Look towards the Horizon

The Warring States Period: Fierce warlords fought for control of Japan, and many would perish. When a warrior falls, where does the passion they once held go? Recently more and more of these special relics have been activating, signaling the start of a great change as ancient power meets the modern world!

Now For The Local News, 7/10/2017 A blood red summer has come. As the Edo Bugei students finish facing off with the ikko forces all across the nation a massive steel ship floats towards Edo Harbor. ~The Story Thus Far~

Spring had come. Last fall, the Shogun, military ruler of all Japan, was nearly killed. On the yearly pilgrimage to the Tokugawa shrine of Nikko-Toshogu. As the shogun arrived to pray to his ancestors numerous Ikko monks attacked the Shogun, his family, his samurai guard, and the Edo Bugei students. Many of the students had been grievously injured and the wounds they received had barely been given time to heal over winter. The apparent leader of the Ikko sect was a former elite assassin and the predecessor to the elite student Izuki Kai. The silver haired leader of the Ikko declared that once spring arrived the Ikko would destroy the Shogunate, and slaughter every samurai they could find. In the minds of the Ikko this is a holy war to take back the country from the Samurai and turn Japan into a holy land for Buddhists, with the country controlled by the various heads of the Buddhist sects. This will be the first official war the country of Japan has seen in 157 years.

~At Present~

A few weeks after the spring season had come the Edo Bugei students had all been summoned to Edo Bugei's auditorium. The atmosphere was extremely tense as Headmaster Hoskawa stood at the front of the stage. To his left stood the various head teachers of Edo Bugei, and to his right stood various high ranking Tokugawa Samurai, Kenji and Hideyoshi included. The headmaster stood in full samurai armor. The armor most students knew was usually set up as decoration in the corner of his office. His head piece was off so he could be clearly understood as he addressed the students.
"I expect everyone to be quiet and listen. Most of you know why you are assembled here today, so I will keep this brief. In the Autumn season the Shogun, military leader of our country, was nearly assassinated by the Ikko sects. They then declared war on all samurai and said in the Spring all samurai would be killed, and our country would turn into a sea of fire and blood. We are samurai, our duty is to serve the Shogun. We do not sit idle, we do not wait to die. We fight!" with the headmaster's shout various students yelled out in agreement and raised fists in unison with his words.

"Over winter, the Iga-ryu have not rested. Trying to take the life of the Shogun is an unforgivable act. The shogunate has found various sites important to the Ikko's uprising. The students of this academy, along with provincial armies, Iga-ryu ninja, and other forces will carry out a blitz against the Ikko. We will not sit still, we will not wait for the Ikko to come to Edo. This decision is not made lightly. For a samurai to murder a holy man is an act of treason against every morale law. However, when the Ikko swore to kill every samurai in the land, they stopped being holy men and became a plague upon our land. This is not a war against the Buddha, it is a war against those that would twist Buddhism into something vile, and pledge to take all of our lives." the words sunk into the crowd like a heavy weight. Since birth every samurai in the crowd would be taught that warriors and monks came from very different social classes. Buddhist monks had removed themselves from war, politics, and the world as a whole to find religious guidance. This situation was different. The Ikko had chosen a path that directly threatened the existence of Japan's social order.
"I will now explain every student's roll in the upcoming war." and with that the screen behind the headmaster lit up as much like in the past various missions appeared. A group of ten students stood at the front of the room with tablets for students to sign up for the various missions that appeared on the board. Many of the missions would quickly be filled by various students, leaving only a handful left for those who hadn't directly rushed the stage to sign up out of battle fervor.

