HOSOKAWA, KENTA of the Hosokawa clan

His gig line has to be straight, no untucked portion of his shirt, and shoes clean and shined.

The primary motivation in Kenta's life is protection. But not in the sense of a bodyguard, or foot soldier. Kenta wants to make sure other live through what ever hardships they go through. This is why he has delved into the medical arts. Knowing of his fate as the heir to his father's seat, he also takes his education seriously, especially learning how to instruct. A proper education is the real first line of defense. His general disposition is a blend of joyful and calm. His training at home makes his cal almost unbreakable, but there are those buttons which can set him off.
He has a confident air about him, no matter what he is doing. He never seems to stress about what is next for him, almost making transitions look easy. He is very meticulous with every detail of his work and life. Surgeons have to be very precise, so it is best to build that precision. He makes sure his moves are very deliberate trying to ensure no wasted motion or energy for any activity, because you can't save a life if you are tired or injured. Medical training requires adaptability, which Kenta attempts to apply to every aspect of life.
He does lean towards being more cautious in times of danger than being a "true warrior." He knows that war is the very opposite of what he lives for, but it is unavoidable. He would rather heal than harm. He isn't very comfortable giving away information about himself, so he will attempt to evade anything that may concern his life or personal habits. • Hosokawa Moritatsu (Gou Shishio)
• Hosokawa Ami (deceased; Wako Miyazaki)
• Hosokawa Kenko (deceased; Mai Makihara)
BACKGROUND: Originally born as Yokoyama Sho, he never knew his original name. While he was still an infant, his mother took him out for a walk to get him to calm down, enjoying the warm spring air. As they passed an alleyway, a group of thugs held her up for all her belongings. When she handed them over, they cut her down and ran off, ignoring the seven month old in the carriage. It was a few hours later, as the sun was starting to set that fate would look upon the child. Hosokawa Moritatsu was walking home after delivering flowers to the family grave. The date was the anniversary of His wife and Daughter's death. The Elder man found the infant crying in the stroller. Seeing that there was still new children being born that needed protecting, and that his lessons could save them, kept him from joining his loved ones now. After a bit of expedited paperwork (head of a clan has that kind of stroke), the 'unnamed' child was formally adopted as Hosokawa Kenta.
Growing up, he never even knew he was not the biological child of Moritatsu. He seemed to be easily accepted by the other Hosokawa's and was never told of his origin story. His training, however, did begin like natural Hosokawa's. From the moment he could read, everyday was school. Education was very important in the household, so it was essential to study. When he was able to use logic to argue with his father (not one he actually won), the training in etiquette, not manners, was started. This shaped his outlooks and personality more than anything else. Etiquette gave him confidence, meticulousness, and precision.
When he had come 'of age,' he started to become a bit more refined. He knew what he wanted to do in life. He saw in the History of Japan that war was a violent bloody place. Destruction was not something for him. He felt a tug at his heart for preservation. He asked to learn how to treat wounds and repair damage caused by wars. His father gave him a couple books on first aide, but informed him that if h really wanted to learn, he would have to apply for Edo Bugei.
To ensure that he would be given an accurate assessment, and not just be granted in by his father's name, he was allowed to take the test by ID number. Those assessing the test would not know his name, just 157489623. He had a knack for learning, moderate physical prowess, but no skills with edged weaponry. He was admitted, despite not being a scion.
