“They may help in that,” she commented toward Kura while Bu babbled on in some self righteous passion for the motorbikes. Mika tried to tune the girl out while silently shifting lead to them now that they no longer were the bumbling idiot moments before. No need to get caught up in idols when the Ghost Rider before them wasn’t anything of the high praise.

She folded her arms briefly to glance at the time on her phone as Bu took steps ahead of them to allow some air between her and Karu. Mika wasn’t too fond of Karu but having a human face to speak to was a vast improvement than the suit. “Remnants of something or other,” she shrugged to Karu. Bu’s attitude, poor family, and something about that rabbit biker coat they wore hinting at other things not shared in their sob story at the club. “Something about your vigilante work would make them better for a detective that can keep them in line.” Mika shared a sample of her thoughts of Bu, the things Bu could do some real work in than a pathetic voice acting tool.

“I am aware and grateful Ajibana allows this much. Aren’t you?” She muttered and followed Karu soon after into the den of mechanical wonders, or a metal sweatshop by any other name.

The garage was a wonderful place, the smell of exhaust, oil, and more was one that reminded Bu of better days, she enjoyed spending time here. But less interesting were the school's fleet of cars and the staff vehicles. No, the real treasure room was the shop on past the garage. Mika was saying something under her breath but it probably wasn't important. There was always some vaguely disapproving vibes when they talked. She was basically pure noble, a girl raised like that wouldn't understand.

Bu led them on and through, into the club room. It was surprisingly neat and tidy in contrast to Bu's normal conditions. Tools were put on hooks and in order of size, pieces of machinery were all zoned off, generally in a circle of blue tape on the floor, and the tool boxes were paced neatly against the wall. That wasn't to say it was clean. The floor was stained with various oils and other fluids from years of car use. While the place had come down in the earthquake, the foundations had remained strong. Though that wasn't saying much for what amounts to a concrete slab poured onto the ground. "Ta-da." She held her hand out like a magician presenting a trick.

"Gotta keep the club room clean, helps avoid losing tools which are hard enough to replace without digging into our nonexistent school budget." Bu nodded at the few people working in there already. One was working on an actual bicycle, and the other had a small car engine set on blocks. Bu walked over to one of the workbenches, there eren't any parts in this area, just a lot of papers folded up and a book of parts for sale. "This is my area."

As they walked Mika muttered
“I am aware and grateful Ajibana allows this much. Aren’t you?” to which Karu nodded firmly.
"Yeah, this is better than the alternatives." she agreed. Mika didn't seem super happy, not that Karu could blame her given that Mika had pretty much been ordered to play babysitter to both her and likely Bu, but even so Karu was glad Mika was around. At least she could talk to Mika and Bu, instead of three walls and a cell door. As she entered the workshop she could clearly smell oil and metal, as well as burnt plastic. This was clearly a workshop for people who loved machinery. However, at the very least, it was organized.

"Ta-da."
Bu said happily as Karu looked around. From the looks of things the club really wasn't a place people hung out at, and felt more like a workshop that just a few people used. Clearly Bu hadn't been joking about the lack of membership after all. Though right now a few people seemed to be hanging around working on various projects, so it was certainly a start.
"Not bad at all." Karu said as she looked at the various projects blocked off.
"Huh...a two block engine wi-" and then stopped and looked at another project.
"Wow that bike looks like the newest mo-" then stopped as below her foot a wet splash was heard from her stepping in a spilled puddle of oil. Taking a long sigh and exhaling, smiling while doing so, the mood on her face hinted at a lot.
"I haven't been in a workshop like this in quite a while. Not since a little before that night I met you both. This is nice, to be back in a place like this." she then looked straight at Bu.

"Alright, I'm ready. tell me all about your project bike." her eyes clearly shimmering with a creative curiosity and refreshment she hadn't felt in a long time. Though as Karu looked she didn't see a bike at all. Bu just seemed to go to a vast amount of papers stacked on a desk. Blinking a bit the red head turned to Mika first then slowly back to Bu.
"I thought I came here to work on a bike?" she more said than actually asked.

“Blueprints. Maybe.” She gave a guess while keeping more to herself once in the confines of the workshop. The moment she entered inside to the grease money pit was she winded up tightly to avoid touching anything in the room. Literally anything and everything a dirt and oil smugged mess work. Her form stood out a bit too much in color contrast and lack of staining. If Mika were to perform a dust check on the air, she could swear her hand may get covered in something foul like in the abandoned building. Like that building before, there wasn’t any avoidance in skipping out.

