Sengoku Horizon

Look towards the Horizon

The Warring States Period: Fierce warlords fought for control of Japan, and many would perish. When a warrior falls, where does the passion they once held go? Possibly into something dear such as a favorite weapon or heirloom. These heirlooms have been labeled as “relics”, and those that carry them are labeled as “Scions." Recently more and more of these special relics have been activating, signaling the start of a great change as ancient power meets the modern world!

Now For The Local News, 7/10/2017 A blood red summer has come. As the Edo Bugei students finish facing off with the ikko forces all across the nation a massive steel ship floats towards Edo Harbor. The final battle between the Ikko Ikki rebels and the Edo Bugei students is about to begin. The lingering question now, just how much of Edo will be left standing once the battle ends?

Kitsu saw the kneel down, and figured out what was coming. He shifted his weight and moved slightly, letting the blow of the fist glance off of his leg harmlessly. He looked down at his opponent with great distaste, and simply launched a kick at her face. The use of his relic also crossed his mind, and he wasn't against using it if it got him the finishing blow, but for now he would keep it to the side.

A cheep shot being the first attack kinda reminded Kitsu of himself, and it almost made him proud. He was mad about the attempt, but couldn't completely disown her for doing it. All is fair in love and war, and this was defiantly war at this point. For now he would wait to see what happened with the kick he delivered before acting again.

Well it didn't work, obviously, but it had been a good shot and if the guy wasn't prepared for a cheap blow in a fair fight, he shouldn't be running a gang. Buru saw the reaction coming, it was always going to be a kick to the side of the head or a knee to the face. That was just logical when you were down on your knees. She raised her hands for the knee and almost didn't react in time for the kick. In fact, you might say she didn't react in time. The kick barely clipped the side of her head but it was enough to rattle the cupboards and knock a few cobwebs loose.

She acted quickly despite the ringing in her ears. Bu rose quickly with her arms outstretched hoping to capture the foot under the crook of the knee and pin it against the guy's chest. Hopefully, it would accomplish three things. It would give her more control, open up half his body to free shots, and leave her open to very little damage back with half his body pinned away.

Kitsu was a firm believer in not following rules. That's why he was kicked out of the artillery class. Having his relic on his body allowed him to activate his abilities discretely. His leg got pinned up, leaving him with one leg to stand on, and he made an annoyed grunt. He activated his Ogre Powerstrike ability, increasing his strength to extreme levels for a few moments. He used the power to force his leg back down into a standing position, cracking the roof as it landed.

He used the knock back of the incident to take a single attempt at hitting his opponent with an inhumanly strong punch to the stomach. If it was successful, he would then grapple the Welsh Rabbit leader before throwing her like a piece of paper across the rooftop. Shortly after this his strength would wear off.

Well that wasn't fair, she thought to herself as he forced his leg down. This guy was inhumanly strong, that magical doodad of his definitely did more than just shoot fences. But she didn't have much time to dwell on it before she caught a punch to the stomach that knocked the air out of her lungs. She hadn't felt a hit like that inn a long time and she really hadn't expected to feel something like it after she had arrived at the school. Grappling was not going to be the best tactic to use on this guy.

Unfortunately, she had sort of set herself up for it and flailed a bit when she was picked up and thrown across the roof. It wasn't much different than crashing a bike and frankly, thanks to her artifact and how it wasn't sixty milses an hour, it was really nothing. Bu rolled to her feet and gasped for air, coughing and spitting bile onto the concrete roof. She swayed a bit. This was a proper workout. Her superhuman durability was finally getting a test of its limits, she'd not been allowed to push it before. Better to do it now than when it really mattered.

Bu spat out more bile and then smiled at Kitsu. "You remind me of the old chief of the Rabbits. Your people are lucky to have somebody as strong as you leading them." Then she charged in a again and sent a roundhouse kick toward Kitsu's head. She'd avoid grappling now, it had to be trading blows.

Kitsu had a look of admiration on his face. He has only hit one other person that hard, and they didn't live to tell the tale. He was immediately impressed by the recovery time, and was distracted enough to not pay attention to the kick. It was hard enough to cause him to stagger a bit, but he recovered quickly, with another angry look.

He would fire back and uppercut at his opponent's jaw. He never went for a straight punch because of the human tendency to look down when something comes toward their face. The forehead has one of the strongest bones in the body, and without his powerstrike ability, he ran the risk of breaking his own hand if he did that.

A hit, a good and solid hit. That was great. It definitely made her smile even wider. She was a bit worried that he might be better at technique fighting, like some sort of trained martial artist. Bu didn't have much hope that she could fight a trained judo fighter or something without resorting to the really dirty tricks. She couldn't help but just smile at him as he glared at her. She was having fun, his fault for not getting into the spirit of the thing.

