This. Place. Is. Massive.

A very shaken Viola arrives with the escorts to the women's dorm with several bags in tow. Had the escorts not been with her, she fears to think how much of an issue it would have been to even find her room. They quickly find their way to the designated room and after taking a quick moment to drop off her belongings and wish her a warm welcome to Edo, depart and leave Viola to put up her belongings and decorate as she wishes.

The room seems fancier than even the hotel rooms she was allowed to play in as a child. The room was a generous size, with a full bed, entertainment center with a tv, and a small desk in front of a window to place her laptop and some pictures. The walls are a bright color, probably because this was a female dorm. Then it dawned on Viola... where's the washroom? She took a moment to open her door and peek out to see that there was a room a few doors down and, though she was flustered at having to share the space with other ladies, did count her blessings that it was ONLY a female dorm and not a shared living space with guys. The thought of that creeped her a bit, but she relented and returned into her dorm. She took another moment to gauge the room she would call home for the next few years, and stood at her doorway in awe of the amount of rooms there were. She turned around and left the door open as she began to unpack.

Clothes came out first and were hung or folded, then put into the closet set into the wall at the foot of her bed. Next came her bed spread and pillows, with the brilliant purple comforter and pink pillows. Then came her laptop and pictures of her family and home. The laptop was set on the desk and cables ran for it and her phone. She stood up when completed and turned to her picture frames to decide where she wanted them. As she picked them up and placed them, she took a moment and reflected on them before setting them down; A picture of her home with a colorful evening hue displayed in the sky, she placed on the right side of her desk, and a group photo of her and her parents, Viola in the middle and her parents on each side with an ocean view behind them, she placed on the left side of her laptop. She also had a few other photos of friends and some of her parents in their younger days she placed next to her television or hung on the walls.

When she was finished with the final picture, she returned and sat down at her desk to look outside. For miles, she seen nothing but buildings and people going to and from God knows where. And in the middle of it stood her school. She retrained her gaze from the window back to her picture of her family on the desk and rested her head on her arms. A small tear formed in her eye as she remembered the somber goodbye that happened only days before. She missed home. She knew this jungle she had entered would be far from easy, but ultimately worth it in the end. "I'll make you all proud of me." Viola muttered under her breath as she wiped the lone tear away. She sat and thought for a minute on what to do next.

The art of being a busybody is to purposely go out of ones way to intrude in another’s life. Off and on this can be witnessed first hand from seniors, upstarts, and the few Elites that keep school conduct in check by their own skewed visions of what Bugei strength is. When those are presented, however, the offer welcomes itself by the unnatural event it presents. Take an open window with odd smoke filtering out or an open door with noise coming from inside. The signs that beckoned to be viewed into. All this is the process taken to today’s reasoning of Honda Mikazuki to go astray from her usual path.

Mika was on her way tobher dorm room, leaving the elevator and deleting more contacts from her phone she no longer cared for. Numbers that held no further meaning nor use to be of service if they had not already expired. How and why they have was not something to question over. This person behind the number had no meaning in her life that the maintenance number or the rotary dial of the school IT was more important than someone in the same homeroom. Another number left the register when light filted the hallway that wasn’t from the ceiling. Her head then turned to find a door left wide open. It is late into the year now and hardly anyone by nature just leaves doors open. Did the school have some routine cleaners she had not heard about before? If this was the case then her messy drawings wouldn’t be left scattered around her bedroom floor on her more temperamental days.

Instead, Mika approached the door to see about trying to set the lock from the inside and shut it. Whoever left or belong her would have the key to open it anyway, Mika reasoned. Her thin arm reached in to find the lock when she now saw that someone was indeed inside the room. Now that seeing the owner of this room was here, her hand moved from the handle to knock on the door to get their attention.

“You left this open,” she spoke after two solid raps on the door. Mika didn’t happen to hear whatever was said prior upon stumbling across the oddly wide open door.

After having the moment to reflect on home, Viola's thoughts tracked to where she could go in this busy place. Are there any good places for food, maybe somewhere peaceful to eat when you get said food, or to do homework or training... She thought about seeing if the rooftop may be a viable place, but thought it would be a bit cliche. It seems like that would be the easy way out, and those odd anime girls she watches occasionally use the roof like it's their second bedroom. No thanks.

She must have sat there for a couple minutes thinking before she heard a knocking on her door and a light voice reminding her she left her door open. Viola calmly turned around in her chair, curious as to who it was, but more embarrassed that she had forgot to close her door before letting her thoughts wander off. Her eyes were surprised to see what looked like a model standing at her door, with her strawberry blonde hair and thin figure to match it. With that also came a thousand yard stare, which initially came off to Viola as a possible judgement stare, but she decided to waive it off since, really, she had every right to be judged for being absent minded.

