With the new dorms reformed and back to how things used to be, if not better than ever, a larger gathering space was set up now with a sky bridge leading off to the respected gender dorms. Assistant movers helped several students gather their things from the apartments though it wasn't easy to assume that 'every' student moved into the new dorms. Some even held off in pending if they wanted to be away from the school or settle for the convince of location thanks to Izuki-senpai's offer back at the earth quake.

Personally missing the dorm setting but have yet to move her things just yet, Suishoku hung around the more spacious living room couches in the gaming area section. Off to the side was a refreshments bar of sorts that the students can help themselves to while a student cafeteria was placed along the opposite side of the room and upstairs. Signs directing the the spa, public bath, and work out center hung on the walls between heavy streams of garland and holiday decorations. The new dorms wanted to be as inviting as possible to returning and new students alike to put everyone's mind in the most festive as possible although it pales in comparison to the foreigner's district.

Various students walked to and fro within the main lobby. Some carrying their bags to move in and some just wandering around experience the new dorms for the first time. It was refreshing to see new faces and that in turn made Suishoku wonder if she's gotten 'old' in a sense. She's been in Bugei for about two years, now starting her third, and a lot has happened over the years with the last being far more hectic than what first year may have been. It got her to question how she was planning to do things and bidding her time in this facility. In her typical future procrastination ways, Suishoku got up to make herself a whipped cream hot cocoa and snuggle into the couch comforters near the fire. Bad things will happen by spring so why dwell on the inevitable when maintaining sanity in these good cheer days seemed to have hold more importance.

Loud footsteps could be heard as Takuma walked into the lobby. Hunched over, several large bags and boxes were on his back; obviously a new student moving into the dorms. He moved quickly to a couch, carefully dropping his luggage on the floor next to the couch. Straightening up, his back popped as he stretched. Seeing other students carrying their own luggage at least meant that he'd arrived at the right place.

Yet, Takuma picked up his bags, piling them next to the couch and out of the path of the other students. He slumped into the couch, looking over at the girl with cocoa. "Oh, hello. Cold out there, isn't it?"

Small talk, obvious small talk. Yet Takuma had a smile on his face. He seemed happy, even with all the recent events still hanging in the air.

The door opened in passing of another student coming through. A brief chill came through then drowned out by near by heat lamps near the door entry way to melt off any snow and prevent collection so no one would end up tripping. Suishoku didn't pay much mind to it, since the door will be opening and closing constantly, till a load of luggage was parked near the lounge area and a male with shaggy hair and messy ponytail combo appeared into view to greet her in mild conversation.

"Yeah. Best bundle up when you're heading out there." Suishoku agreed, greeting him by raising her hot chocolate toward the new student. "Help yourself to that side bar before hauling all that stuff. You got a sky bridge and...whatever else you need to get to your room." An open palm motion toward the drinks area where it was loaded with supplies to make hot cinnamon spiced tea or hot cocoas like hers. Creamers and sugar rested by whip cream cans to fulfill any needs.

"This all your stuff?" She would ask after he had gotten himself a drink or declined. Her head craned over to count how many bags there were in total. "Should be a bag cart around somewhere," they muttered before taking a long drink to earn a whip cream mustache. She shifted her legs to sit with them tucked under her in the couch corner to resume a relaxed posture. "Didn't have any trouble getting here, I hope."

He sat there, sinking into the couch as his body relaxed. I'm not thirsty, but thanks for offering."

Smiling, Takuma laughed slightly. "Yeah, most of it is just clothes and gardening tools. Once spring comes round, I'm gonna try to grow some crops for the Home Economics Club. I may have gotten lost on the way here, but once I saw other students carrying luggage, I figured I was heading the right way."

In truth it had taken him 2 hours to get here. Two hours of wandering around Edo, making wrong turns and eventually ending up here. Yet he was happy to be near a fire, a comfy couch, and someone friendly enough to talk to him.

Takuma reached up to his hair, grabbing the ponytail between his thumb and index finger. He kept playing with it like a cat toy. "I'm sorry, I'm Saito Takuma by the way. Sorry I didn't introduce myself."

