As the two went to the room and Kire took a hot shower Nobuyori decided to change after all. He found no point in keeping wet clothes on if he didn't need to. He took off his soaked clothing and folded his wardrobe into a traveling case. Part of him worried about his clothing molding over, but as long as he washed his clothing shortly after he returned to the Bugei he would likely be fine.

By the time Kire finished his time in the bath both he and Nobuyori went off to the train. To greet them happened to be two rather hefty looking men. Nobuyori nodded to them.
"Thank you for protecting us." he said politely. After all he was a clan representative, and technically so where these samurai. With the two of them in one car and Nobuyori and Kire in another part of the train right behind them Nobuyori was finally able to lay in one of the beds and rest his muscles. It had been a long, tiring day and the young prince was completely out of energy.

While doing his best to recover it was then that Kire started talking.
"Hey Azai, I don't think we should just drop to sleep. The gorillas ahead of us aren't bad but, you know, better safe than sorry. Who knows how long until backup arrived for the dead guys in the cave. Not as if we were really very subtle or sneaky either." as he spoke Nobuyori's already had his eyes closed and was listening to the sounds of the air around him as Kire's words cut in. For a bit the prince said nothing, after all talking meant moving. Though he was sure Kire felt the same.

"How about lightly resting? We'll lay in these beds and let our muscles relax a bit. We haven't rested much and used a lot of energy. If anyone attacks its not like it won't wake us up." he was kind of hoping he would convince Kire to let the two of them go to sleep. Though he did add
"At least the train likely doesn't have ninja. The two samurai might be Ikko though." he said more thinking to himself than anything else. Turning his head a bit he looked in Kire's direction.
"Getting my throat slight in my sleep isn't really fitting of a prince of a Daimyo family." he said with a bit of sadness in his voice. He really did want to sleep, but no amount of denial or argument would make Kire's statements less accurate. The boy was 100% on point regardless of how Nobuyori wanted to do things.

"Alright. I'll stay up." he said.

As the two boys rested in their train room the train began to roar to life. The two guards lightly knocked on the door to the boy's cabin to let them know the train was taking off. Though the steady movement of the train as it's speed increased could have easily told them the same. Kire seemed sharp and awake while Nobuyori seemed far more focused on resting.

The sky had began going quite dark as the train set off towards the city of Edo. In the night the city around the boys vanished and quickly gave way to the countryside of southern Kyushu. A light from the city back to Edo would have likely been far too pricey. Thus the boys now traveled by train. In the night outside they wouldn't be able to see enemies, friends, or much of anything except farmland.

The train was fast but a bit rough as even inside what should have been a luxury cabin the air was still a bit cold. If not for the blankets provided in the sleeping cabin along with the beds the boys would likely feel as though they would freeze.

Why was everywhere they went on this mission so freaking cold? It boggled the mind and chilled the bone. He'd hoped and expected research in a warm forge, maybe even an old castle with a roaring fireplace and a library. But no, he was sent to dank murder caves out of a stupid video game and trains with a complete lack of proper heating. He stood up and held the blanket close over his shoulders.

"No need for us both to stay up, I'm just saying one of us should be aware of what's going on at all times." He shrugged the blanket higher and stepped over to the window. What a miserable view. What this place needed was a proper heating system followed by a forge, or at least a fire place. An unlikely future for a train. Still, he'd probably have filed a complaint if he wasn't traveling for free at the last minute. Might still do it anyway.

Well, there was little to do but wait or pace around and he wasn't going to wander the halls aimlessly. That would be dumb and probably disruptive. Instead, he dug into his bag and pulled out a basic blade care kit. He usually kept it in case he had to clean one of his own swords out in the field, there was a more heavy duty one in his baggage set aside for this potential artifact. But he wasn't going to hunt that down now, he'd just make do and see what he could discover about the legitimacy of Genchiyo's sword.

The moment Kire suggested that they both didn't need to stay up Nobuyori's eyes closed and his head rested a bit on his pillow. Cold or not the Azai prince was decidedly use to a carefree and luxurious life. In spite of being a samurai and having fought against the Ikko, he was still someone who reveled in comforts whenever he could find them. As sad as it would be to admit later, right now the train was the most comfort the boys had managed to get all day and the young lord wasn't about to let this chance pass him by.

Squirming and adjusting a bit in bed Nobuyori yawned as he sleepily looked at Kire.
"I feel glad to have such a partner on this mission." he said as he made himself more comfy and got into his sleeping position. The words that had come from him weren't quite a thank you, as it wasn't something the young prince often said if ever. Instead it was more a thank you to the Kami that instead of someone easily scared, or killed, or swimming impaired, he had gotten Kire of all people.

With his eyes now shut again and his dyed blond hair laid out across his pillow he noticed just how chilly it was outside of the blankets. It was far too damn cold and he doubted either himself nor Kire would be taking off the blankets before they reached Edo and could finally get out of this ridiculously cold space. He knew he needed to contact the Tachibana clan about what they had found, but that could wait. Right now he needed his rest.

As Nobuyori attempted to sleep his partner quickly began analyzing the sword they had recovered. In spite of it's age, the blade itself was in remarkably good condition. Kire would be able to easily examine the steel blade. While not as good as modern crafting techniques with science backing them up, it was quite clear that whomever made this sword could be considered a master. The blade had almost no dullness to the edge, and the wave pattern across it's sides was exquisite.

While the future lord of Omi couldn't appreciate it, Kire would be able to tell just how much effort went into this blade. If Tachibana Muneshige had commissioned it for his late wife, he held nothing back. Neither would the craftsman who made the blade. To match the beautiful weapon, only a single sword was carved into the base of the steel "Genchiyo".

Unfortunately it would be impossible to tell if the sword was a relic or not, but one thing was clear, they had recovered something priceless. The swift return to the Bugei was clearly warranted.

Kire was getting tired. The hot shower had reinvigorated him for a time but it was never going to last, and it certainly wasn't going to last against the onslaught of cold on this train. It was weird, he just couldn't get warm. He hiked the blanket tighter around his shoulders while he examined the sword. Taking it apart was easy, but still tedious. After all, he didn't want to damage the thing. He had to be very careful.

God, if he made a habit of being impressed by other people's work, well, he would certainly be amazed at this one. It really was the work of a master. He carefully raised the blade to the light to examine its edge. And he had to be careful because the edge still remained even after so long underground. For it to last this long, well, he felt pretty sure he could manage to make a weapon with that much longevity, but only pretty sure.

There was no real marking in it, only the name Genchiyo. That alone didn't confirm its authenticity but there were a lot fewer doubts about it in his mind now." He pulled out a small glass to look closer at the etchings as well as the rest of the blade. In all honesty, the blade was beautiful, but Kire didn't give much of a thought to its weilder, far more interesting was the craftsman. Was it the man reported, some master smith of the time, did he pass the work off to an assistant.

That was quite likely for the time. Let the students make the blades, the master would finish them. Or he wouldn't. There were signs for such things, usually by the signature of the smith, but Kire wasn't finding that yet. Perhaps it was hidden inside the sheath, or carved on some other hard to disassemble piece of the blade. Well, he didn't have the tools to go much farther here on the train. That would take a full workshop and many hours. Shame, but at least he could be sure that they hadn't completely wasted their time. Though he felt sorry for the poor souls who would be sent after them for the armor.

Kire began the careful task of reassembling the sword. His work had sort of distracted him from the biting cold. If he was less charitable, and he certainly could be, he might wonder if the cold was being given off by the sword itself. But artifacts didn't do stuff like that on their own, so it was probably just pointless finger pointing.