"Oh gosh, I am so sorry! I didn't mean to trouble you over me being silly. I just got here, and I'm a bit overwhelmed. I got lost in thought after unpacking and... " She stopped herself there as she was rising up to go to the door. She stammered that out as quickly as she could before realizing it was rude to spout like that without introducing herself first. She stood before the girl and made a slight bow before restarting the conversation. She raised and continued, "I'm sorry, that was rude. I'm a new student to Edo Bugei." Viola then extended her hand out to greet the new person in her life, hoping the introduction she was given so far wasn't enough to push her away.

"My name is Kunishi Viola. What's your name?" She smiled slightly, hoping this would be an opportunity for something good to happen, and to maybe use her knowledge of the school to learn where everything is.

The girl she saw slumped over in the room rose their head and looked her eye which Mika stared unblinkingly for a moment. She watched them get up and, as they stammered their excuses that went one ear and out the other, Mika focused in on their blue eyes with a faint bow in greeting. They looked too authentic to be contacts. She observes the girl bowing to her then offer a handshake right after. “Were your parents westerners?” Mika asked after a moments pause before taking their hand to shake. Their grip wasn’t very tight in grasping Viola’s hand. “Honda Mikazuki,” Mika introduced herself after now noting rhe girl’s name was also of western influence.

After their handshake which may have mostly been Viola moving Mika’s hand during it, her head cocked slightly at the odd timing of their meeting and it wasn’t due to their door being left open. “We do have a lot of new transfers as of late,” she half informed them in her statement. Not too long ago had the school just taken in several Chinese students for an untold amount of time. “Was your clan the ones who sent you here?” Her questions each came out as passing, open observations. It was as if Mika was talking to herself aloud more than anything if her eyes didn’t remain in contact with Viola’s the entire time. Mika tends to stare a lot when observing people and things of interest.

The phone’s screen in her hand glowed gently in her free hand that largely went ignore in the conversation. In the screen had the Honda family emblem and little else of indications besides the number below flashing on the screen. An incoming call but largely an unimportant one in her current frame of mind. “You seem to have settled in well enough,” Mika now complimented the state of their room in her continuous state of observations.

As Viola offered her hand in introduction, she had heard Honda ask if she was a Westerner before clasping her hand lightly and introducing herself. Viola took and shook gently before letting go to answer her question, realizing now that she was closer her stare wasn't that of judgement, but of curiosity and interest. This made Viola feel more relaxed and thankful that the first person she met outside of the escort wasn't here to make her feel inadequate.

"No, we're not Westerners at all. Some of my ancestors from the past were foreigners due to religious persecution, but none from modern days have been outside the country."

She wondered for a minute about why she would ask that, then realized it was the name that probably made Honda wonder. Viola did see the giant ships with red sails coming into the harbor as they were arriving, but didn't think to go check out the situation since she was unpacking and, honestly, probably would have ended up lost without help. Honda may have thought Viola was one of them. She let out small chuckle and continued,

"My name does tend to give off a foreign vibe to it, but honestly, this city is the first time I've ever been outside of my own province."

Honda then informed her of the new students arriving recently and asked if her clan sent her here. She looked down at her necklace and remembered only a few days ago how much her life changed because of it, hoping that good things would come because of it. Viola raised to look back into Honda's eyes and told her, "More or less, yes. I received this relic recently and it has somehow resonated with me." She pointed at her necklace informatively then continued, "Because of my mother's previous position with the Konishi clan, she was forced to inform them of her discovery, and they made arrangements with Edo to get me here safely." She then gave Honda a small glance around her body to see if anything stood out as a relic, but nothing made itself obvious. Viola then asked, "So if I'm not intruding, how did you end up being recruited for this school? Do you have a relic as well?" The question came off as plainly curious. Viola was interested in finding out what various relics looked like so she could better understand what to look for in the future to identify a Scion.

"Oh, thanks. Yeah, decorating my room was the easiest part of moving in." She let off a small laugh. She wasn't completely settled in to her new home yet, but if the people approached or interacted like Honda was doing, it would definitely be a lot easier in the next few days. An environment with likable people and decent places to go to would make this much better and give her peace of mind. She finished her thought, "The last thing I want to do is make this my new home and it be a wreck. A girl's gotta have a nice place to come back to after being out all day."

