Recently more and more of these special relics have been activating, signaling the start of a great change as ancient power meets the modern world!

Now For The Local News, 11/01/2017 The dust has cleared after a fierce clash against the rebel Ikko Ikki monks. [5AM, overcast cloudy]

It was amazing what the right motivation could do. Bright and early in the dorms, Suishoku couldn't find the will to keep sleeping anymore. She rose out of bed and quickly washed her face and changed out of some plain pjs before heading out to the main dorm lobby. Maybe it was a little too early though as over from the student kitchens would keen ears pick up the gentle sizzles and chopping on the cutting boards and the scent of baked goods cooking somewhere behind kitchen doors. The morning Ala Cart students and supervising staff would carry that out. Meanwhile, the student run cafe on the other end ran a more mellowed out business.

Since the breakfast tables weren't ready yet, Suishoku headed over the student cafe to browse the small window of left over scones and doughnuts that happened to survive the previous night. "One mocha and that blueberry," Suishoku readily claimed the large style scone to a student behind the counter.

The third year had relatively short black hair but still tied back some longer strands into a thin wispy rat tail with some worn lines around their black eyes thanks to late night shifts and the labor done during the summer. They greeted Suishoku with a causal wave and got to work on her coffee.

"You're up early, Yuubae. Or, it is Yuubae-senpai?"
"That's too weird. We're the same age, Masaki."
"'Suppose so. But that Elite promotion?"
"N-None of that please."
"You," a sigh followed. "really need to get over that. That and being unable to apply for the cafe part-time anymore."

"Yeah yeah," Suishoku lightly pouted and took to a small table for two than the cafe bar set up and waited there for her scone and coffee to be delivered. Thinking about how her thoughts of scoring a cafe part time job going up in smoke thanks to the Elite promotion made her slump over on the table while stretching her arms out. "Have another warmed mug ready though. Another girl should be coming over soon."

Yumiko was dreaming. In her dream she had met a circle of famous Chinese poets explaining the secrets to their writings and showing her around the great capitals of the mainland. Explaining how each poem was based on a place near the capital and then showing her that place. It was a magical journey with a circle of men that had been dead for centuries. As she bowed to the men and shared some tea the Yumiko in the real world started to twitch and move under a cute blanket with reeds and frogs on it.

Slowly she opened her eyes. She then quickly closed them again, rolling around a bit in her bed before opening her eyes and looking at the familiar scene before her. Her dorm room with it's nice desk in front of the window, a separate desk with a computer, her poetry and school books, and a cute wooden bird that reminded her of Masumi. Giving a cute yawn the poet girl woke up and carried out her morning rituals before combing her hair a bit and putting on a cute frog t-shirt, fluffy white cape with two black pom poms, and a cute skirt. She looked in a way like a white and black christmas tree as she slipped on a pair of sandals. She was a bit late to meet Suishoku but was sure her senpai would understand. To Yumiko such a dream was like a gift from the gods of poetry themselves.

Smiling at the picture of her with her parents, and the picture next to it of her with Masumi, she prayed to the two pictures and left to meet Suishoku downstairs. As she left her dorm room she saw two of her classmates getting up in the morning as well and waved to them a bit. They had been kind to her during her depression last year, a lot of people had. As she hurried down the multiple staircases to meet Suishoku she found her senpai getting breakfast.

As Yumiko saw Suishoku at the cafe she walked over and gave a small bow, with a smile to follow.
a new morning comes
the bright sun wishes us well
a scent, of coffee?

Yumiko was a bit surprised Suishoku hadn't gotten tea, however it was still fairly early in the morning and coffee did sound nice. The small girl's stomach rumbled a bit as she blushed slightly. Alright, maybe some eggs sounded good too.
"Good morning senpai." she said sheepishly.

Her rested head and folded her arms on the table lazily as her coffee brewed. Outside and anything that could be seen past the partly fogged up windows were browns and reds with the fall weather in full effect. Kaga would be similar to this or so and will run its course till the chill of winter runs down the country. All that remains now is getting the final details in place now that they have waited this long of summer ending. They could all thank Edo reconstruction for that one.