Winter always brought out all the layers of clothing a parent insisted their child wear. Things that normally might have just taken up space in a dresser would be piled on in the name of warmth. That had been Tōdō Inori's lot the previous year in Hyuga when she'd attended a school closer to her home in Agata. Having recalled the bundle of clothes her mother insisted on, she'd brought more sweaters and scarves than she'd practically use in Edo. Not that she was wearing much now that she was on her own at last. Rather she had elected to wear a pair of dark green trousers with athletic shoes, a white t-shirt under a brown man's sweater that was two sizes too big and a black winter cap with the Tōdō clan mon in gold embroidery front and center.

She'd been escorted to the front of the dorm building by Lady Suzume, who was much more practically dressed for the winter chill. As they had at last arrived at their destination the adult set Inori's extra bags down and looked intensely into the girl's eyes. There was a cool determination in them that challenged the Tōdō princess to match her; Inori returned the same look - it kind of looked like the two were sizing each other up for a fight. Then the usually stoic or sour-faced samurai woman smiled and pulled Inori into a tight hug. Inori hugged tight as well - Suzume was like a big sister to her, and it was because of this woman that she was who she was today. After a long couple of moments the adult handed Inori an envelope, bowed and then strode off to begin her return trip to Hyuga.

Inori bowed, then waved as Suzume headed off. She kept it up until Suzume was more or less out of sight too. Only after that did she stop and take a deep breath, fists clenched in determination. It was all her now! Fired up in such a manner she slipped the envelope into the front pocket of her backpack. Then she pulled the backpack onto her back, slung a large unwieldy case containing her yumi over her left shoulder, pulled a duffel bag over her right shoulder and took her two suitcases by the handles. With all her setup done she waited until someone else already had the front door open.

Once this came to pass she rushed in, eager to get out of the cold (which admittedly was worse than she'd thought it would be). After nearly bowling over an assistant mover she abruptly apologized, rubbing the back of her head nervously. This was a bit more complicated than she'd thought it would be. Way more people already than she'd expected. But no matter. She got her things off to the side of the lobby, set them down and then made a beeline for the hot drinks. They called to her, a beacon of warmth in the harsh cold of winter. Well, maybe it wasn't that dramatically bad but she did realize she'd under dressed for the weather now that she was inside.

Inori got herself something both hot and sweet, sniffing it as if to clear her nostrils or bring new life to her person. Her first sip made her eyes light up. This was way better than the stuff she'd gotten out of vending machines on the way from Agata. Feeling progressively comfy she saw there were a couple of other students taking refuge near the couches. At first a tinge of her old shyness made her hesitate to approach them. This was dismissed as she reminded herself of what Suzume had taught her: 'a lady is proud of who she is and does not back down from it.' Nodding at the reminder she strode over and gave kind of a goofy grin.

"Hi! That's a lot of stuff you got there, it's impressive you carried it this far," she spoke to the boy before addressing the slightly older looking girl, "Now you've got the right idea there. Best to be both warm and comfy in the winter, and it looks like you've done both.."

Then she realized an oversight. Chuckling awkwardly she introduced herself, "Where are my manners, huh? Sorry I didn't lead with an intro... I'm Tōdō Inori, and I'm just starting here this next term. Nice to meet ya!"

"Gardening tools!?" This was a first! Suishoku wiped her cream mustache and moved to climb a bit to look over a the bags. She couldn't rightly tell which ones were clothes and which were his tools but any bag counter higher than two meant some serious over packing. The luggage lacked a clan mark like many of the noble children so he likely wasn't of such lineage. "Well, if it interest you, the school has a green house. Ought to be space in there for you to use but I take it you're going to start a herb garden or something in the club room? The other members would enjoy that," Suishoku informed him. "I believe there are some mover helpers around the dorms or a push cart to borrow when you head for the guy's side."

Introductions came around and Suishoku smiled and nodded in greeting to the gardener. It was now that a rather pretentious girl arrived and made herself known along with some pointers. Her sandal brown head turned to the new face before down at herself briefly from how she sat. The combo of comfort, huh? Her words weren't so unfamiliar, granted the few times she ran into more boisterous students earlier this year, but they brought a small humor with them.

"Well, I'm Yuubae Suishoku. Been here for second, going on three years in Edo Bugei,"
she greeted both Saitou Takuma and Tōdō Inori. Todo? Her eyes settled on Inori for a moment longer upon the last name. "Ne, Inori-san, would you happen to know a Todo Mikoto by any chance?" The odds of meeting another family member within the school were pretty low with the selective nature of students that end up enrolled to Edo Bugei but if many Suzuki were scattered across Japan but are separate family lines after all, that too would have been acceptable and not thought of differently.