Viola realized then they had been standing in the doorway for a few minutes and figured if the conversation carried on, it might be better to sit down and carry on. "Would you like to step in for a bit and sit down? You can use my chair and I'll sit on my bed if you're comfortable with that."

Viola gave Honda a pleasant smile and maintained eye contact. She gathered the formality of the conversation Honda had given off, and didn't want to be rude by looking elsewhere, though Viola was tempted to ask to see if she really was a model. Viola relented, though, thinking the question would be better suited when they were more acquainted rather than on their first meeting. For now, Viola felt comfortable, and the loneliness she had felt being away from home subsided temporarily.

"How unfortunate," the comment rolled on her tongue as if it were the default thing to say without much further provocation. Mika hand her hand retreat back to her side loosely while listening to their status and where they came from. It was little surprise that this person found the change to be difficult to take in and even littler in how rarely they left their province. Leaving the home province was but a vacation of time away to be entertained and conduct business materials for a short period. Assignment to Buei was a longer endeavor.

It was now that she took note of the glowing emblem on her phone, the emblem of the Honda clan. Mika stared at it with a far colder expression and pressed the side button to shut the device down. The sight of it was enough to cross her in furthering the phone's use and prior activity. "Kunishi-san, was it?" Her eyes went back to meet those heaven blues in the same observing stare as the phone was put away into the detention of her pocket. "Your station here to Bugei is rather typical as with my own. Assignment to be enrolled to this establishment was to come eventually as aging," her voice stated near monotone of this fact. As special as it is to be chosen by a relic, Mika was both a child of a rather powerful clan as well as a scion. Even if she were not to become a Scion then it was duty bound to seek higher education here in Edo. For a Scion then it too was only a matter of time before they were to be taken to Edo and put into Bugei custody. Not many or hardly any could escape these facts unless there was a high level of determination to deny everything and return the relic to the Shogun's or the Clan's main custody. Declining the opportunity of higher education and power and security to come was rarely done.

Mika didn't want to inform them that she was a Scion but would do so at a later time. Becoming a Scion was a secondary to her and a mere step toward the direction she wanted to venture down. Her head then turned in small angles to note the personal touch in Kunishi's decorating habits. A tight smile was held when about keeping a tidy home to return to. "Indeed," she agreed with thoughts of a somewhat cleaned state of her own room. After awhile of standing around in their door way, Mika bowed slightly at the offer and proceeded to enter the dorm room.

The dorm rooms were all designed the same way with a bedding choice of western or eastern and comes fully furnished to be a small single bedroom apartments with working toilets and shower. Mika quietly took the offer of a chair and sat down with her hands pressed with the palms downward on her lap. "A lot of pictures you have here," she again observed. Rarely had Mika entered another person's room so there was only the room at home and in Bugei's dorms were used as sources of comparison. "All family, yes?"

(Side note, I realized this far in I've been mentally referring to Mika as "Honda" because silly American me is sorta uncultured, so sorry if I caused any confusion. o_o)

Viola finished her previous invitation and allowed Mika to enter the room as she replied to hearing about Viola's inexperience with the outside world. It never crossed her mind as being unfortunate since the province she lived in was close to the shoreline and her house was only a few minutes trip to the ocean. Sure, it did get a bit dull seeing the same shore sometimes, but it was those times she went to be alone she loved. It was quiet, and offered an amazing view most would sacrifice a lot to see. She wondered then if Mika may have been thinking of the religious persecution of her ancestors, but stopped herself short and waved it off as her putting too much thought into the expression. She meant well, and that's all that mattered.

As she began turning back into the room toward her bed, she spotted a door she hadn't taken much notice of earlier in her time used to study the room and wondered what it could be. She pondered for a moment if she was mistaken about the bathroom ordeal when Viola seen that Mika's phone had been going off a number of times.

The device had what Viola thought was a family crest on it, but payed little attention as Mika turned it off and addressed Viola about their being here. The words seemed very regal, like she had a much bigger purpose at this school than what she let on, but she included Viola as well. She didn't really think herself as the type to come to this school since her parents weren't rich and they had other, more dignified and, albeit, less than nice relatives who could afford this education. The Kunishi line had a few representatives in the school because of that, but Viola was the first one inducted due to being a Scion. She maintained eye contact as Mika finished with her phone, "Yeah, I suppose we all have reasons for being here." Viola smiled then turned her attention to the newly silenced phone Mika had put away. With a tone of concern, Viola asked, "Am I keeping you from something? If I am, maybe we can talk later." She didn't want to keep Mika from business or other friends who may be trying to reach her, though the look given by Mika expressed dissatisfaction rather than the usual happy expressions when receiving a wanted call or message.