Her macho and large blueberry scone was plated before her when a voice had her head raise to greet them. She smiled some and sat up more in her chair with a hand motioning the seat across from her. By now the a la cart lounge set up getting wheeled out with the heated lamp extension cords laid out. The haiku ended question had Suishoku shrug at the girl. "Mornings do get cold," she said in defense but it was unusual to not have a coffee milk from the vending machine. Mochas were a close enough in being coffee and chocolaty.

She took the napkin corner and broke off a piece of her scone to nibble on while offering it to Yumiko if she wanted to snack on something till the breakfast cart is ready. "Go ahead and order something too," she motioned to Masaki behind the counter. Once Yumiko get her fix for the morning, Suishoku took a slow drink of her macho and got right to the point. "But, really, I wanna hear your thoughts on Kaga. I kinda want to show off a few places but at the same time, we only get so much leave time at all so I'd like some help on how to boil it down to a day and night."

"Go ahead and order something." Suishoku said of Yumiko.
"But, really, I wanna hear your thoughts on Kaga. I kinda want to show off a few places but at the same time, we only get so much leave time at all so I'd like some help on how to boil it down to a day and night." with a nod Yumiko went off to order her coffee, Suishoku's words hanging in her mind. It was true that they needed places to show everyone if a large trip to Kaga was going to happen.

Going up to the counter Yumiko looked at the worker.
"I would like a medium green tea, children's temp please." she said quietly. She wanted to drink it right away, instead of waiting for it to properly brew. Right now she really needed to warm herself up. As her order was taken she thought more on Suishoku's words as she waited for her tea to finish steeping. Right away one idea came to her mind as she finished paying for her tea. Getting the tea and going back to Suishoku, Yumiko smiled.

"Ayatorihashi." she said cheerfully. It was a single word, but she knew Suishoku would understand. IN Kaga was a large bridge that had been painted a pinkish purple color. It was beautiful and spanned a massive crevice known as Kakusenkei Gorge. The bridge itself had a beautiful walkway and park below it. In Yumiko's mind it was an amazing place to fully understand the poetic beauty inside of the province.
"It is the most beautiful place in Kaga." she said with a smile as she pulled up pictures on her phone in case Suishoku had never been.

"The Meada clan castle, and all of the cherry blossoms around it look beautiful, though not as much in winter. Also, I dont think they will care about the Noh Museum." both places had been places Yumiko visited often when she lived back home. She wasn't sure how much the others would care though.
"Kaga has many onsen. We should stay at one while visiting!" she said a bit more cheerfully as though to forgive her previous idea. One thing the cold north was famous for, especially Kaga, was it's beautiful onsen after all. In the end though, coming up with ideas was a bit harder than she had expected.

She took another drink of her mocha and swirled down the chocolate sunken in the bottom of her cup while waiting. The girl's posture slouching back in her chair to mull over what were places to go in Kaga. There was an activity she had in mind but easily feared that a day tip of just sitting around on a boat ride would be a bit boring for some person's tastes. "Hmmm," an echoed sigh in her cardboard cup hummed as she thought about her guests.

It's a good thing to be fairly familiar with guests. The mental picture of them all were very active people as well as looking forward for some peace and relaxation. R&R, in that case, would be the theme. Once Yumiko returned with what smelt like green tea, Suishoku sat more properly this time once her friend was all set. Right away she had a thought of where to go.

"Ooh, that place," she smiled once thinking of that bridge. Personally she thought the color choice for this bridge was a bit odd but it is a relaxing walk to take in the scenic nature. "It would be a good start. This would get their minds at ease." Nodding about this, she got out her phone and started to text in a mental note that this would be the first stop from the train ride.

"True, we missed that season ages ago now but seeing the castle might give insight? We could do that during the main area of Kanazewa. It should be cleared up by now," was what she hoped, "but I'm kinda hoping we don't stick around the castle too long unofficially." Unless Yumiko was all for it, the last thing she wanted to get their group roped into in a ceremony their lord would attempt to do. As hard as that would be once they enter the boarder and pass the city official staff at the main station.

