Sengoku Horizon

Look towards the Horizon

The Warring States Period: Fierce warlords fought for control of Japan, and many would perish. When a warrior falls, where does the passion they once held go? Possibly into something dear such as a favorite weapon or heirloom. These heirlooms have been labeled as “relics”, and those that carry them are labeled as “Scions." Recently more and more of these special relics have been activating, signaling the start of a great change as ancient power meets the modern world!

Now For The Local News, 7/10/2017 A blood red summer has come. As the Edo Bugei students finish facing off with the ikko forces all across the nation a massive steel ship floats towards Edo Harbor. The final battle between the Ikko Ikki rebels and the Edo Bugei students is about to begin. The lingering question now, just how much of Edo will be left standing once the battle ends?

Kurome kept all her focus on attempting to dodge his attacks, dance through his dodges, and attack him all at once. The vibrating armor was depleting her energy rather quickly, despite her attempting to save it. This battle was not in her favor. Kurome looked away for a second too long, and suddenly she was hurling through the air. She landed with a thump on the ground on her back, her staff laying to her right on the ground next to her.

"I see. This vibrating armor wont do much good against you now that you've figured it out will it?"

Kuromed grunted and attempted to pushed herself into a sitting position, holding her chest. She wheezed, trying to get her breath back after that hard kick, and coughed. Blood splattered onto the pavement beside her. The kick had knocked the wind out of her. The girl looked up at the man with such hatred in her eyes, that if looks could kill he would most certainly be dead. She watched as he removed his armor, showing his sleek ninja suit underneath.

"That gimmick armor was heavy anyway. Now prepare to die."

He charged at the girl in what looked like an attempt to cut her arm off, but Kurome rolled out of the way just in time for his weapon to cut into her own battle armor, knocking the back plate off completely. The girl stood up and wiped the blood from her face, then took a moment to remove her own armor, showing her normal fighting kimono underneath. She pulled her dominant arm free and tied the sleeve around her waist, then began to spin the staff around, twirling it between her fingers. She growled, and snapped it in half. Now Kurome had two short swords made from the bamboo of her pole staff.

The difference between his speed now and then was shocking, but so would hers. Kurome dashed to the side and seemed to disappear. It wasn't the shadows she was using, but merely her speed and all of the training she had recieved through the years. She would make her dad proud.

She hoped she would live long enough to tell him.

The girl 'appeared' again, this time on his other side. She crouched low and, with one hand, she swung right, in an attempt to slash his legs below his knees. A fraction of a second before that move was completed, with her other hand she swung upwards and to the left, in an attempt to slash his torso. The move in total would look like she was swinging in an x shape.

Hopefully that would at least injure the fox masked man. Kurome knew she was no match, but if she could hold him off from the others until help came, maybe they had a chance. He was ruthless, otherwise, and Kurome knew it .

((I had to ask bf how to attack this guy lol he came up with this move.))

How strong are you? How strong do you have to be? The world wasn't fair, it wasn't just. Every second she spent here was proof of that. Bad things happened to good people and those good people turned bad. Then bad people like Bu did bad things too. Life was hard sometimes, you gave up some things. But you never backed down. She wasn't some wannabe who was afraid of serving her time. She hadn't come to this school because she was afraid.

Bu looked into a thousand eyes. No, this wasn't fear. She had sat there proud, stoic, prepared to take whatever punishment they wanted to dump on her for pulling the trigger. But just because she took a different offer, a different punishment didn't mean she was scared of consequence. Just because she'd taken his damn coin and explained to him every nasty, horrible, disgusting thing she would pay back tenfold on the innocent didn't mean she was scared, just a bitch. Just spiteful. Just another bad thing threatening to happen to good people.

Bad things happened to good people. Good people stopped being good. Pay evil unto evil, but Bu had never been one for half measures. She didn't really know when to stop. Pay evil unto evil, and then pay the interest to anybody left. She wasn't the good guy anymore, she was a vicious beast, but a beast who had been chained up, a junkyard dog. That scar on her palm was just her collar and tags. Pay evil unto evil with interest.

What the hell was that awful smell? Oh right, it was her. Yuck. But that didn't matter, she'd smelled worse, heck, she probably had smelled worse herself. Good joke, she'd have to remember that for the Rabbits. Her eyes cracked open. She hurt and her shirt had fallen off. That was kind of funny. The Rabbits would like that, pervs. Maybe she'd tell them that too. She kind of wished she could tell somebody at school though.

She hadn't known most of the people who had fought with her, died beside her. She'd find out their names after maybe. Too young to drink or smoke, but she might find a way and toast each one of them. They were probably good kids. Better than her, better than most of the Rabbits too. Good people. Head bowed where the ninja couldn't see, she smiled wide. Time to pay back some interest.