Mika took a few quick glances around the room before having a seat in the chair and asking about the pictures. Viola sat on her bed and reminded herself of the pictures she had hanging around the room and the two standing on the desk behind Mika. Viola's smile shined as she replied jokingly, "They may as well be. I'm an only child, so I try to treat my friends like they're family." Viola then pointed to the family portrait standing behind Mika on the desk and informed her, "That picture is of my family."

Her father was on her left side and mother on her right, both had features similar to most Japanese families with the exception of Mayori, who had given Viola her trademark blue eyes. Ishuda's brown hair had a widow's peak beginning to form on his head due to stress and wore glasses. Their wardrobe in the picture had been a bit more stylish to portray a professional picture. Ishuda wore his priest outfit, which normally only sees daylight during his Sunday services. It was black with a white undershirt, and the Kunishi family emblem embroidered onto the right side over his chest. Mayori wore a red kimono with white decorations, looking almost like clouds, ingrained into the dress. Her dark brown hair was pulled up in traditional fashion, as if she were going on a fancy date or special occasion with her old ashigiri friends. Viola also had on a kimono. Hers was a dark purple with pink bubble designs and small wisps of lighter purple accentuating the bubbles. All were smiling and clearly were enjoying having their picture taken.

"We took that about a year ago. My father's name is Ishuda and my mother's name is Mayori." Viola allowed a moment for Mika to look at the picture before asking about her relatives. "Do you have any brothers or sisters?" Viola asked curiously as the light from the room allowed a better look at Mika's eyes. They almost seemed like golden leaves falling on an autumn day. It impressed Viola enough that she let out a quick compliment. "You have gorgeous eyes, by the way." The thought nearly seemed out of place and Viola wondered momentarily if maybe it should have waited until later, but nothing could be done now as it was out in the open. Viola was good at pointing out a person's strong points, but maybe not as oddly as she had just done. Regardless, Viola kept a smile on her face and engaging Mika's eyes with her own kind look, waiting for her response.

(it's fine. Formal strangers are usually in last name anyway for awhile till on first name basis depending on if your character is that casual or no.)

Her eyes roamed the many framed images that decorated the room. Some had what looked to be Viola in them and others with different people, all of which looked happy and presentable. However, not all of them were family as the girl directed her attention to the ones on the desk. These were more personal it seems judging the clothing attire in these ones. A going away picture? She held her tongue and nodded to show she was taking mental notes of who was in what.

Having been introduce to this girl's family, Mika dipped her head slightly in a small greeting to the photo. The picture of note looked almost like a new years occasion from how her mother was dressed in a lovely kimono. A regal purple with bubbles that made it appear more cute so this may have been more for show. Married women tend to not wear such flashy colors anymore but this hardly stops many from trying on fun attire. "They both look lovely. What was the cause of celebration?" Mika's eyes turned to Viola's after examining the picture enough to determine it to not be a graduation or a promotional one due to the lack of a certificate present.

Having asked the purpose of this picture, Mika briefly smiled for show as to avoid burdening this one with her current issues with the Honda family. This was but an exchange of information and it wouldn't be polite to share too deeply of these issues with her host. "My twin brother, Honda Matsushina, also attends this school. Currently he is rather occupied with matters of our Clan that it would be rare to see him at this time." Mika explained and hoped to keep it at that but to be told how pretty her eyes were had her sit a bit rigid before returning the compliment with a polite trained smile. This girl was only being polite, so Mika assumed, as these sort of words were things once told to her before when formerly giving herself to be a dress up doll for a few students in Home Economics club.

"They are nothing special but thank you. Mine are but accents while yours is the very sky, Kunishi-san." Viola's eyes were like that untainted sky that it's more intruding for Mika to stare into those and see if they ever cloud during their stay in Bugei. Having share some honest praise to her Host did Mika felt to point out to the other pictures on another aspect about them besides their plentiful numbers. "Were these taken yourself? The lighting of them is very formal and clear to present each subject. I currently take photography as a hobby," she explained to give reason to her minor fascination of the pictures.

Viola paused for a moment as Mika's eyes momentarily inspected the picture of her and her parents, and gave a slight bow as they were introduced. Once she rose, she turned to Viola and gave a compliment, then asked about the occasion. With a small blush, she thanked Mika for the praise, "Thanks. We really like being able to dress in them." She then responded to the question.

"We had gone to the Kunishi New Year celebration they have at my relative's house. The family tries to get together at least once a year to enjoy themselves. The New Year happens to be the easiest time to get together, so we all dress up and have fun." She gave a big grin reminiscing about the many years they held the family gathering and the fun times with her relatives.