"Would the Noh museum be cheaper...?" This was a stray thought as she took a long drink. Yumiko sounded like a better guide for knowing those parts of Kaga. "We can ask if the group would like to visit some local areas." This as a suggested like to being a more hopefully another time. It was only when Yumiko mentioned about the outstanding number of hot spring resorts in the area did Suihoku placed her hand on the table in full agreement. "Yes! We'll have to do that!" Immediately after agreeing to this did she back tracked a little. "Ah wait, so a ryoukan stay or one of those resorts?"

After asking this, she set her phone down on the table of a general timeline guide on a day calendar. "Hmm, so far we visit Ayatorihashi...make our way into Kaga proper, a boat tour...visit the Maeda castle, then we got the afternoon and evening to sort out dinner and the hot spring."

"Ah wait, so a ryoukan stay or one of those resorts?" After asking this, Suishoku set her phone down on the table of a general timeline guide on a day calendar. "Hmm, so far we visit Ayatorihashi...make our way into Kaga proper, a boat tour...visit the Maeda castle, then we got the afternoon and evening to sort out dinner and the hot spring."

Yumiko thought carefully about this. A resort was nice, however since Suishou had talked about not wanting to spend a lot of time at the Maeda clan's castle, and possibly keeping the Noh Theater museum idea alive, it was clear in Yumiko's mind that Suishoku was more interested in keeping a low profile than anything else. Which in and of itself would be difficult considering everyone who was planning to attend the trip.
"I think we should stay at the ryoukan. It feels more like the true Kaga. Also, I think the owners would be more humble, and polite. Nobuyori-san....seems to enjoy flashing his status and wealth, but I don't think he is use to Kaga merchants....." she tried to phrase it as politely as she could, however the look of concern on her face was clear. It was no secret to anyone at the school that Nobuyrori made a point of his family's wealth and power in order to try and "keep up" with clans like Todo and Honda. However he wasn't the most worldly of people, and Kaga merchants knew tourists very well. What Yumiko wouldn't say, however, is that she also preferred the more quiet nature of the ryoukan compared to how pushy tourist traps tended to be.

"Also, the schedule is nice." she said with a large smile.
"The noh museum is fairly cheap. Mom, Dad, and I use to visit often. The boat ride shouldn't be expensive either." she said with a large grin. Overall the more she thought about the idea the more excited she was starting to become. It would be great to take a group of friends and visit her and Suishoku's home. What would they think? Would they be excited? Would they be bored? Would they be able to understand the natural beauty of Kaga the way it's residents did? Would they understand how much inspiration Yumiko and her family got for their poetry just by living in the area? All of these thoughts began to race, causing her to smile more than they caused any type of worry or concern.

Realizing that his behavior would undermine that and with his sister coming in tow, Suishoku sighed heavily and held her head in her hands upon this revelation. "By kami they would," she heaved another deep sigh as though in sudden despair. It seemed like a humored idea at the time when texting how it was welcomed for Kaori to come along. For how their wealth and spending tendencies did she start to worry a bit for the two of them. "Maybe..." her hands lowered for her fingers to be laced before her mouth, obscuring it from view as she uttered in a most grave tone. "maybe if I can steal their wallets before then..."

The tone and atmosphere looked grim around Suishoku. She hoped Nobu would be on his best behavior along with Kaori but there's no telling for sure. For now, the planning will continue to try making sure that the only things people would have to spend their money on would be extra things outside of this tour. With that in mind, she also considered her family store to be brief, if they got around to it. No one in their party would be of drinking age without an adult in company so that's a thankful skip over.

"Thanks for confirming that Noh museums are so much cheaper than their actual shows. That'd be a hard bill to pay for nearly 10 Noh tickets." Consider her money purse ritually sacrificed when it comes to that. "Hmm, should we, um, show where we live?" That question might get brought up so she wanted to check with Yumiko if that is something not at all troubling. Given how her parents apparently come from a higher standing for being part of a court, she assumed that maybe they live in closer proximity to the castle.