She saw the punch coming and leaned back so rather than taking the full hit, it just clipped her chin and made her teeth rattle. This hit, at least, wasn't anywhere as strong as the one to the stomach fortunately but it still left her off balance. With a bit of panic induced improvisation, she flung her foot out and up where he had been hoping to catch him in the groin, stomach, chest, head, something substantial before she fell over.

When her back hit the ground, she had already pushed off with one elbow to roll away. If her kick didn't stop it, a stomp to somewhere soft was not something she wanted to feel. She felt something hot in her mouth dripping out and down her lip, she must have bitten her tongue. Great, that's what she needed right now.

Kitsu took the hit in his stomach well. His core strength that came from training with his pistol kept him standing and only just flinching with the kick's impact. It would have hurt him more, but his opponent was off balance, causing less of an impact. He looked down at Buru very unimpressed. He leaned down and picked her up by her shoulders, and planted her feet on the ground, he almost seemed irritated that she wasn't getting any solid hits.

"Hit me," he stated with a stern look. He was irritated that this didn't seem like a fair fight to him, and he was determined to give her some free shots to see if it was even worth continuing with her. He stood with his arms to his side, intentionally showing himself as defenseless.

Bu was not having as much fun now. By now it should have been an all out brawl wrestling on the ground with a bit of blood and all that other fun stuff that came of a good tussle. Instead he wasn't fighting back properly. He seemed bored and that was more annoying than anything else. Well if he wasn't going to give her the attention he should be, she'd have to drag it out of him. She wanted a rough and tumble fight with desperate strikes like wild animals, she wanted some passion.

"Come on, what's with all these free hits? You better not be underestimating me." She walked forward and clenched her right hand into a fist. He was acting like he wouldn't block, well she'd seen how that went with the cheap shot earlier. It had been funny even if she'd paid for it after. He'd probably see another one of those coming. "You want to get hit? I'll hit you alright."

She pulled her arm back for a cross and then jumped forward bringing her head forward in a surprise skull bash hopefully to his nose. if that connected, she'd throw out as many quick rabbit punches to his sides as she could before she had to bounce back to avoid the retaliation.

His head reflexively tilted forward, but the skull bash would still strike the top of his nose, causing it to bleed, but not break thankfully. He would recoil from it slightly, as he received several blows to his midsection. He doubled over slightly after the flurry of punches, and was able to recover soon after Bu jumped back. His hands remained by his side the entire time, showing no signs of him even trying to defend any of this.

He looked up from his hunched over position and locked his eyes on her. "Even when I refuse to defend myself, you still seem to be afraid of me." He began to walk towards the young female gang leader again ominously, spitting out some blood that ran from his nose. "You've got one more chance to show me what you've got." He continued walking forward at her, his hands still down in an undefended stance. He felt his power starting to return, and knew it wouldn't be long now...

This was getting boring. She folded her arms across her chest and glared at him. "I assumed you were going to fight, not stand there like a sack of meat. If I wanted to beat a dead horse, I'd have gone to class." She didn't give much reaction to his approach. "What happened to that punch earlier? Ah actually felt something there." But now he was just asking to take hits, she didn't like fighting people who didn't fight back. It wasn't right or fair or fun.

Her mind spun like a hamster on a wheel and she thought about her options. She was tempted to grab his face and waist and lock herself down. But that would be cruel. She rubbed her fingers together and a tiny bit of dust fell from them. She did want to. It would be so easy, so simple. Bond the stone over his mouth and nose and watch him suffocate, lock his gun into his own belly so he could do nothing but shoot himself. Cruel, but he was asking her to do that. It would be so easy.

She briefly shook her head and forced the idea back down. That wasn't who she was, she had a code. Whether or not he could break through the stone with his strength, whether or not he didn't react the moment she grabbed him, it was wrong. She wouldn't go that far. By the time she had made her decision, he was almost on her. "No."

A single word but she wouldn't leave it at that. "Ah don't fight people who don't or won't fight back, ya know. Ah played your little game of taking turns. So here's what Ah got. Ah'm going to hit you in the face with this fist," she held up her right fist "then you're gonna hit me back, maybe even a couple times if you're quick. Otherwise Ah'm done. Cause let me tell you, the only thing Ah'm trying to get out of this fight is a bit of fun and if it ain't fun, Ah don't want to bother with you." She brushed her hands together and a few grains of sand fell from them. She didn't need her artifact for fun.

She clenched her right hand into a fist and punched him in the eye. She didn't want tricks, she didn't care to win or get an advantage, she just wanted him to fight back.

Kitsu chuckled slightly at the complaining that his opponent was doing. "You call it boring, but if I fought at my full ability, you would be dead already." She finally took his challenge of hitting him. She announced what was going to happen, and Kitsu just stood and didn't move. He wanted a good fight, but there was apparently not going to be one. This opponent was weak, and the punch in his eye was a good show of just how weak.