Viola and her clan knew that tradition didn't call for dressing so nicely for a simple gathering, but still took the opportunity to do so since they were rare. Viola always enjoyed the holiday because of the kimono and being able to see cousins and other family members she hadn't seen all year. That year in particular, one of her richer uncles had a camera he purchased earlier in the year and decided to take family portraits for each individual branch that showed up. The pictures were taken, with Ishuda and Miyori being surprised at the quality of the photo. Viola, on the other hand, was just happy to have a family picture. After the party some time later, several copies of the pictures came by mail, and one has been in her possession ever since.

Viola keenly tuned in as Mika explained that she did have a brother who seemed to be very busy with affairs and nodded in understanding. Without having a sibling of her own, she wasn't sure how it could have felt to have one that was busy with important business like inner Clan affairs, but imagined it'd be no different than a close friend that only came by on occasions because of work or other classes. She gave a reaffirming smile in return and commented, "I see. It seems like he's a pretty important person, Mika-san. I hope he's doing well in what he's trying to accomplish." Viola maintained her smile toward Mika. She didn't want to pry into clan business or other ordeals concerning them, so she ended the conversation about him, simply sending a well intended prayer his way. It was an interesting note that she did have a twin, though, and made Viola curious to see him at some point in her time in Edo.

Viola's ill timed compliment of Mikas' eyes happened to find themselves in good graces as Mika seemed to tense up for a moment before relaxing again and returning it to Viola about hers. She breathed an inaudible sigh of relief, thankful that she didn't compromise the mood. A clear blush began to appear on her cheeks and her smile became more relaxed. She rarely heard compliments outside of her parents and, honestly, never had her eyes compared to the sky. "Thanks Mika-san. I can't say anyone's ever compared them to the sky before, but it's a nice comparison." She paused for a moment before deciding to continue with her thought. "Yours remind me of leaves at the beginning of fall, how they turn that pretty orange. It's rare to see eye colors like that, so I had to compliment them." Viola had hoped her comparison didn't fall short of expectations, but upon hearing her next question about her photos and her involvement with the photography, she knew that she'd understand.

She took a look around at some of the ones Mika was entertaining her thoughts with before she gave her answer. The pictures of her friends scattered on the walls were mostly from her track friends she met during practices and meets. Her uncle and his digital camera had left a bit of an impression on Viola, but she hadn't considered it for a hobby. Most of them were pictures she took with a film camera her parents bought her a few weeks prior to her leaving.

"Yeah, most of them were taken by me. They were taken on a film camera I had developed shortly before coming up here. Most of the girls were from my track team." She smiled and again pointed to her desk at the picture on the other side of her desk. "The picture of my house is sitting there. I took that about a week ago around dusk. I think that's the best picture I've taken so far." She didn't want to gloat too much because she knew that she was still just an amateur, but Viola was proud of that shot.

An assortment of dusk colors in the sky accented by small rolling hills in the background with her house sitting in the middle. The house itself wasn't anything fancy to look at, but fit well as the center point of the picture. It was a small one story house made of wood and had a black roof. There was a small porch near the front entrance and two windows placed in front as well. The light were on and accented the colors of the sky well, bleeding into the encroaching night sky. Of course, being film, Viola had no idea what the picture looked like until she developed them, but when she received them and seen this picture, she knew she wanted to keep it.

She gave Mika another moment to study the picture and give her opinion. While she waited, she chimed in with curiosity about the kind of photos Mika likes to take. "Do you have certain subjects you like taking photos of, like people, or objects? Or do you like photography as a whole?" Viola had seemed to find a bit of common ground with Mika at this point and seen this as a chance to connect with her. She already had the impression that things were going well, but now, rather than making small talk, they had a potential thing in common besides being in the same school. She sat with delight awaiting Mika's response.

"That he will. He has to." Mika nodded with choice words of throwing her brother off a cliff with no where else to go but up. He'll have to climb to reach his appointed role in the family and she'll find her exit one way or another during that time. The violent mental image clashed with the placid look on her face as the conversation carried on between the two girls. She was grateful Viola choose not to continue on about the Honda clan and Matsushina as it would be gradually difficult to keep them under her boot without showing strain.

As she played the listener to Viola's life and family, she appreciated the comfortable atmosphere in the room. There weren't many complaints but fond memories that only needed a gently nudge and the information came willingly. A wonderful change of pace than dealing with more brutish people or the ones that approach Mika as some know-it-all for picking up every scrap they can find about her own family and brother. It may not take long for Viola to find the clear estrangement of the Honda twins being less sibling like and more of an acknowledgement of strangers so, for now, this light pacing was akin to emotional healing because it was a different pace.