~Mission 1: Attack!~

An Ikko fortress had been found outside of Osaka. Since ancient times the area had always been a place the Ikko monks settled in. This was due to the various holy sites in the area. The large ikko fortress wasn't a known Buddhist temple but had apparently been made as a staging ground for an assault on both Osaka and Kyoto. The mission had various warnings about the extremely large troop numbers the Iga expected the monks to have.
1. Hakiyo Shiki
2. Tokugawa Jun
3. Tokugawa Kenji
4. Shiba Carmine
5. Kuki Yuriko

~Mission 2: Defense!~

Two clans made up the majority of the Shogun's military might. The Maeda and the Honda clans. The Iga had discovered a vast marching army heading towards the Maeda clan's city of Kanazawa. It was expected to be a bloody battle and the entire city of Kanazawa from the Maeda's castle down to the most basic of civilian facilities was at risk of being destroyed. The Uesugi army was already on the march towards Kanazawa to aid in the effort.
1. Okada Mirai
2. Yuubae Suishoku
3. Azai Nobuyori
4. Kadowaki Nao
5. Hattori, Yuna

~Mission 3: Infiltration!~

A possible Ikko base is found in the Mori clan's territory. The mori clan have always been under suspicion of wanting to topple the Shogunate. The role of the Bugei students would be to sneak into the area and try and assess the situation. Even the Iga-ryu was having issues infiltrating as it appears enemy ninja occupy the area and have been clashing with Shogunate forces.
1. Huzaki Kurome
2. Izuki Kai
3. Morikawa Toshiyuki
4. Roshi Bento
5.

~Mission 4: Social!~

The city of Kyoto is in an uproar as various people say the emperor should side with the ikko monks and the people, not the corrupt samurai. The students need to head to Kyoto and find the people spreading these ideas. As well as convince the high court not to turn against the shogunate! It is also possible that if the court wont join the Ikko, then the Ikko may attempt to burn the city to the ground.
1. Sakiyama Toki
2. Tagami Yumiko
3. Honda Mikazuki
4. Uesugi Sayuri
5. Kobayashi Natsume

~Mission 5: Tactical Assault!~

A large pirate base, apparently aligned with the Ikko Uprising, has been found in the south of Ise Holy Province. Ise is an independent holy province full of Shinto monks that detest the act of war. Thus the pirates had apparently thought it the best place to hide a build up of forces. It is expect that from Ise they would sail towards either Osaka or Edo. They must be stopped at once!
1. Naya Rin
2. Saito Takuma
3. Uesugi, Mizuhana
4. Nene Sugihara
5.

"All higher level students are expected to sign up and fight! However, don't be foolish. We have organized the missions into various roles. Play to your strengths. You are samurai, but you are our students. Ever student should prioritize defeating the enemy, and returning to the grounds of the Bugei!" it wasn't a normal samurai order. Most samurai would glorify dying in battle. The headmaster was not such a man. His eyes looked at each and every student like a parents sending a beloved child to war. He had been alive long enough, and fought long enough, to understand that this was the first true war the country had seen in a long time, and that many of the students would not be returning alive.

(OOC: This is starting a few weeks into the spring. You can still have casual RP threads in the spring. They are just assumed to happen before this event. Also, any students not involved with the event will be assumed to have signed up for staying in Edo to prepare against a possible Ikko surprise attack. Please reply to this thread with what mission your character is signing up for in the form of an RP post with motivation for choosing that mission and thoughts about going to war.)

Hakaiyo Shiki: Mission 1 - Attack!

Finally, the time had really come. It had been a while... a few years, maybe. She'd get to live life as she was used to again. She'd get to taste blood, smell fear... find the true nature of mankind within the depths of the battlefields once more. There was no questioning it. The time of sleep was over, now the wolves would rise, to devour the fat sheep that had been lulling themselves into their despicable peace for so long. Finally, the world would start making sense again. Finally, she'd feel alive once more.

She didn't wish to remember for how long she'd been dead now, coddling this new life as if it was anything like what she considered actual 'living'. She'd made friends, yes and she treasured them... but it was like attempting to breathe life into a husk simply by breathing at it... unless the right engine was started, no kind of attempts would ever re-start life for this creation. For her too, it took a war to bring her back to life... fully that is. She'd feast... thrive on the new battles, the new purpose that fate had given her. She cared not for the country, the country was better off living in war than in peace either way.