The idiots had charged. They saw weakness, they were like dogs. Unthinking, acting on instinct. But a cornered rat could be one of the scariest fighters and Bu always felt just a bit trapped. She straightened up, a mad glow in her eyes. Her arms hurt vaguely, her back hurt quite a bit. They'd probably hurt a lot more as they healed from the burns that killed off the nerves. But right now, it was about as bad as a nasty crash. It was nowhere near as bad as the night he left her or the night she'd been initiated and hazed into the Rabbits. That was real pain, this just hurt.

She stepped out of the pillar of rock as it crumbled away. The ninja had charged, committed and she was a big fan of commitment. Her arm shot up and caught the hand as he swung the sickle. Sizzling stone locked his hand and hers and the sickle only shallowly cut into her shoulder before she had it locked down. Her other hand came up into his face. But rather than a simple punch in the chin or a palm to the nose, Bu just grabbed his head and let the sizzling rock embed itself across his entire face. With all her strength, she twisted and pulled both of them to the ground. She brought her knee up and into his groin.

She'd have loved to get a good hit to the diaghram, knock the air out of the ninja, but considering the ninja's nose and mouth were buried under stone, it'd have nowhere to go. The real issue was that bother her hands were now taken up and the ninja still had one free. She just had to make sure that hand was focused on futilely trying to remove her magic cement rather than going for her less stony bits that no longer even had leather protecting them.

All their surroundings were engulfed in flame even as the students did their best to protect themselves. Relative safety had been achieved even as the smell of singed and burnt flesh and hair floated through the air. Immediately Kumori's mind tried to assess the damage done to her person. All of her limbs seemed to be working about as expected, though her left shoulder and right leg were in some pain. No mind. She could take that damage and keep fighting without missing too much of a beat. At least for now she could; the trio of ninja charging them with sickles might have an effect on that.

Yes her leg was in pain, but she could stand. If she could stand, if her arms could move, she could fight. And if she could fight she could kill these evildoers who profaned the land with their existence. The kami could not be pleased to have so much blood spilled on these grounds, let alone by nefarious souls whom killed the young. Victory was the only option. She pulled herself up to her feet, grimacing as she put weight on her burnt leg.

Her fellow student had taken the brunt of the blast, and was currently fending off an attacker. However he still had a hand free that could attack the girl if he were aware enough of his surroundings to realize it. Two others were attacking as well, so she knew what had to be done. Kumori first rolled a bit farther away and ahead of Bu so that she'd have a clearer path for her attack. As soon as she was in place, she touched Lady Oichi's hairpin again and snarled at the ninja.

"In the name of the kami, I purify this place from your presence!" she shouted as she slashed the air three times with her blade. Three glowing slash marks appeared in the air, hovering menacingly with a deeper red glow than in past uses. As Kumori recited prayers to the kami under her breath, the energized slash marks shot out at each of the remaining ninja.

Osore hobbled and fell to a knee, having tripped on a small lump on the ground. He used his cane to stand up as he walked fearlessly toward the sounds of fighting. The wind whipped his cloak as he tried to make his way through the battlefield, and as if adding to his mystical appearance, the third eye on his forehead opened. As he approached he overheard the words 'prepare to die', and quickly began his rhetoric again, trying to interject himself into the fighting. "The ruthless bloodshed between unnecessary enemies will only cause sorrow, no matter the outcome!"

As he approached combat, his fire spirits materialized from almost nowhere and positioned themselves defensively around him, circling at around chest height and ready to push him out of the way if something happened. They made strange whispers as they floated in a circular pattern around the young scion priest.

MUSIC IS HERE!

The three enemy ninja had been so sure of themselves. Between the fireball, and the ninja's series of attacks the three had been sure they could take down two damaged Bugei students. Now all three would never harm anyone again. As Bu trapped one in place and the other two jumped in mid-air none of them could dodge the three energy blades. The blades slammed into the stomachs of the three ninja as both Kumori and Bu would feel hurt and exhausted at this stage in the fight. As the three ninjas got bisected the clash was over. However, in the distance it was clear Kurome was dealing with a much larger problem than a few ninja.

Stepping into the side of the head ninja's attack Kurome did a double cut at his leg. Even a well trained enemy like the fox masked ninja couldn't dodge both attacks. Instead he quickly shifted his weight back to avoid the full force of both slashes, his leg being cut open but fortunately not as deep as Kurome had meant.

Jumping back the ninja threw five kunai at Kurome while jumping in the air to try and drop down on hard with a hard slash. In mid air he threw enough two kunai at Osore. Then, as he fell he suddenly disappeared in puff of smoke, appearing ducked under Kurome and doing a rising stab hard at her shoulder.
"Now die." he said in a low growl. He clearly wasn't amused as the floor around Kurome and the fox masked ninja had clear patches of blood on it.

As Kurome finished her attack, she was pleased that she managed to cut him. He wasn't so invincible after all. However, some of the blood splattered on her kimono and on her mask, causing her mask to look more threatening than normal.