"When placing our eyes this way, it would be a touch strange to wax poetry about them in mock romanic. However, forgive me that my ability with the arts isn't as too eloquent as those who are living practitioners." Mika explained, finding herself naturally wanting to explain this short coming to the girl. Poems and drawings wasn't a talent she had despite taking classes on both. She just didn't have the natural gift of art in those departments.

"So all these were by your hand," Mika took a moment to soak in the camera work. Much of it was basic in a center target and good lighting but more importantly were these done right away. "You have a good eye. A natural look ." While some could be improved upon to bring out the subject matter more instead of a portrait smile, this was always a good start. Mika considered taking more pictures like this but her subjects would hardly be human. Perhaps a few humans can be taken but where would they go? A book? In frames around her room like Viola's? It wasn't easy to say which just yet but those were the thoughts running through Mika's mind while Viola indicated to one that might win an amateur's prize in photography. A home in the sunset. "It has a wonderful quality to it. As though one could walk into the picture and be right there yet feels very one of a kind," Mika surmised then has to pause to consider Viola's questions.

"Do you have certain subjects you like taking photos of, like people, or objects? Or do you like photography as a whole?"

Objects was the answer but didn't provide a full answer. Mika felt it was easier to show since Viola had all the pictures around her to support everything she said from family to the hobbies and what her home was like. She took out her phone and turned it on and setting to ignore further calls from home at this time if any came up. A photo gallery was brought up showing the last ones taken in the past few months, which wasn't very much in number. Mika handed the phone to Viola to freely browse in trust that the girl wasn't the noisy type.

The photos in question weren't in any particular focus. Most were the autumn tree leaves in early frost, old pictures of a winter festival where the trees were light up to the point where the branches themselves were twigs of light. Another was a wind chime with its paper tag mid-twirl in the breeze and a display of silken scarves swaying from their wooden sale's rack. Eventually there were a series of photos that weren't of nature or of old events. These were depicting a set of three swords with a scarf for accent and on top of a wood grain finish of a dining table. This set was a clear departure of the frames of life as the swords were presented as the clear subjects. Arranged from smallest to largest with clear polished blades curved downward making it easy on the eyes to flow from one sword to the next. These were the first images of Kire's Want, Need, and Desire for his craftsman credentials.

In response to comparing her eyes to those of autumn leaves, Mika responded,"When placing our eyes this way, it would be a touch strange to wax poetry about them in mock romanic. However, forgive me that my ability with the arts isn't as too eloquent as those who are living practitioners."

It took Viola a moment to comprehend the phrase as the use of language in the sentence was unusual to her and reminded her of formal conversations she had with the head of her clan, though they were few and far between. Once she made sense of the wording, she simply smiled back and gave a sincere reply, "It's no problem at all. I try to catch the best in everyone and make sense of it not only to myself, but to whomever I see it in. I find it's a good way to be uplifting and does good for the soul." She was taught at a young age that picking a person apart for their weaknesses or defects is a quick way to make enemies and only causes hate to form. To curb this, it was instilled in her to make use of the good traits in someone and bring it up; uplift the person you're speaking with, and the good within will make itself known. It became natural over time for Viola to bring up compliments in conversations, though like with Mika, it came at an odd time. Again, she was thankful that the timing wasn't enough to push Mika away and the conversation took a positive turn in response.

Mika honed in on Viola's response to her photos and in particular, the photo of home that was pointed out. She responded with praise, saying the subjects were done well and her home photo gave a realistic feel to it. Viola nodded her head in respect and gave a sheepish thank you in response. She was happy that she had received good feedback from someone who made it more of a hobby to take photos than she had. Once she relaxed again, she asked Mika about her preference in picture taking. She brought her phone out, touched a few buttons, then handed it to Viola in a manner to suggest she wanted to show her pictures on her phone. Carefully, she took the phone and was instantly greeted with a photo of a frosty fall morning. Viola took a moment to take in the sight and visualized herself in it before moving onto the other pictures.

Each photo seemed to bring her into the setting they were taken in and gave a sense of being there. The cold air and ice of a fall morning just before winter, a festival with lights strung high into the trees, a wind chime billowing in the wind ringing its harmonic tone to the world; There wasn't a single of these pictures where it was difficult to be drawn in. She continued on and found the final picture in the set: a masterfully crafted set of swords each with a ribbon attached to the ends of them as accents. An audible wow escaped Viola as she was entranced with the craftsmanship of the blades, in awe that something so deadly could look as incredible as they did. She then slowly pulled the phone away from her and handed it willingly back to Mika, giving praise as she did so.