After asking this to confirm if that invasion of privacy was okay, she took a longer drink and started pulling up some trip tours. "Since our party is pretty large, we should be able to be allowed booking in some of the larger ryokan. Do you have any in mind? There's just sooo many."

Yumiko grimaced a bit as Suishoku looked tense. It was no secret that Nobuyori liked to spend the money he had. Though he had never been to Kaga, and Yumiko was sure the nice but quick talking merchants of Kaga would easily get the Azai heir to spend far more money then he would realize.
"I think Nobuyori-san will be alright. We....should warn him that Kaga merchants are good at bartering." after all she doubted he ever bartered. From what she had seen of Nobuyori whenever she saw him around town he just paid for the cost of things up front. Most lords did. It would thus be easy for a Kaga merchant to charge him far more than an item was actually worth without the young heir even lifting a complaint.

As they moved on Suishoku asked a question that caught Yumiko off guard.
"Hmm, should we, um, show where we live?" it was an important question but one that made Yumiko shake her head a bit. She came from a quiet, small family after all.
"I think we should show them the various sectors of the city. The living areas, but I don't think my parents would like to have our house exposed in such a manor." his parents tended to be very quiet people. Even when the city was under attack her parents had been extremely quiet at the Maeda clan's castle. It wasn't out of fear, but simply because that is the type of parents Yumiko had.
"I can show them the part of town we live in though!" she said, as though to try and save face.

"Since our party is pretty large, we should be able to be allowed booking in some of the larger ryokan. Do you have any in mind? There's just sooo many." the girl made a good point. Unfortunately Yumiko didn't know any particular Ryokan. This meant that the two would likely have to do a bit of hotel searching to find one right for their group.
"I'm afraid I don't know, but I'm sure we can search for one!" she said with enthusiasm. In Yumiko's mind they had the plan mostly figured out, which helped quite a bit.
"I think we have a good plan though!" she added.

"Or confiscate their wallets for a bit," she added in jokingly but still remained deadly serious about that problem. Both Nobu and Kaori can be pretty generous when it comes to shopping around. Suishoku hung her head and reconsidered to just asking her friends to be light on their money and just attempt to not cause a huge uproar. If the merchants knew a high customer would be walking through the markets then they'll be all over them to get their purses to open.

She hugged her drink and tried to calm down over this issue as Yumiko provided insight on another issue. It would be a problem to have ten people come over. She assumed Yumiko would have a larger but modest home since her family had a higher standing. Ten people would over crowd her home gift shop so it'd be a real hat trick to get them all inside her living room to entertain. A general direction would work out just fine as Suishoku nodded to the girl's more sage advice on that. "True, showing them around would be enough. Our home store is really just another sake outlet with a few other sundries so it'd be a bit bad to swing by my place anyway."

Having said this did they both nod at the same time. Some ryoukan research was going to be needed and that's where their real weakness was. "Right. I'll call my dad and ask for some input. He's been to a few on business trips so something big but with great scenery would do the trick." On that note did Suishoku down the last of her drink and started into the nearly forgotten scone of hers.

"Right, we should have this all in the bag." She agreed and turned her head to check the breakfast ala cart area. "Looks like breakfast is finally ready. Let's get the fresh portions before everyone else comes down."

"Looks like breakfast is finally ready. Let's get the fresh portions before everyone else comes down." Suishoku decreed. The two girls had made a plan, and so far it seemed like it would go well. The only thing left now was to contact everyone. Though using the school's message boards and text messages it wouldn't seem like it would be much of a problem. As the two went over to grab breakfast Yumiko picked up a small bowl of cereal and some milk. It was a fairly western style breakfast but she wanted something a bit more light than what she usually ate. A simple rice flake cereal was nice sometimes.