She grinned as he jumped back and threw 5 kunai at her, then jumped into the air to throw more at her classmates that were in the other battle, that was now over. Good for him for not paying attention, because two of them missed, and she deflected two with her swords, however one of them embedded itself into the side of her torso.

A flash of white crossed her eyes and Kurome grunted loudly and exhaled, as he disappeared into a puff of smoke. She made a quick circle, looking around, and grimacing from the pain under her mask, when suddenly he appeared ducked below her, attempting to perform a rising stab.

She briefly wondered how he was able to kneel like that with a wound in his leg, before she saw his lunging move. She had no time to think, if she didn't react very quickly, she would be dead. She knew that if she died, the other students would not be able to defeat this fox masked man, she had to do something, quickly.

The eyes on her mask begin to glow. In the shadows around them, tendrils began to take form. These tendrils wiggled their way up to the fox masked man and grabbed a hold of his arms and legs, before he could cause damage to her. The fifth tendril grabbed his knife, holding it inches away from Kurome's heart. Kurome grinned and stepped back from the knife. The tendril wiggled it's way closer to her, and she took his knife and looked at him as he struggled against her shadow tendrils. "You know, your catchphrases really suck. Now die? That's the most creative you can get?" She giggled and then took a deep breath, grimacing under her mask, while she ran forward and attempt to slash at him with his knife.

Hopefully the students at Buegi would jump in soon, and the tendrils weren't going to hold him but for a few more seconds. This would at least give them the upper hand, especially since she was an elite.

Bu smiled wide, her teeth flashing the manic grin of somebody who was having far more fun than she ought to be. She looked him in the eyes through his silly little mask that was now covered in stone and suffocating him. Then something whistled by her and the light faded quickly from the ninja's eyes as his life blood poured out of him like a gushing torrent. Bu pushed herself up to standing and let the upper part of the ninja fall to the ground. "Damn. That didn't hurt at all." she growled.

Bu looked at her companion. "Was it good for you?" She asked and barked out a laugh. "You're still smoldering by the way." She shook her head the last few ends of her hair went out. God, she hurt all over, it was like when she went to a rally and forgot sunscreen. Oh well, that might make up for the pathetic showing these rebels were putting up. She looked off to one side and didn't see her chain anywhere. "Damn, lost my weapon." It had flown off when she threw it so it was either in the rubble or melted by the fire, either way, she wasn't going to bother. She could probably steal another one later.

For now, Bu looked toward the ninja, this one looked like a real fighter and another student was in trouble. Well, Bu liked helping out her fellow academy sisters. She knelt down as if to tie her shoes and pushed three razor blades from the hem of each pant leg. She slid them between her fingers and the stone grew around them. She looked at her fist with the blades sliding out and admired how nasty it looked. Still, no time for that, she had a brawl to win.

Bu charged toward the ninja currently being held by some magical thing or other. When s got to him, she was going to give him a good punch to the kidney, was that fair? Was it sporting to punch a man when he was trapped? God no, that's what made it funny. Besides, ninjas were cheaters anyway. Call it leveling the playing field.

Three blades of pure energy shot out with the fury of the Oda girl herself. All three not only hit their mark, but went straight through those marks. Typically Kumori would have tried to remain more reserved in battle; too much emotion could lead to mistakes. Mistakes couldn't be afforded in a tough fight. Today she was relishing in the feel of cutting down murderers and avenging fallen students. She would say prayers for them all once this battle was finished, but for now she was a weapon.

For a moment she stood there with her weapons drawn, tensed from the exertion which had destroyed the ninja attacking them. Her whole being ached with pain and exhaustion, but her spirit blazed on. Their job was not yet finished, so she would just have to keep on fighting. Thankfully her relic was doing its work in relieving some of the pain and limitations of the damage she'd taken thus far. Her companion spoke in a very casual manner - which, rather than upset Kumori, made the former shrine maiden laugh. She wasn't quite sure why, but it felt appropriate.

"It'll be better when the last of them is dead," she replied before studying the situation briefly.

One ninja remained locked in battle with Kurome, seemingly intent on finishing her personally. Unfortunately for him that focus wasn't going to help now that there were two additional Bugei fighters joining the fray. As Bu prepared her razor fists, Kumori quietly asked Lady Oichi and the kami to guide her blade. Even with a more aggressive mindset she still sought the approval and guidance each.

Given the struggle between the two before her the situation was to the Bugei students' advantage. How long that would remain the case was impossible to determine. Best to strike with what energy they had left, overwhelm the enemy with numbers and force. Her own speed burst wasn't going to last much longer, so best to use it now. Kumori surged forward with a feral growl, leaping into the air to attack from a different angle than Bu had chosen. Many attacks from many locations would make it harder for the foe to escape damage.

"Pay for your sins!" she shouted as she swung her katana downward toward the enemy's neck. Her wakizashi plunged downward as well, aimed where the enemy's eye ought to be.