While Karu admired the work projects left drying and in the open, Mika searched for anything remotely clean to sit on. Bu would go into great lengths again on her dream bike or whichever that having a pleasant chair would lighten the load. Mika drifted to stations like a ghost in search of an unused and less oil covered seat. Each one dashing her hopes of pain drippings to having found one as a work block station. Use a desk! The noble scolded in vain of another chair wasting away to becoming a filthy piece. After each offending furniture piece failed to meet her expectations, Mika resorted to using a bound up pile of workorder catalogs. She moved her scarf and spreaded out a napkin to cover the stack before taking a seat for this mechanical lecture.

"No, you came here to prove to me that you weren't locked up pin a cell at the bottom of a mountain or executed for exposing the corrupt center of the Metsuke for what they really were." Bu said casually. "And you weren't so you're here and that's a good thing." She still didn't put it past the Metsuke to do it in the future. "Ah do hope this can become a regular thing, visits like this." The world owed the Ghost Rider a medal, not some jail cell. But Bu wasn't in charge, the underhanded had their way and the pot was stirred by fingers of greed.

She unrolled several pieces of paper and pinned them in place on the desk. These were blueprints drawn with incredibly exact penciling and measurements down to the micrometer. Any classmate of hers would be amazed at the precision and work that had gone into it. A teacher would be even more annoyed at her lack of attention in her regular classes. For Bu, though, this was something that mattered. With that tacked down, she pulled out a sheath of papers that had been bundled together but also were divided into smaller groups by paper clips.

"So Ah pretty much have saved enough money for my bike parts, but Ah gotta order them. Don't want any cheap stuff or off the rack, my bike's gotta be custom." She handed the papers to Karu. They were parts and pieces of bikes for sale cut from manufacturer books. The paper clips separated them by part, all the engines together, the handlebars together, all the way down to the kickstand and seat covers. She'd obviously put a lot of work into narrowing things down. "Kinda hoped you could help me out. Ah need a bike that can both carry about six hundred pounds without too much extra strain on the structure and can withstand a pretty nasty crash. Any of that stuff stand out as a good choice?"

She had chosen a lot of her choice on sturdiness and power. A quick start was nice, but Bu didn't expect to be using the bike to win any races. She also didn't expect to make any tight turns, so slamming into things or even using her artifact to stop the bike hard was a factor. Hence even more sturdiness. The only part she really hadn't been able to figure out was how much she weighed when she stoned up. She weighed herself before and after her arms went stony and tried to do some math but it didn't feel accurate. She aimed for safe side of higher and rounded up to six hundred pounds.

Karu noted Mika's actions of setting up a makeshift chair for herself as Bu gave a surprisingly frank response
"No, you came here to prove to me that you weren't locked up pin a cell at the bottom of a mountain or executed for exposing the corrupt center of the Metsuke for what they really were." the girl couldn't help but bust out laughing, a small tear coming to her eye that she had to wipe off due to how much her sides hurt.
"Oh, man, if Ajiban heard you that he would throw a fit. hahahahahaha." she laughed even more until finally standing back up straight.
"Ok, bu really, what is all this?" she asked. In response Bu explained her ideas for a bike and handed over the parts she wanted. As Karu flipped through the various pieces she kept looking up at Bu as though she was crazy. This would be a clash of two very different riding styles.

"Um, why not just get a van?" she asked bluntly as she held up pieces of Bu's blueprint collection.
"I mean, yeah, you could make this, but you aren't going to be winning any races or anything with. It will have power sure, but it wont go as fast as a normal bike should, and might as well be called a horse more than a bike." in her mind a bike needed as much speed as possible. Something small, and quick, to get away from people or to get to your destination.
"A bike should be fast, get from point A to point C in ten seconds ya know? This thin sees more like a metal work horse." she declared as she handed the specs back to Bu and crossed her arms. It wouldn't certainly go faster than walking though, or likely even a van, but Karu wasn't about to give up that point to Bu.

"Oh, and on a side note, I'm part of the metsuke now." she said, almost like an afterthought more than anything else.

Mika smoothed out her dress and sat in a personal bubble of cleanliness. To occupy her time as the rider moved closer to Bu’s side, cobfirming that her guess of it being a blue print, she tapped away at pictures to delete ones she grew tired of or make copies to edit with light shadings and crop. No thanks in how loud the two were talking, Mika tried to bury herself in her phone as they two shared ideas.