Shiki cared for the people. She wanted to make sure they'd have a future worth looking towards and lifes worth remembering. What kind of liar did it take to consider banality valuable? What kind of purpose was in this dumbfounding ever repeating stakkato of days? It made her shudder to think that any person could think of this as normal. It was absolute insanity... the insanity of cowards, of weaklings too afraid to face life in all its glory. No wonder they cared so much about appearances. It was all that they were. Appearances, reflections... no proper humans at all anymore. But soon they'd be... or they wouldn't and even then they'd have a purpose.

As cattle, naturally. Time to bring the fight to them, pick our wolves and slaughter them along with the cowering mice. The hunters had come to claim their due..~ No matter how much she'd have to burn or butcher, she'd carve a bloody breach through the lines of whoever stood in her way. That was her purpose. Never would she stop... never, until her very body gave out beneath her. Finally... finally the calamity could be here once more. Shouten Douji, the Oni representing Destruction.

Hattori, Yuna: Mission 2 - Defense!

So it had really come this far, yes? What a pity, what a pity... of course she couldn't really say who was in the right or the wrong here. But did it really matter? She just wanted to protect those closest to her, which... sadly enough, was barely possible. She'd have to protect the little one, but she didn't know if he'd even be with her. She could not protect her family, because they would be scattered around, in the most unsave of locations, doing things she could never do herself. She was useless... utterly useless.

But she'd have to protect something, anything at all. Something they could all treasure, something they could all look back to without losing hope. She'd have to stand firm and support her extended family, all those people as best she could. She was a guardian, so she would guard... should they come! She'd not let her people just... die. No matter what. No matter the pain or the humiliation! She'd not hesitate to kill all those who sought to destroy the future she was trying to build for herself, nor those everyone else was striving towards.

They had no right... they had no right to take this from them. They had all suffered enough, they deserved a fulfillment of some sorts. Even if they would find it in this war...
But she didn't believe in this, she only believed in the lifes that surrounded her, as well as her opportunity to pay them back all the kindness they had shown. All the missed opportunities to hurt or shame her, all the kind words or pleasant teasings. All the lessons and manouvers, and the thanks given to her. She wanted to hear it all again, see it all again. What else was there to it...?

Her life was one of devotion, of servitude to those who deserved to live so much more than she did. War... war was the worst case scenario, because her large body meant that she would live where others would die, simply because she could not be everywhere. She should be... she really should be. But what could she do? What... what indeed? No, no- she'd have to FOCUS on the important ones. The most important ones, for her, for her future... for their future and the country's too. That would bring honour to her clan and joy to herself... as much as could be won from a disaster like this.

The day had finally arrived for the Shogun’s forces to act, it seemed like the whole things was well planned out which was funny considering the lack of concessions amount those in power. Yet this was nothing knew for it seemed that past always repeated itself and this nation was cursed by it. Hell, even the very nature of a scion was a curse of the past, and this situation would be no different. Those in power were simple reacting to another force yet reactionary measure would never fix the underlying problem or so Jun though at least. After all there were so many questions that need answering most that should have been answered before they acted. Sadly, that luxury was now lost and those sent to fight would be the ones that payed for it. As he stood in the crowd with Rin and Toki he looked on at all those that stood before him, he wondered if the pain that Hoskawa was shared by those that stood beside him especially Kenji and Hideyoshi. He assumed not as he doubted they had changed much since his departure, even now he doubted they even knew he was here. Ever since he had arrived he had avoided any contact with his relations only doing minor acts within the school, he wasn’t foolish enough to think this presence had gone unnoticed but clearly, he did not factor in to the Tokugawa’s plan. Which he was fine with for he was freely able to follow his own devices this way.
“Seems the crowds getting into it.” A snide comment from Rin as she clearly found the crowd’s bravado humorous.
“Most don’t realize there being sent to die.” Toki said in a flat tone clear he was having none of it.
“Still it’s a rather nice speech, very inspiring.” Rin was clearly aiming this at Jun, but he was ignoring her as the air of a holy war was still floating about regardless of what the headmaster said.

