TODO, INORI of the Todo clan
HAIR:Dark brown and a bit messy overall despite the best efforts of many to keep it under control. Though it would fall to her chest if free Inori keeps it tied off in a side braid.
BODY TYPE: Slender as a storybook princess ought to be, with little in the way of the physical development some of her female peers have experienced.
STYLE: Though she comes from a clan known for their diplomatic role, Inori doesn't really care for formal clothing. It's just to stiff. She's much more commonly seen in casual clothes when not in uniform. Her wardrobe includes the girlish pleated skirts, blouses and sweaters her mother gave her and some unisex t-shirts and pants which she picked out for herself. She almost always wears a certain hair ornament which she will only say that 'someone special' gave her.
OTHER: Inori's face is very emotive and one call tell how she's feeling just by looking at her expression. She's not very good at hiding it, really. When thinking deeply she has a tendency to furrow her eyebrows. She's also notable for referring to herself with a masculine 'I' due to her mentor's guidance.
Personality: Inori is by nature a fairly happy person, prone to a hearty laugh or making jokes to add levity to whatever situation she's in. Thanks in great part to her mentor, she tends to think very highly of herself and her abilities. Thus she's not afraid to take risks and put herself out on a limb. Unless someone gives her a reason to believe otherwise she believes that people are good by nature and tends to trust easily. Fairly friendly around others and quite protective of friends, she tends to fit in fairly well these days (that itself is a miracle considering the past).
STRENGTHS: Apprenticeship under a Todo Clan samurai has made Inori courageous and willing to take a number of risks a lesser girl might not dare dream of. Additionally she's dedicated and strives to never leave a job unfinished, be it a mission, schoolwork or an outing with friends.
WEAKNESSES: Inori's personal growth hasn't been without some downside of course; her courage comes with overconfidence in her her abilities. It's not uncommon for her to overestimate what she can and can't do. In addition she is entirely too trusting of people, believing them to be good in nature until it's become very obvious they are otherwise. Thus she can also be described as gullible.
LIKES: Inori enjoys practicing martial arts of varying sorts, from kyuodou to aikidou and sees that practice as kind of pure in a way. On the flip side she does enjoy less combative things such as flower arranging and having coffee or tea with friends; anything that allows the expression of her full self and/or involves casual interaction with those close to her.
DISLIKES: She quite detests formal or stiff clothing, preferring freedom of movement to dressing to the nines. Inori also dislikes being manipulated or tricked, even though it's kind of easy to do sometimes.
AMBITIONS: Though she won't inherit the clan since her brother fulfills that role, Inori strives to live up to the example of their ancestors as warriors. As she recently lost her sister she also wishes to live up to Yuki's example and, if she's lucky, start up a family some day the way Yuki wanted to.

WEAPON: Inori's main form of combat is with archery, so her weapon is a yumi which has been used for three generations of Todo women. While not a relic it is still quite important in the clan's recent history. Along the grip are written the names of each woman to use it, with Inori's recently being added. Thanks to her training she's also capable of fighting hand-to-hand, preferring to use aikido to disarm and disable opponents rather than killing them.

• Mentor: Lady Suzume (Todo clan retainer, 27 years old)
BACKGROUND: Inori was born into the prestigious Todo clan with a twin sister just a year after her brother. In fact they were all born on the same day, which many within the clan saw as being a good omen. While her elder brother was trained to be a role model and a responsible young man, the two girls were raised to be clan princesses. As they grew up the pair developed different personalities and interests. The more social Yuki was quite feminine and interested in avoiding confrontation and working with others; she was just the kind of princess their mother had wished to dote on. Inori was a precociously shy girl who was always holding her siblings' sleeves or hiding behind them.
To remedy this Todo Hiroaki asked one of the clan's most promising young samurai to mentor Inori. Though his wife disapproved of Suzume, the samurai and child instantly bonded. After the first heart-to-heart talk between them Inori and Suzume were inseparable. Inori began martial arts training under Suzume and found she really had a talent for it as well. Despite occasional protests from Lady Todo about it Inori continued to train, continued to develop her abilities and slowly enough emerge from her shell.
After her brother headed to Edo Bugei, Inori struggled to find her identity at first. Thanks to Suzume she managed to complete her transformation into the girl she is today. Her mentor always reinforced that a lady asserts herself, is proud and bows before no challenge. Eventually her parents decided to send the twins to Edo to attend schools in the city. Yuki went ahead of Inori and fell victim to the Great Edo Earthquake (as Inori calls it). Rather than continual mourning, Inori decided she would honor Yuki's memory by trying to be more like her.
This has meant attempting to balance her newfound confident self with the more ladylike behaviors Yuki was known for. She's still figuring out what that might look like, but there's been bigger news to deal with of late. For the sake of safety and on recommendation from Lady Suzume, Inori has been accepted into Edo Bugei.. the same school as her brother.