Thanks to their voices did Mima continue to keep track of them even when her eyes kept to her phone. Bu wanted something of an ox of a bike if one can call it a bike at all. Weight and speed tossed for impact resistance when confused even Mika on not just its weight but the justification on the bike getting slammed into walls. How could it even hit a wall when it can’t even drift? It may be due to how the bike won’t handle turns very well at all which leaves it more to be the slowest unit in the field. Her feels for light and airy found this cow of motor oil to be that.

“What do you plan to achieve with this set up?” She asked rhetorically but loud enough to be heard inbetween Karu and Bu’s banter. Mika just couldn’t find a realistic purpose to justify the bike into service when even a full grown Hokkaido raised heifer could out run it by trotting.

By had to roll her eyes, it was like she was the only person looking at the big picture. But then, she knew her own limitations better than everyone else, even if she pushed those limitations more than was healthy. “Well for one, Ah don’t want a van. Which frankly should be reason enough.” Her voice was filled with disdain for the very idea and as her agitation grew, her accent got thicker and she felt the prickling of stone wanting to grow on her arms.

“A horse can’t handle that much weight suddenly dropping on its back even if horses weren’t the worst.” She shook her head vigorously and tapped the blueprints with one finger. It might not be ten seconds but a bike this powerful should still easily outpace any filthy animal, especially when it’s only got little old me on it.”

“An acceptable bike, like that metsuke number, probably is specced for up to 350 pounds, that’s conservative to protect the manufacturers so let’s throw ten percent before we notice the drop in handling and acceleration. 385, I feel pretty good that with a brand new engine with a few custom adjustments, rather than an old junker ten years past it’s prime, Wouldn’t be bothered by the 155% increase in weight. The issue is making a strong enough frame but it can be done, though that will boost the bikes dry weight.” Math that Bu would never do in class solved itself in her head instantly.

“So you have this monster bike and me, on a straightaway, Ah won’t jump off the starting line but my max speed is gonna compare to anyone else’ our on the road.” Bu turned to Mika, “And the purpose, if it wasn’t obvious, is to have a bike that Ah won’t have to replace every time Ah use my relic.” Bu folded her arms. She had expected discussion, criticism maybe, not outright dismissal.

“Ah won’t beat a custom rocket but Ah bet Ah could smoke a dealer sports bike with my set up. And then, went shit goes down and whatever scum Ah’m chasing pulls a gun, Ah can go full stone badass without worrying about the bike splitting in half or stopping dead. And once Ah’m going over a hundred, turning will be a problem if Ah’m full stone so it’d be better to just lock in place for a manual brake and force the turn. So even more strain on the bike’s body.”

As Bu carefully explained her plans Karu understood a lot more than she had at first. Bu wasn't planning on having full weight on the bike at all times. She was also apparently a fully Earth related scion. What Bu wanted was a bike that, in theory, could support a maximum weight. She didn't actually want to put that weight on the bike all the time. It made sense in it's own way. It was also good that Bu was realistic about the Bike's speed, especially with full weight.

"Frame is one thing, but we will also need to focus on the engine and ventilation. No matter what bike, at max weight and speed, it will just melt itself under you." Karu said with a simple shrug and looked back over the blueprints. Now that she understood what Bu was going for she could actually help. She thought about Bu's bike and came up with an issue.
"The problem is where the put the engine. In the back it can be shot out easily if you are fleeing. Put it too much in the middle and it will just head up the whole bike. Also, if you don't let it vent enough and incase it with too much stuff, it will just burn itself out." she explained and looked over Bu's idea for an engine.
"Maybe frame really is the most important thing here." she was half talking to herself, but couldn't deny that Bu was right. For various reasons, the frame and body would be everything.

Karu felt bad for Mika just hanging around to watch over her, but she also figured the sooner she could help Bu out the sooner she would go, thus leaving Mika to no longer have to baby sit. At least that was her theory anyway. She also felt slightly upset that neither of them seemed shock over her declaring that she was now a metsuke, though she wasn't about to let them know that.

Mika tilted her head upwards while messing with a color slider going from warm ro cool. A rock Scion or just earthy made her wonder if that’s why she didn’t like Bu so much or just another aspect to. A human golem of sorts with weight problems. Doesn’t sound like there is much control on their part either. How sad. She turned back to her phone to slip ridicule to texting Ajibana. That old grandpa should be close, in theory anyway.