"I think it will go really well." the poet girl declared as she paid for her small cereal and milk and looked at her senpai. With a giggle she imagined Lord Maeda throwing his arms wide and shouting that everyone was welcome to his city. Though, they definitely wouldn't be able to avoid him. After all, it was his city and they would be a group of scions and traditional students visiting a major town.

"I just hope everyone will be happy."

"I hope they'll be happy with it too."

Her chair pushed back and the senior student made her way to the open cart and heated trays. Rolls of crepes, french toast, some rice, eggs, miso soup; a small flair of mixed east and west but mostly a westerner styled breakfast when matched with a bread basket nested by assorted preservatives. She took a small bowl of miso and apple slices to her food tray and took them back to coffee cafe. The large nibbled on scone sat there lonely till the rest of breakfast arrived. Even the cafe staff, given how slow it was, left the counter to grab some items.

Once finding a more full, and cheaper meal, Suishoku took a warming drink of her soup and exhaled at peace with the broth. A nice breakfast with Yumiko and their plans nearly wrapped up and completed. Morning's usually didn't start like this for her and most likely the same for Yumiko. "It's kinda nice to have breakfast with someone but, do you usually eat by yourself?" She asked, drifting a bit away from their planning to inquire about what was Yumiko's day life now that winter is so far behind them.

"It's kinda nice to have breakfast with someone but, do you usually eat by yourself?" Suishoku asked as the two got food. Yumiko kind of paused for a moment. She knew her senpai cared for her well being and the poet girl didn't want to worry her. after all Suishoku had been present when Yumiko was at the lowest point in her life due to Masumi's death. As Yumiko got some fruit she looked at Suishoku and smiled a bit.
"I do." she said as she made sure she had the money for the fruit.

"Don't worry though, It is just how I like my morning. I think starting off the morning with a book, and collecting my thoughts, is a nice way to do it. Occasionally though I see other students. Bento-san, Honda-san, you, Azai-Kun, and others." it was true that the commons where used by pretty much every student attending the Bugei. In the morning Yumiko usually got food and went to her room to open the windows, but some morning she stayed down in the commons with some warm green tea and a light breakfast, listening to recordings of people reading poetry or writing her own based on what was around her.

During her quiet time in the morning it was common for others to come by once in a while, when she didn't look too wrapped up within her own writing, to say hello or share breakfast. A lot of the Bugei students, especially those that had been forced to fight against the Ikko Ikki together, had become very close after the event. After all they had literally counted on one another to escape certain death.
"How do you like to spend your mornings usually?" she asked politely.

Her head nodded as though both understandingly and a 'yeah, I kinda guessed' sort of manner. Yumiko usually hovered around Masumi-senpai a lot and tends to be by herself otherwise. If not doing either of those then it was quietly accepted that Yumiko acted as a sort of nurse for Masumi when the older student ended up being bed ridden on some days. This too was mostly an assumption when the girl could be spotted running errands unofficially. Did this mean she's been observing Yumiko this whole time before taking on a form of guardianship over Yumiko and Masumi's relic? Nah, this was all based on how Suishoku noticed Yumiko carrying herself. A quiet girl like her gravitated to calming, soft things.

"Nah, it wasn't a worry. Just off the cuff since most students around here would eat by themselves or in unofficial company due to hose the lunch tables are set up in the cafeteria."
Suishoku admitted before drinking a bit of soup to balance out that sugar sweet coffee with salt and tofu. Ideally it was popular to both eat alone or eat with friends but the campus itself wasn't as large as a grand palace garden and its grounds. "Just wanted to know if that was a preference of yours."

She then took an apple slice and nibbled away at the freshly cut bits and crisp texture. It wasn't a large breakfast for her usual diet but with Yumiko and sharing a table, Suishoku was fine with just this to hold her over till lunch. I'll have to review over that my tasks would be today. It's so non-standard like it was before taking classes. The girl mentally complained about the uneven steps of figuring out what is the day to day life of an Elite student as Yumiko explained her usual mornings being very calm along with the occasional student showing up.