However, there was no time for such thoughts as the screen behind the headmaster light up with the mission details. Jun studied them as the other two waited for their commander to give them their assignments.
“Rin you’ll be going on Mission 5: Tactical Assault, help deal with the pirates but your priority is to gather information. We need to know how and why the pirates set up shop there and if possible find out about allegiances and such.”
“Understood.” Rin simply replied, for while she may be odd and whimsical person she was and excellent scout and hunter. Plus, her interesting perspective of the world should allow her to uncover the clearly odd and outside force at work here.
“Toki you’ll be heading to Kyoto to help out with Mission 4: Social there a good chance that it will be more then a diplomatic situation and your unique talents may be needed this go south, authorization got use any mean necessary.”
“Excellent.” Toki was perked now for this mean he could test and play with his new toys.
“as for myself I’ll be on the front lines and join Mission 1: Attack after all I’m much better at destroying then anything.
Rin chuckled at this for was the closest thing to humour she had heard from him in a long time. “What about the other assets boss should I contact them? ” Jun took a moment to consider this, for they would be a huge benefit but then again. “No, leave them on stand by, no need to show our hand yet. We should be enough to lay the ground work no need for them to see what we’re planning.”

With that the three when to their assign stations and signed themselves to their missions.
Jun Tokugawa – Mission 1
Rin Naya – Mission 5
Toki Sakiyami – Mission 4

It seemed that whole school was gathered in the auditorium; it was so full. Headmaster Hosokawa was dressed in full armor; Mirai wondered why that was. Whatever the reason, it certainly made him look impressive. He began to talk; his words were serious.

Several students around the assembly cheered and raised their fists, hungry for blood; Mirai did not feel compelled to join them. Mostly she felt sick that there were people out there trying to cause such widespread harm without (at least in Mirai's opinion) any justified cause.

And she agreed with what the headmaster said about Buddhism in relation to the monks - fundamentally, it was a religion about not hurting others, a principle which senseless violence violated without question. He was right: these people needed to be brought to justice for what they’d done and what they were yet to do. Did they deserve to die? Mirai didn't think so (she wouldn't have said anyone did) and the thought they were setting out to kill them didn't sit right in her stomach. Regardless, though, they couldn't just leave these Ikko to cause havoc and slaughter across the nation. While Hosokawa was citing reasons earlier to want the rebels done away with that involved pride as a samurai, Mirai was more concerned about stopping them to save lives rather than for honour.

Headmaster Hosokawa began to explain the various different missions that Edo Bugei students would be sent on as part of the war effort. After hearing all the missions, though, Mirai was a little unsure of what to do. She knew she wanted to help, to sign up and do her bit to help rid the country of those who would try to do its people harm, but which mission to sign up for was where her certainty ended. With her skillset, the only ones that made sense for her to sign up for would be the first or second mission, the attack or the defence one, but that was such a big decision that her chest felt tight, like she could barely breathe. There was so much risk in these missions, these real, honest battles; she could be hurt, she could even - and she didn't like the thought, so she didn't let it linger for long - be killed. And that made her just want to find some corner to hide in. But sitting back and waiting while everyone else chipped in wasn't exactly great either, and she did honestly want to do something to help. She could do some real good if she went out to the Ikko stronghold to help them destroy it. But then again, they needed forces to defend Kanazawa too. All of its citizens were at risk.

And that was when Mirai knew: the feeling in her chest loosened a little as a new wave of certainty swept through her. She would go to Kanazawa, where there were innocent people directly in danger, where she could help keep those people safe. She acknowledged that yes, the attack mission would save lives too in the long run, but there were people right now who needed help desperately and of course she wasn't going to leave those people to suffer.

Mirai strode down to the students with the sign up tablets to register her name. “I’d like to sign up for that second mission. The defence one. My name's Okada Mirai.” She gave a small bow, more just an inclination of the head than anything else. “Thank you.”

And with that, Mirai filed out of the auditorium. She had been planning on trying to fit in a little practice with her shinai following the assembly, but not anymore. Change of plans: Mirai would head to the school's training areas with her katana and her wakizashi. Instead of the usual kendo practice to whittle away the lingering tendrils of unease, she would do the same but with practice with her real weapons. She only had so long left to hone her skills as much as possible before she'd have to leave for Kanazawa, after all.