Mika: In garage. Cycle work.
Have they been doing okay as a mentsuke?

She sent this off and awaited on a reply. It didn’t surprise her too much that Karu became a mentsuke. There weren’t many positions of security in the setting after going rouge. Hopefully they weren’t giving the man too much trouble, Mika thought while eyeing Karu in silent judgement then hide in her phone in this stuffy room.

“Anyone requiring a drink?” She asked for an excuse to get up more than anything.

"Now you're catching on." Bu said, it was about time. She looked at her blueprints again. The engine could go in the back or middle of the bike. Depending on where it was, that would change her sitting position. She'd seen some bikes with their engings more central, they tended to make the rider sit leaning back. There was something slick about that but she also really liked the forward lean. She felt more in control, less passive that way.

"Ah don't expect to be fleeing from anything. Chasing maybe, rushing to get involved certainly, but if Ah'm running from somebody with a gun, more likely they'll be aiming at my back than my bike." The exhaust was a problem too, air intake was important. She didn't need more burns on top of everything else. "But for the air, maybe some intake valves near the headlights, and along the sides here and here." She pointed to the sides on the cover of the fuel tank.

She paused at Mika's question and looked up. "No thanks, thanks for offering though." She turned back to Karu. "So the faster Ah go, the more cool air is hitting the engine. Still not great if Ah have to idle for awhile but Ah'll just turn it off for that."

“Anyone requiring a drink?” Mika asked politely. Karu turned to Mika. She had almost forgot Mika was here. The girl seemed bored but she was certainly being polite. She also clearly wanted an excuse to leave for a bit. Understanding how she must feel Karu wasn't about to keep her around if she didn't want to be. Especially after Bu declined.
"Thank you for the offer. I would like some water please. Preferably with lime or cucumber if the school has any." she said politely. After all the summer heat was starting to come to the city. Being in a workshop also wasn't helping.

Giving Mika a reason to depart she turned towards Bu.
"Its fine if you don't PLAN to retreat. But lets say you have to. You need to at least be ready for something like that." she suggested.
"As for intake, don't keep them at the front. You might bring in too many bugs that way. Go for the sides. Bugs will move away from the front or smash into the front, but its unlikely bugs will fall into the vents if they are on the side. Oh, on that note, light wipers. You should get some. I kept wishing I had them on my bikes." She also wish she had a small one on her helmet but she wasn't about to admit that much.

Meanwhile Mika would receive a text shortly after from Ajibana.
"Thank you for the update. 1/2" it said simply. However, shortly after, a second text arrived. It was clear Ajibana still wasn't use to texting anyone.
"Mikaru is doing well. She is stubborn." it read. It had a small 2/2 on the bottom. It wasn't a natural part of the text system, it was clearly just something Ajibana had decided to use to show his different statements or texts.

"Noted," Mika closed her phone and got up with a dismissive note toward Bu while getting up to find some water and a bit of tea for herself. It didn't seem like the two weren't going anywhere in this pow-wow of cycles and Bu's dream tank to hold a golem. Proper training could alleviate whatever issues the girl had but she wasn't going to scold them in front of Karu or ever.

They can rot in their failure when the time passes.

Mika thought darkly and left the workshop with the door hardly making a sound on her departure. The minor things the Infiltration track hints away at minimal levels. She stood outside a moment to breath the less stuffy air before finding a vending machine. They're always on every floor and vaguely near by. Already it was decided in her mind to get Karu plain water. Her task couldn't afford her to run off the whole school in search for some flavored water our of good favor so whatever she found, that's what they're getting.

They seem well adjusted. Bu gets what she wants. Typical.

The girl continued her storm of sour thoughts for going this far for that ungrateful idiot of a punk girl. Mika would continue to hate them most for that evening wasted as much as she loathed the students who pawn on her company for drinks for their cheap ass low life boyfriends. Feeling a need to vent a little, she took her relic brush and started drawing angry eels along the wall. The brat didn't care and neither should the teachers and officials that catch her since it'll disappear after awhile anyway. The lines acted like steel braces to the wall as it hung and dripped slowly to the floor as she arrived at the vending machine.

Looking at the glowing plastic and selection of buttons, Mika just scowled in displeasure to find the items Karu requested after all right next to the club soda. It really did seem like other people will be getting their way today. Putting her relic away to get her coin purse, she dropped 400 yen and collected her goods before her phone hummed. "This long?"