"Hmm," she contemplated a little on what her mornings are usually like as the apple slice was nibbled away to nothing. "Before this whole Elite stuff? Normally my mornings used to be waking up for early kyudou and studying till breakfast, maybe meet up with Nobu over coffee milk before homeroom classes and just do my whatever classes and training for the day. Usually I have breakfast by myself since he wakes up so late." Suishoku explained with smirk of his blonde messy bed head but it didn't exactly answer Yumiko's question. These were mornings of how they have been and not what she personally liked them to be due to lack of affectionate words thrown in if not counting the mindset of continuing to call the Azai prince with a shortened first name as either preference or affection than referring to him as 'Azai-san' or 'Nobu-kun' variants. This was the thought process of a self made routine accepted to being liked for what it had become, a safe sanity maintaining routine. "Now and days, I try to get what I can done before school begins. Can't slack off too much before evening."

Yumiko smiled as she listened to Suishoku explain her mornings before being an elite student.
"They sound nice actually." she said with a small grin. Though in truth Yumiko was along the same lines as some of the other students. Suishoku and Nobuyori always seemed to be together, so seeing the two of them as a couple wasn't uncommon. In her mind it was cute to think of the two doing couples things like having breakfast together. Though she wouldn't outright say it. Instead her words could simply have meant that it was nice that Suishoku was able to have such relaxing mornings.

"I'm sorry being an elite students keeps your mornings so busy." she said. She couldn't being to imagine what kinds of things the elite students must have to do day in and day out. More than likely it was a lot of work that the non-elite students of the Bugei would be glad to never have to do. Masumi had talked about Yumiko being an elite someday but she didn't see much point. An elite poet likely wouldn't help much, and Yumiko had no intention of ever being a spy of information gathering kind of person.

"Um, Senpai. I wanted to tell you something since you are here. Lately, I've thought of going into medicine. Sort of like you." she declared. It was something she had been thinking about lately and had finally decided to tell Suishoku about it.

"I guess they kinda were," Suishoku chuckled a bit, not really thinking that the mornings like that were nice. Peaceful would have been a good word and therapeutic being the accurate versions but nice had a good tone to it over all. She broke a corner of her scope and popped it away in her mouth like tossing pop corn. Speaking of that certain sleepy head, her eyes looked to the nearest clock. It read right around 6 in the morning. A sighting of Nobu at this house was like catching a ninja at a convenient store in full gear; i.e. not going to happen.

"I'm sorry being an elite students keeps your mornings so busy."
"They were kinda busy before in a way. I'm not fully certified yet to do classes yet so it's mostly akin to...a student aid but for teachers than someone assigned to the job in each homeroom."

Describing it like that was about the gist of it. Unless someone really excelled into direct fields of combat and such for missions, it was working as a teacher's aid in the school. The whole concept was still odd granted the abnormal events these past months so sharing Yumiko this was more of a hazard guess after being Izuki-senpai's office aid during that time in detention.

"Um, Senpai. I wanted to tell you something since you are here. Lately, I've thought of going into medicine. Sort of like you."

She was working on getting a spoonful of soup when Yumiko suddenly blurted that out. It took her back in both the course selection and this being a bit similar to a different outing with another student. "You mean...like being a first response? Apothecary?" Yumiko didn't have a relic of her own to meet half way in this but it made her more concerned than celebrated to find that Yumiko wanted to do what she did. Even more worrying was that Yumiko wanted to be something like her.

"Hmm," she took the spoonful of miso soup and set the spoon down after the mildly salted taste calmed her. If the topic was going to be this then Suishoku felt to be less casual about the topic, hoping that Yumiko wouldn't try to be a field medic. The expressions of the bodies she passed by in the southern district of civilians were slain by traitorous sleeper agents and sympathizers still troubled her. Exposing Yumiko to that would be unavoidable but she didn't want the girl to be out among those bodies in a profession that could trigger the foolish mindset of saving every soul out there. "If it's something more akin to a hospital style, you could get a lot of experience in working with Nurse Aki."