Winter finally melted away and it came to the part she dreaded she anticipated to come since last fall. During the break, as much as she returned home to greet the new years with her family, it ended on a grey note. She had to share with them that things will be difficult by spring back in Edo. No one was sure of what exactly to do about the coming spring but they wished her to be careful on the journey back to Edo. Thinking of their faces and the last things they gave and said to her, Suishoku kept her head down and fiddling with the side skirt of her uniform quietly to distract herself as the Principal came to deliver near truthful news of what happened and spur the other students of what will happen. Now the students who weren't part of the Higan-E escort had an idea of what happened to the Shogun a little bit more than the general news offered to the public. Their country is about to get unhinged by those scary zealous monks. Did the Castle think up anything? What about the other Lords that supported the Tokugawa? Suishoku worried that it was mostly be a direct attack on Edo at first. Her parents should be safe and away from the conflict if it all came down to Edoo but sadly found the speech to be the opposite.

They're not attacking Edo first!? Her head shot up to look around the crowd then back at their armored Principal. Rather, she still assumed the monk's goals were to attack Edo but orders from the Castle were to have them go outwards to where those Ikko are? She didn't like the idea one bit but could see the issues. Those people had all winter to figure themselves out around to spread around Edo while the people within Edo only thought of this one singular place. She too fooled herself into thinking her home in Kaga would be far removed from the issues of Edo but this wasn't the case.

Mission postings showed up on boards around the room giving quick summary of where the Castle needed their student soldiers to be. Her eyes scanned through each and where those future fights will be taken place. Osaka and Kyoto would be taking hits with missions into the Mori clan area. Not even the island of Ise was to be spared but that seeing the Maeda and the Honda clans listed with the expectations of Kanazawa had her sweat at the implications. This had to be a mistake! Both of Japan's high militant powers near Kanazawa? Just what sort of battle are they expecting there of all places!?

The girl moved for first register she saw and nearly grabbed the tablet out of their hands to read it more closely. The corners of her mouth were tight pressed while trying to process what was taking place. "Miss, calm down," the bearing spoke to her as Suishoku kept her eyes on the name Kanazawa. The tablet had to be taken out of her hands but her head kept downward with little regard to who else was around her. "If there is a mission you feel strongly towards then maybe it is best you sit it out." They advised the green Elite student but Suishoku shook her head and registered herself without a second thought. "It's fine. I...have things I must do there. My role included." She spoke rather gravely to try acting formal as how she thought an Elite was suppose to behave but her mind raced to think of what things were like back home right now; the things to pack, heading back home right away, not what preparations were needed for the mission.

After signing up for the mission, Suishoku walked away to try keeping to herself while her hands frisked around for her cell phone. She needed to call her folks to see if any arrangements were being done from the Maeda.

Azai Nobuyori and Tagami Yumiko. Two completely different people, walked into the room at the same time with the other students. Nobuyori was a stuck up noble and future lord of a province. Tagami Yumiko was a young poet girl who had recently lost her best friend and school crush. However today would bring the two of them closer than either of them would ever realize. As the two stood in the room they listened to the Headmaster's impassioned speech with very different feelings. Noubyori was ready. He knew it was time for war. He received a message that his father personally had returned from naval duty to his castle in Omi and was preparing the Azai army for war both at sea and on land. Clutching his hands into fists the young prince felt absolutely ready to strike down the Ikko that nearly took his life just a few months prior. Yumiko on the other hand shook with fear. Masumi had lost his life and now likely even more of the students would die in the upcoming battle.

As missions flashed on the board at the front of the room Nobuyori read them carefully. None of them seemed to be in Omi which helped him feel a bit more confident about his father's situation back home. However more than the missions coming up, the sight of Suishoku caught his eye. She looked shaken, and extremely upset as she almost grabbed the tablet for mission sign up directly out of someone's hands. It wasn't a side of her that Nobuyori remembered seeing. As Suishoku seemed to quickly sign up for a mission and then run away Nobuyori pushed through the crowd up to the same tablet. The same word that had caught Suishoku's eye caught his. Her hometown was directly in danger of an Ikko assault.