Holding the drinks under her arm to find her phone, the texts from Ajibana was enough to have her smile briefly. The effort he tries to text was laughable and the limited brief messages made her think he must be keeping a very early model with limited character spaces. He could honestly use an upgrade in this lifetime.

Mika: Currently they talk about bikes and Bu's plans of a heavy set one. Karu sounds interested in the project. Preoccupied.
Surprising that approval for them into being a mentsuke came swiftly in a few months.

"Yeah, Ah guess." Bu replied as Mika left the two of them to talk shop. "Ah just think that with the rest of the stuff in the way and all that, anyone chasing me is going to be shooting at me. Or my tires, doncha know. Nothing Ah can do about that. No way Ah'm gonna be able to afford any France self inflating or solid rubber tires. Though if Ah could, Ah would. That would help with the handling and grip when Ah go heavy."

Bu looked over her designs and plans again. Intakes on the side would be a bit better, though to funnel air better they'd need to be somewhat pointed forwards. Maybe a thin mesh could go on them to keep out larger bugs, or at least shred them down to an easy to clean film on the engine. The windshield wiper was an idea too. She'd never really considered needing one, making do in the past with a rag. But this was not looking like the sort of bike she'd be sitting upright on, definitely a forward leaning model.

Bu glanced around, it seemed Mika was actually gone completely. This might be a good time to bring up a more sensitive subject. Mika was alright, as far as students went, but she had the heir of nobility which spelled snitch sometimes. "Hey Kari, Ah no what it's like to get drafted by the man. Odd as it seems, Ah'm in the same boat as you, though maybe Ah've outlived my usefulness now that the rebels are gone." She looked down at her plans then her gaze slid to her ow hands, then the circular burn scar on one palm.

"Just don't forget why you did it at the start. Some reminders are more obvious than others. Ah don't know why you went around exposing crimes, but don't forget what put you on that path. Metsuke might shift things around, might give you a new motivation, but we all got to remember our first step. That's part of the rabbit code."

In another part of Edo Ajibana looked at his phone, cursing a bit under his breath. It felt like every time he poked one button, a character from a completely different button would appear on screen. He had to delete and re-enter letters over and over until he finally got the message to say when he wanted. Looking at the response from Mika he nodded a bit. After all, she wasn't wrong. Trying to text back he put his first message with a small glare at the phone for it's texting issues.
"Metsuke while on parole. No relic, no authority. 1/2" he sighed, hating his limited texting ability. Everyone else seemed to text so easily, but he wasn't that kind of person.
"She wanted Justice. She did it wrong. I asked personally to be caretaker. 2/2" it must have seemed odd. After all, Ajibana had always been clear that justice prevailed over everything and the law was absolute. However, he wasn't able to stop the injustice within the organization that he himself was in charge of. In some ways he felt indebted to that girl who had been wronged by his own organization and couldn't bring himself to agree to her imprisonment or execution.

Meanwhile back in the bike shop Bu spoke of her own life and the fact that her and Karu had both been forced into helping the Shogunate. Looking at Bu for a good while Karu chuckled a bit.
"I thought rabbit code was eat grass and breed a lot?" she said with a smirk and looked around carefully. Bu was definitely a slick one for waiting on Mikazuki to leave. Turning to Bu, Karu poked her forehead.
"It isn't exactly like that. They wanted to execute me, but said I took down corrupt metsuke, so they couldn't. Instead they planned to throw me in jail forever. Then the old man showed up and said that he was dragging me off into protective custody." she said, laughing a bit and remembering how confused she was. She was in prisoner clothes, with no relic, or wallet, or anything, about to be thrown into Edo's famous Kurai Kumo Prison. The prison that no one was usually allowed out of after they got put in.

"They almost threw me into KKP, ya know? Then Ajibana showed up with an edict. It was signed by him and he said I was a metsuke now. No relic, no weapons, just a patrol officer. Five years of service or jail." she then opened her pockets and showed she had no gear on her what so ever, then lifted her leg to to show her tracker.
"Shit, better than being in prison though. The old man said I was lucky. The earthquake and Ikko attack left the metsuke short handed. He said that was the biggest reason." she didn't believe him though. Ajibana was a strict, old man. Though he seemed like he honestly wanted what Karu wanted, justice. Justice for every single person in Edo regardless of rank or position. It was something that Karu really respected.