The reaction to his tools was a bit surprising, surely other students brought along tools for their hobbies. Or perhaps it really was strange. "Is it really that odd?"

Takuma looked at the new girl, smiling as he greeted her, "Well come warm up by the fire. It's not that impressive, those bags aren't nearly as bad as a person."

He looked back at Suishoku, "Pleased to meet both of you. I can't wait to see what Bugei has to offer."

Takuma turned his head to the side slightly as Suishoku asked about Inori's relation to another Todo. He didn't really pay attention to the specifics of clan relations, but based on how Suishoku looked at Inori, Takuma assumed something was wrong between their clans.

What a relief to be out of the cold. Mirai had spent half the way here wishing she’d worn another layer, but alas her clothes were packed so tightly in her large wheeled bag that she feared she would be unable to fit everything back in if she disrupted the carefully planned packing of the bags to get another jacket out. It was warm inside the dorm building though, cozy even, and they were students everywhere, some with luggage, some without, some exploring the place with a look of wonder in their eyes.

Mirai stood in the doorway for a moment, savouring the heat and shaking snow off her sleeves and bags, until some student also loaded with bags asked if she could please move out of the doorway. She stutteringly apologised - she hadn’t even realised she might be blocking the way for others - and continued through into what seemed to be some kind of communal living room type area, with some couches crowded around a fire and a small area to prepare drinks. The drinks caught her interest - she could still feel the chill from outside and a hot drink would be perfect to chase away the remnants of the cold - but she was wouldn’t have been able to carry a mug as well as her three bags. I’ll get one once I’ve put my stuff away, she thought.

She was excited to see the rest of the dorms, too; after all, they were going to be her home for the next few years, unless there were more unforeseen disasters like the earthquake that she’d heard had destroyed the original dorms. They’d looked impressive enough from the outside, so what would they be like indoors? Mirai thought the lobby and this living area were pretty awesome; they seemed like they had plenty to cater to the students’ needs, and Mirai had seen more doors leading off to places she was yet to explore that would no doubt be just as cool as what she'd seen already.

The strap of one bag had started to slip off her shoulder. Mirai shrugged, trying to keep it from falling off; it was a reminder that she needed to go and find the room she’d been allocated so she could finally put her bags down. She was just about to head off to look for it when she glanced over to the couches and noticed a girl she recognised sitting there chatting with a couple of other students she’d never seen before. Her eyes lit up. It’s Yuubae-san! Mirai made her way over to the couches; she would have liked to wave, but both her hands were full carrying or wheeling bags. “Yuubae-san! It’s good to see you again,” she said cheerfully as she approached. It didn’t occur to her that there was a possibility she might have been interrupting. She looked at the two students that Yuubae seemed to be talking with. “Oh. Hello." She smiled. "I guess I should introduce myself, shouldn't I? I’m Okada Mirai.”

Things were even better for the new Bugei student: the other students were pretty welcoming! Both the girl and the boy she'd been talking to were pretty friendly and introduced themselves quickly enough. That just made the Tōdō girl's grin brighten a teensy bit more (if that were indeed possible). She had no reservations accepting the boy's invitation to take a seat either. In fact the moment it had been extended she flopped down onto the couch with such gusto that she bounced on the cushion a bit. As far as she could tell this was going to be a really exciting year!

"Nice to meetcha, Suishoku-san, Takuma-san. I wasn't sure if the other students would be all stuffy, to be honest. Edo Bugei's got such a reputation for training the elite that I'm surprised they took me," Inori spoke cheerfully before she told the boy, "Aw, don't be modest! It's not easy carrying that many boxes in the winter no less.. impressive indeed."

"Wait, Tōdō Mikoto?" she repeated the person Suishoku had asked about. At first she looked confused at the idea that such a person existed. Then her expression waxed thoughtful as she tried to remember where she'd heard that name before - it did sound awfully familiar. Finally she realized who the girl was asking about, and that 'eureka' expression (complete with fist pounding into a palm for emphasis) was quickly followed by a giggle. Inori asked, "So wait, you've met Tōdō Mikoto? Isn't that just the tsuchinoko's tail! Here I thought she'd gone away.. yes, I know Miko-chan. Used to play with Miko-chan when I was younger... kind of a cute princess-type, right? You might say Miko-chan is kind of my big sister."

