Ash stayed quiet. If his opponent thought a simple palm strike was a big deal, then he had surprise on his side. He watched the weapon handedness switch with interest, and then simply observed as Eiji raised his katana to point at him, and then nothing. Just waiting. Ash stepped backward when Eiji stepped forward, and would continue to do so without attacking.

Ash's style was almost purely defensive, attacking was done only when there was a guarantee of success or advantage. When someone is wielding weapons against hand to hand combat, one must be very careful. Ash kept his distance, and in doing so was attempting to frustrate his opponent with his inaction.

Closer.
and Closer.
And closer.
Eiji was ever so slightly edging his way closer to ash. He knew his katana like a third limb. This time he was going to move Just within striking distance with the tip of his katana. If ash moved on him again he already has his Wakazashi out. Relax Eiji. He thought to himself. He lost his cool way to easily especially when fighting.

Ash wouldn't just stand there as Eiji crept closer. He backed up at the same rate as his opponent moved forward. He wasn't going to be suckered into starting the attack when he knew all too well that his own fighting style was purely defensive 99% of the time. He would keep his distance and wait for his opponent to become frustrated at the idea of nothing happening.

"Why are you boring?" His best attempt at trash talk. "You have biiig sword, but you just stand there!" More goading and attempts at irritating his opponent. "Do not tell that you afraid of unarmed man!"

A long frustrated exhale came from Eiji's nose as he heard Ash talk. You are gonna get it now you fucking monk reject! He then started running towards his opponent. Eiji brought his Wakazashi closer to him but kept his katana where it was at. Still running Eiji Brought down his katana when he would get in range.

Ash acted quickly as Eiji ran forward. Just before his opponent got in range to swing his Katana, he moved forward to get within his own striking range. He would catch his opponent's arm with one hand, and with his other hand would use his index and middle finger to strike Eiji's Axillary nerve. This would render the striking arm numb and weak, to the point of possibly Eiji dropping his weapon. If this happened, Ash would kick the sword as far away as he could and then disengage by moving backwards as quickly as he could. This was a spar, not an actual fight, so following up with more strikes seemed unnecessary and dangerous.

This type of fighting would probably seem foreign to his opponent, but if had taken the handshake earlier, he would have at least had a hint about why his close combat style was watched closely by the academy. Even at this low level, he was still able to possibly disable entire limbs for a short time.

Eiji Grimaced as Ash struck him. He had braced for the impact but he didn't feel anything? He felt himself let go of his sword. As Ash moved onto his sword Eiji advanced with his own attack. Letting go of his Wakazashi he Moved to grab a handful of Ash's hair, using all of the force he could muster yanked on it to throw ash to the ground. Letting go of his sword was foolish, but Eiji was mad. He still couldn't feel his arm but that was no concern of his, if he had to he would headbutt or boot this guy as hard as he could. He aimed a kick at the Downed monk's gut forgetting he was a hand to hand fighter.