"Those were amazing pictures! I couldn't help but feel like I was actually there witnessing the scenes. You have an incredible gift for photography. And those swords were beautiful! Who made those?"

Viola found herself becoming excited about what she had just seen. She had taken mental notes of what she seen to hopefully better her own skills, but still wanted to know more. Rather than pester Mika too much about her skills or pointers, she sat there and entertained thoughts of going and taking more pictures once she found places to do so. She thought perhaps when track picked up, they may have meets in other areas that could provide opportunities.

She recalled that a lot of the pictures Mika had on her phone were of late fall or winter, which sparked her curiosity. With that, she decided to ask Mika, "I noticed a lot of those pictures were of winter scenery. Is that your favorite season?"

Viola continued her smile, still content with everything happening so far. Her gaze, besides being distracted by Mika's phone for the short time, continued to concentrate on her, wanting to learn more and make her feel comfortable. Viola gave pause and waited for Mika to respond.

"How kind." Her words becoming more brief and frank while waiting for the review to take its course. Nice words played into getting things and working toward getting a proper exchange from people. Mika wasn't sure on how to exactly use Viola to an extent so she played along as a guest in their corner of Bugei. They did just arrive at Bugei and all. The room looked too clean and not at all lived in just yet; orderly. Till that point is crossed did the girl smile some and nodded, taking her phone back and turning it off again.

"Not... purposefully. Circumstantially." Mika admitted how the pictures were mostly in the late seasons. The pictures themselves were rather old for her new phone and the camera hanging in her room is even older. Both were somewhat resuming hobbies taken up after the earthquake. Her head tilted to the side on what more to say and all the things she didn't want to say. The corners of her mouth tightened to a line.

"I noticed a lot of those pictures were of winter scenery. Is that your favorite season?"

"Again, circumstantially. I do prefer the spring when wearing lighter clothing. Light clothing and their seasons are more pleasant. The summer and the rain and heat are unbearable." She sighed. The heatwaves at the end and the wet humidity at the beginning were uncompromising. Mika frowned some with thoughts of having another summer season to go through.

Having gone through the seasons and their photo hobbies, Mika turned her head to Viola with a question about her school life and intentions. "What do you plan to accomplish here at Bugei? Education here is unfounded compared to other places in the country. The clubs are of an odd variety included."

Mika responded back to Viola about her choice of season stating that it was merely coincidental, saying that she preferred spring and the ability to wear lighter clothing. Viola took a minute to contemplate this, knowing herself that summers were very humid and, especially with her self-conscious clothing choices, very hot. She preferred autumn herself. The colors of spring at first bloom were incredible to see, but to her, the changing of the leaves denoting the seasonal change and the promise of cooler weather coming shortly afterward gave her more peace. She affixed her eyes back to Mika after momentarily contemplating her response.

"I prefer autumn weather myself. With my reference earlier about your eyes, you might have guessed that, though. To me, it seems more peaceful, especially after dealing with the awful summers."

She ended her thought referring back to the one aspect of home she wouldn't miss at all; the farm work that had to be done during the spring and summer months. Her father would make her help with the gardening to grow the crops he used for his stand. Early in the spring, things were fairly simple; plant the seed, keep them watered. Rinse and repeat every day. Once late spring and early summer hit, though, the real work began. Each day, in between training, school, and her social life, she had to check on the crop for any ripe crop, bugs, and other problems with her father. When everything was ripe, she was called to help pick them and prepare them for selling. Most teenagers her age have no idea the kind of labor and heat you have to endure for farming and the care you have to take to be sure it doesn't overwhelm you. It was a monumental task for her and her family, but one that also reaped many benefits for them when it was all said and done. Autumn and winter, they took off to her pleasure. The only care required after the final harvest was to preserve the crops until they were sold, and if they didn't sell, it was simply taken in and used as food for the house.

Viola shuddered for a moment thinking of the nasty sunburns she received occasionally doing the work and the times she did overdo it. Summer was not a kind season to her and if she could help it, she would stay in the entirety of it.

At this point, Mika asked about what she wanted to accomplish at the school. Viola wrinkled her mouth a bit, not really having a set goal yet. Before she moved here, the original goal was to attend a university closer to home, earn her degree in a field she had not yet decided on, and return to her town to practice said degree until she either married or her father officially passed on church responsibilities to her... or both. With the prospect of being here, though, things changed a bit. In some essence, she had taken after her mother in becoming a guard for the clan, except this clan was the leading clan in Japan. In the week leading to her coming to the school, she practiced her abilities with her mother and reviewed information about the school. Per her more defensive abilities, she and her mother decided it would be more beneficial to go onto the Guard track. This put Viola in line to become exactly like her mother had done, only degrees higher and with more potential.