She was still giggling about that when still another girl arrived at the couches. After getting her own laughter under control - but still amused that Miko-chan still existed - Inori tuned into the girl's greeting. She wasn't anyone the Tōdō princess had met before but she did seem pretty nice. Clearly she knew Suishoku, who was nice herself. Therefore it stood to reason that this girl was nice by extension, as a nice person tended to associate with other nice people. That philosophy reinforced, she waited until the girl had introduced herself before speaking up.

With a little wave that turned into a salute halfway through, Inori said, "Hi! I'm Tōdō Inori, it's nice to meetcha Mirai-san!"

"You can say that again," Suishoku agreed before hiding a long drink of her chocoalate. Edo Bugei sure would take anyone under certain conditions. Inori here seemed to be here for the arts or political if she was going to openly say that. Though went giving a response about Mikoto did Suishoku raise a brow at first.

Met? Why does that sound a bit off? Well, several things sounded a bit strange to Suishoku as the Inori described Mikoto more. "Princess like? Gone away? I think they've been at this school awhile. We met at least a month ago before the dorms reopened again." Confused by this, let alone seeing Mikoto as a princess before, Suishoku drank her cocoa. The Mikoto she met didn't seem to match the words at all. "Maybe it was a different Todo family then. Sorry if I am mistaken if you were both related." Even as Inori said she has met Mikoto before and sees her as an elder sister, Suishoku was really confused on if they were talking about the same person. If not that then the hurt Mikoto she met may have a different light to them.

"Oh, hey, Mirai," she greeted the new girl she met some time ago as well. "Glad you found the dorms. This place is real convenient. Set your stuff aside and warm up with some cocoa or whatever from the counter." The senior encouraged by all means and relief Mirai didn't seem ragged in finding the place. It brought some peace of mind to her before resuming conversation as Inori commented about the less strict atmosphere of Bugei thus far.

Not to leave Takuma hanging, Suishoku waved away his doubt. "A bit. I mean, bringing a spade wouldn't be the first thing on my mind to bring from home." Suishoku laughed a little to Takuma upon the subject of him bringing his own gardening supplies. "But still, the green house members would love someone like you showing up there." Still trying to encourage him to check the school's green house out, it came to her attention that other people have started to gather around the campfire lounge.

"But hey," changing the subject a little did Suishoku look to the new comers with an important question. "how are you guys going to spend the winter? I know you all just arrived here but it is that festive time plus new years. Don't tell me you're all here to just move in your stuff before taking the train out for personal holidays." The concern came from how those zealous monks are just out there somewhere waiting for the spring so she hoped no one here had some dangerous travel plans.

Takuma smiled at Mirai, "Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Saito Takuma, first year."

He looked back at Suishoku, "Well it's not the only thing I brought."

Takuma got up, moving to the counter. Making a cup of hot cocoa, he dumped several marshmallows into it. Stirring the cocoa as he stood up near the couch. Suishoku asked about their holiday plans. Takuma hadn't put much thought in it, but it did leave him with a sense of freedom. Without classes, he wasn't sure what he'd do. Read? Study? Maybe explore the town?

"Uh... I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I hadn't thought it through that much. I don't think I'll be going home till classes are over."

Takuma took a big sip of the cocoa, sitting back down on the couch. Going home would be more tricky since his family moved so often. He wasn't even sure which city they were in right now.

The girl’s name was Tōdō Inori, and the boy’s name was Saito Takuma. Right. Two names wasn’t too hard to remember. “Yes, it’s nice to meet you both.” She nodded at Yuubae’s suggestion of setting her bags down and getting a drink. “I think I will go get something, actually.” Someone else had already left a bunch of their luggage next to one of the couches, so Mirai added her own bags in a pile just next to what was already there.

Mirai seemed to have walked into the middle of some conversation between Yuubae and Saito; “bringing a spade wouldn't be the first thing on my mind to bring from home” didn’t make a lot of sense to her without the context. Now unburdened by her bags, she slipped over to the counter to make herself a coffee. Perhaps it wasn't solely because she wanted a drink, but also partially because she didn't really have anything to add to conversation she'd come into halfway and didn't really know what they were talking about.