"Going directly after the country's military might. Way to show they are serious I suppose." he said to himself as other students seemed impatient behind him. Between assaulting the Shogun a few months prior and now directly going after the Maeda, Osska, and Kyoto it was clear that the Ikko meant this as absolute war against all Samurai. As events played out in the shrine Nobuyori's body shook a bit. Every mission they had been apart. In the earthquake they hadn't been together but Suishoku had saved his life. During the shrine battle Suishoku had been away from him and he couldn't help her as explosions rang out around her. Not anymore! He wouldn't let her go off alone this time! He couldn't let her go alone any more! He loved her, he had set his heart on that fact after the battle at the shrine, and he would never just let her go off without him again. Without a second thought he quickly signed up for defending her hometown with her before looking around. It was clear she was gone already. Handing the tablet to another student Nobuyori started texting his parents to let them know of his situation and walking off.

Meanwhile Yumiko was going through the same feelings Suishoku had. Her hometown, with her parents, was directly under threat of the Ikko monks. She couldn't fight, and still knew nothing of having a weapon. Still though, it was her city. She couldn't just refuse to go and leave her parents to die! Quickly she ran to a tablet and signed up for the mission to protect the Meada clan's territory. Seeing Nobuyori and Suishoku already signed up she blinked a bit. She understood why Suishoku was signing up. She felt that Suishoku must feel as upset as Yumiko. However seeing Nobuyori signed up surprised her a bit. Even with no missions in the Azai lands she didn't think the rumors about he and Suishoku had been that serious. He had literally signed up to possibly die defending her hometown. Looking around for either Suishoku or Nobuyori an emotionally unstable Yumiko couldn't find either. As the students she had taken the tablet from demanded it back Yumiko quicly handed it back and started to call her parents to tell them what was going on.

As Yumiko was turning to leave, however, a senior Bugei student stopped her.
Tagami Yumiko-san. The headmaster has requested you be sent directly to Kyoto." Yumiko's heart sank a bit as she looked at the board. Her name had in fact been changed to the Kyoto mission.
"w-WHY?! MY FAMILY IS UP NORTH!" she yelled but the senior student just shook his head a bit.
"The Shogunate sent a special list of students for specific missions. I'm sorry. You have been designated to be sent to Kyoto due to the Tagami family name." and Yumiko's face dropped. She looked like she had just been shot as she dropped her phone and started crying. The senior student gave a polite bow and said
"I'm sorry" before walking off. Just like that, Yumiko's choice hadn't been a choice at all.

Kurome was in the back of the room, leaning against the wall with her head down and her arms crossed as the headmaster addressed the school. Her elite band was pulled up proudly on her forearm. (Think, Tifa crossed with Auron.) She glanced up very briefly to make eye contact with him as she began to list off missions. She quietly responded her mind to each one. "No, no, yes, no, no."

Of course Kurome knew exactly which mission she would be apart of. The answer was as obvious as daylight. Mission 3: Infiltration. Kurome was good as masking the sound of her steps. She was swift, quiet, and quick. That made her a perfect pick for this mission. The girl lifted her head to look around the room as the tension grew. Some students appeared smug, some scared. She smirked. This was all apart of her training. She came to this school as as scion, and learned how to be apart of the military unit as much as the other kids who came here. She followed orders, didn't say no to orders when given orders, and performed her duty as expected.

Of course, now she had the added benefit of being a role model for the school. She was an elite student now. She had to show them she wasn't scared (she wasn't), and that she was wiling to die for the school, and the county (she was.) So, the girl proudly walked up to the table, with a neutral face and an indifferent disposition. She scribbled her name under mission 3, then turned around to walk back to her place on the wall. As she walked back, past all of the students of Edo Bugei, she kept her head high and looked around the room. As she walked back to her spot, she spotted Suishoku, who looked scared. She gave the girl a small smile, to reassure her that everything would be okay.

She also spotted Izuki Kai as she passed. The girl changed her course, and scooted down the aisle to take up the empty seat next to him. "So. What mission are you joining?" She asked, tilted her head sideways to look at him. In retrospect, maybe sitting on the side where his missing eye was, was a bad idea. She pushed the thought out of her mind and kept talking. "I signed up for mission 3. I'd be the best at that one." The girl nodded and sighed slowly. This wouldn't be an easy task. Many more would die from this.