He recoiled slightly when he was hit, and he blinked and rubbed his eye a few times. Without using his abilities at all, he used his strength to send a punch directly at his opponent's face. If it was successful, a few more would be thrown one after another at her stomach this time. He would stand back up and stretch all his muscles, some of his joints cracking as he did so. He sent a message with the punches hopefully, and it was time to wait for a reply.

A slugfest like this was so boring. There was nothing fun about tests of endurance, it was like running a marathon until you passed out and she was pretty sure she could outlast this guy. Maybe he was a gang leader, he had the swagger, the strength, the attitude but he was so boring. All he really had to stand out was the magic gun and she wasn't interested in that. Guns were for killing, they had no place in a fight.

He didn't react much to her punch which was a bit of a surprise, she'd hit him pretty hard. Sure she wasn't wearing her knuckle gloves or anything but it had been a pretty good hit. "Is full strength your gun? Because that's not strength. It's just cheap." She took the punch to the face and rolled with it, she felt it but it was nothing like the punch from before or even the kick he'd caught her with at the start. Before she'd turned back, she took the hits to the stomach but she'd tensed up for the follow up and it hardly even phased her.

She glared at him as he stretched. A few points had been made here to both sides, probably none of them were the intended points. "There's more to a fight than killing, doncha know. Shooting somebody doesn't prove your strong. Just proves you have a gun." If he was strong enough to take punches and boring enough to not require tricks, it was time to kick. She skipped forward and brought her leg up high and then down for an axe kick. She didn't intend to break his collarbone but she was pretty sure he deserved it if it happened.

Kitsu activated his inhuman strength of Ogre's powerstrike again. He caught the axe kick using the respective arm, holding it in place on the shoulder that was targeted. He had a few split second decisions to not crack her femur in half like a pencil, and instead used his strength to throw her onto the ground as hard as he could, spiking her like a football. "The gun is for killing, but you're not worthy of dying like that." He picked her up by the leg and threw her across the roof at the hole he had previously made, attempting to fling her off the roof and rid himself of her troublesome ways forever.

If she fell through, he would then begin to make his way over to the stairwell, wondering if he could lay claim to her gang, wherever it was, now that the leader was dead, having fallen off the roof of a multi-level building by 'accident'.

It was a good block, he hadn't let her even start bringing it down and suddenly that strength she'd been waiting for was back as she was thrown face first into the ground. Her nose against the concrete she started to giggle. This was fantastic, the fun had returned. It had hurt some and she wondered if she was bleeding again. But before she could check or start responding, she felt his strong hands around her leg and and was sent tumbling along the roof. Her laughter didn't stop as she tumbled along but did when suddenly she was rolling on nothing.

That was weird, she tried to make sense of it but a second and a half is not a very long time to get your bearings and she slammed into the ground hard. At least, it seemed, looked, and sounded hard to anyone who might have seen it. For Bu, it felt not unlike when she fell out of a small tree. Thirty five feet reduced to the equivalent of eight. Not that she had any way to realize. Mostly all she realized was her shoulder and side hurt a lot. She got up to her feet quickly while holding her shoulder and looked for where the next attack would come from.

But nothing looked right, she was on grass, there were walls around. Then she looked up and saw the roof and fence. Her face broke into a grin as she caught on to what happened. Then she started giggling. Giggles turned into loud, barking laughter. She'd fallen off the school and survived. This magic stuff was amazing. Imagine what you could survive on a bike. The meeting had been a waste of time, the guy wasn't smart enough to see the benefits of peace, of a code. But now she knew a bit more about her own limitations and that was very important. Bu started limping off toward the athletic field and laughed all the way. Maybe somebody there would fight her properly.

Kitsu swaggered his way down the stairwell and pulled his kimono back onto his shoulder and stuck one arm through. He exited the stairwell into the sunlight and stretched, but stopped and had a dumbfounded look on his face. "Laughter?" He couldn't help but say it out loud due to his confusion. He turned the corner and looked up the building to the hole in the rooftop, and then down to the ground where his opponent should be laying broken and half dead.

A small bit of blood on the ground was all that was left, and he looked around to find the leader of the Welsh Rabbits. He finally saw her, and couldn't help but utter, "What....the....F[Curse Word]?" She was limping away, broken, bruised, but alive. This meeting was a waste of time, but what he learned about this person was not. He folded his arms in what was almost a pout if it wasn't for the slightly impressed smile on his face. He would let this go for now, but if they ever fought again, he vowed to destroy her.

"You'll limp away this time," he called out to her, "When we cross paths again, you won't be so lucky!" He disgusted himself slightly. This sounded like a childhood rivalry, and it bothered him. He wasn't a kid anymore, he was a gang leader. This was ridiculous. He gagged internally at the thought and kept his arms folded as he sauntered his way in the other direction slowly but in a way that made him seem like he was confident and in control. But in reality he needed a hot bath and an ice pack. His muscles were strained from his ability and his face was bruised and bleeding.

END THREAD