When she returned, mug of black coffee steaming in hand, she was just in time to catch Yuubae asking about their plans for the holidays. Sipping her coffee, Mirai plopped onto a couch as Saito talked about his plans for the holidays.

“You’re not the only one who’s not sure, Saito-san,” Mirai said with a nod. “I’ll be here over the winter break too and I didn’t really have plans. I thought I might need to spend some time getting used to these dorms and exploring Edo a bit more, but that’s not really a very specific plan, and with the weather like it is I don’t know if I’ll be able to convince myself to go outside around Edo.” She almost shivered just thinking about the piles of snow that lay around Edo and only grew bigger with each passing day.

Inori was even more convinced that this was the same Mikoto she knew of as Suishoku spoke. The true identity of Mikoto was a student that had been a student at Edo Bugei for a good while. Nodding more as she convinced herself they were speaking of the same person, she wondered if Mikoto had in fact made multiple appearances recently. As Suishoku spoke in confusion, Inori laughed a little. She should probably clarify a little, "Nah, it's gotta be the same Miko-chan. There's only one Todo Mikoto I can think of and that Mikoto is definitely a student here, who's been here for a long time. Miko-chan's on the diplomacy track, right?"

Whether or not that were confirmed, Inori attempted to follow the conversation which the other two were having. Though she had some idea what it was about she didn't really want to interrupt it. Let alone stop it from reaching a resolution of some sort. So she let her mind wander a bit.. were any of these students on the same track as her? You never could tell who would be in what sort of field - look where she'd been a few years ago compared to where she stood now! Maybe it'd just be best to ask about it and see what they said. What clubs were around? That was another thing she wanted to know but hadn't really been aware of due to being easily distracted by other things. This line of thinking abruptly ended when she heard the question Suishoku posed to them.

Neither Takuma nor Mirai knew what they were going to do other than they weren't going home. That was when the seeds were planted in the Todo girl's mind. Seeds for a plan that might help them become more acquainted with their surroundings and with each other. Why not do something fun to celebrate the winter and make some friends? Yeah, this was going to be neat.

"It seems like a big waste to head back to Agata after sailing all the way up here. I didn't really have any plans other than coming here, dropping off my stuff, breaking big news to my brother and his best friend and stuff.. but maybe we should do something together!" Inori responded, grinning confidently, "How about we play a game or something. Don't even have to leave the dorms if it's too cold out there to adventure through the city. Something where we can all get to know each other better and have fun all at once. And.. I'm.. not sure what that game is, but we'll figure it out."

"If you say so." Suishoku still wasn't all too sure but maybe Mikoto could clear all that up. Wait, she did have their number. A text then. She politely nodded to Inori then shifted to listen to each person's reasons and thoughts of what to really do for winter break. They all just arrived in Edo but lacked any idea of what to do.

Inori went ahead to think up a game idea. Suishoku nodded in agreement to this but stood up with her empty cup in hand. "Sounds great. Although you guys have some fun. I still have some things back at the apartment to get before moving to the dorms," were her reasons of departure as she started getting ready to head back into the cold.

"Ah but I do recommend visiting the foreigner's district some time. Winter is just their season and the place really lights up. Edo's no slacker when it comes to holidays," Suishoku gleefully reminded the new first years to encourage them to check out Edo city when possible. She threw away the empty cup and started getting her coat and scarf on. On the way out, she waved good-bye to Mirai in passing before leaving with a brief chilly draft behind her as the dorm doors open and shut.

Mikoto:
I met this girl, Inori, that seems to know you back at the new dorms right now. Why not swing by and say 'hi' to them when you get the chance. Stay warm, Suishoku

[Exit.]
((You guys carry on and I'll pop back in later if it's still up))

Takuma nodded at the remarks on the weather. "Your right, leaving the dorms is seeming less likely if the weather stays cold."

He kept drinking, refilling his cocoa. "And what sort of games did you have in mind Mikoto-san?"

The idea of playing a game to get to know people was intriguing. Yet he wasn't sure it was a good idea. There were better ways to get to know people, but none of those would likely be as fun.

As Suishoku got ready to leave, Takuma took his place back on the couch. "Well stay warm Suishoku-san, it looks like it's getting colder out there. It was nice meeting you."

He smiled as he sipped more of his drink. Looking back at Inori and Mirai, "So what's the plan?"

He was quite excited to see how things turned out here.