Mika stepped into the meeting and took her seat for the processions to begin. She felt some peace with her family back at home but talks of the war kept coming up between her father, brother, and the clan elders. As half of Japan's military might, the Honda would not slouch against their foes and foes of the Tokugawa. Her role only allowed to listen in on these meetings while her brother would take a more president seat at their father's side. He is to be the future clan leader after all and has earned recognition in his strength and charismatic behaviors. Already would her twin be on his way soon enough but with an ensuing battle to come was there no doubt in her mind where her brother will be going. He'll go where the army was to go unless he ended up following his own separate agenda.

She stared at the missions as they were announced with attendants holding the tablets to register upon. Already she found many going for what missions they wanted with names electronically posted above for the student body to see. Attack and Defensive missions were quickly filling up that even one student force-ably grabbed one tablet prior to signing up with a brief disturbance rippling like a small pebble. Mika could only catch a glimpse of the Elite brand on their arms before going to where she thought to be. Mika was fully aware that she'll lack the skills to confront enemies in the field. Easily the girl could be overtaken by raw strength. She went to sign up for the mission within Kyoto to see about these high court members. It'll be a chance to see if she had what it takes to face off against members back home who held wavering faith to the Honda and Tokugawa. After registering did she find the name, Tagami, among the listed. This would be a little strange to meet the young poet on a mission like this but when her eyes found the sobbing girl on the floor, Mika began to have deep concerns of how this mission will go as well as if Tagami should be going as well.

Two girls sat in the auditorium listening in. One was the bright cheery third year Uesugi, Sayuri. The other one was the fiery Kuki, Yuriko. Both listened with complete attention on Headmaster Hoskawa. To one it was a scary premise. Sayuri didn't wanna be dragged into a battle...let alone a full blown war. Of course she'd trained in tactics, strategies, and even hand to hand combat. But she was a dancer and a singer...this was all well beyond her ability. But, if she didn't do anything she'd be killed by these....fanatics. Not only that, but her sister would be killed as well. She tightened her fists. "I can't let that happen." So when called for she stepped forward to do the social mission.

(Uesugi, Sayuri for the Social Mission)

The other girl, grinned. It wasn't like she relished bloodshed and carnage. It was just another chance to prove her worth. The last congratulatory letter was nice, but there was condescension in it. She had been chastised for her last minute act to protect someone else. Her fist clenched, in anger. Her eyes locked onto the Headmaster. She was driven, and determined now. She'd hear it from the Shogunate....or the Gods willing, directly from the Emperor. "I am the Dragon." With that, Yuriko stepped forth and put her name to it.

(Kuki, Yuriko for the Attack Mission)

--------------------
Kuki, Yuriko - Crimson Dragon
"Sing your death song, and die like a warrior going home."

Uesugi, Sayuri - Black Snow Princess
"Live your life to your song, and never let anyone silence your beautiful voice."

Kobayashi Natsume - Social!

(OOC: I've written an RP post with my character's motivation, but as my character has not yet been approved, I won't submit it yet in case there are issues with the character. Once it's been approved I will edit in the full post! Consider this a placeholder. I wanted to show my interest in joining the event and I hope this is alright to do!)

Takuma stood near the back as the meeting started, watching other students sign up for missions with a vigor for fighting. He made his way to the nearest tablet, signing up for the Tactical Assault. Giving a polite bow and salute, "Freshman medic, Saito Takuma ready for action. Tactical Assault will need a medic right?"

He gave a pat onto his satchel, a small bag full of bandages, gauze, and crude herbal medicine. Perhaps he made the wrong choice in mission, perhaps he should have gone elsewhere. But Takuma sat down watching other students sign up and prepare to leave.

A little while later, a bush seems to saunter into the area, making its way to the area to sign up for a particular mission. An arm with a pencil in hand signs the name across the dotted line.

Roshi Bento is going on a mission of Infiltration!