The wrinkle from her lips disappeared and her gaze returned to Mika with determination emanating from them as she gave her answer.

"Before I leave this school, I want to be a prominent guardswoman to either the shogunate or my clan. The sky's the limit, and I'm the only one who can determine how high or low I can go."

The answer came off as a more mature and bold statement than what Viola had previously shown, but she had made her mind up that if this was the path she was given to take, she would take it as high as it would go. The only thing that could hold her back is her inability to go higher or become better. Sure, there's always going to be someone better than her, or someone smarter than she is, but she didn't want to be the best. She just wanted to make her clan proud, and keep the good graces upon them from the powers above her clan.

Her look of determination deteriorated slightly and she gave a more relaxed appearance as she finished her thought.

"I've already joined the Guard track, and have plans on joining the track team soon. I figure with the gifts I've been given, those routes would provide me with the best possible outcome for going as high as I can go."

Viola paused for a bit, as to unload the stress of the thought she just passed to Mika, and took a deep breath. She knew the road to accomplish this was going to be an insane one, but if it paid off and became reality, it would be a dream come true. She regained her smile after her brief silence, and her eyes reconnected with Mika as she returned the question to her.

"What are your goals at Bugei? Do you have any ambitions after you leave here?"

She sat with anticipation, shifting her hands to her lap from her sides almost appearing to lean in for the answer due to the difference in posture. It seems like they've began delving into subjects both of them have relevance in, and with that, a chance to learn what a realistic ambition would be. Viola thought back to her statement and thought maybe it was a bit too much of a goal, possibly unrealistic. She would reevaluate the answer later, though. For now, she gave her attention to Mika, preparing to give her response.

"Very well. The ending of the seasons can be that after their final heatwave."

Mika agreed with some reluctance before listening to a rather admirable thought. To be a guard and return to their people as one to serve their lordships. Just about anyone who enters that track could only hope to raise that high in their life time. If lucky, then their deeds would bring them higher than that but their time in Bugei would be what set those accomplishments on course. Missions here to maintain the peace and well being of people and artifacts would be beneficial for Viola to take in those calloused hands of hers because once finished with Bugei and returning to their lords would they be at the whim of whoever ran their territory. The lowest being a reserves officer on standby if nothing noteworthy was earned.

She didn't say anything positive about the desire nor negative when it came to Viola's passionate looks. The reality was there and the look Viola had bespoke of their willpower to get what was needed done. There wasn't more to say so her head nodded in acknowledgement of her wishes. When the question came back to Mika, the Honda girl didn't look pleased to be asked. Her former self would want to do everything for her clan, for her brother, and to maintain the seat of power the Honda's possess. Now and days the girl was more contempt to watch it all burn or off any traitorous acts on the spot. What Mika wanted at the core of it all was the root out those people and this may have been the truth of her desires the earthquake brought out.

"Whatever happens later on will be how they are. Continued studies here may extending and strengthen what physical blades couldn't do. As for returning to the home province will be further determined by the one who will rule next after father." This was the main point bullet point but not what she wanted to do here. "Speaking plainly, what time left in Bugei would be for re-purposing than finding a future husband."

"Ah, I see."

Viola answered with a simple nod in agreement to Mika's statement. She knew well that being here for most was the best option and could lead to better options for them in their clans, but only if they acknowledged that effort. Those unfortunate enough to not receive any praise from clan members could be shoved off into undesirable positions, making efforts worthless. The thought scared Viola a bit as she sat and thought of a reply, but knew that with her just starting out here, there would be no way of knowing how things would go until the time came to move on.

"Perhaps your clan will be kind to you and give you a position worthy of your effort. And your future husband will be a very lucky man, I'm sure." She brought her smile out again and tried to end the topic on a high note, realizing the topic of her clan seemed to come with a grimace. Viola took the visual cue as a sign that perhaps it was time to move on to another topic and try a little harder not to get back on topic about her clan. She thought for a moment about a decent subject until one that just about anyone could talk about came to mind. The question couldn't come at a better time, as she was beginning to get hungry; her last meal had been several hours earlier before her escort entered the province, and it was starting to show.

"So what kind of food do you like? Are there any restaurants around that you like?" Viola momentarily looked down at her stomach as it let off a near inaudible growl, then back at Mika blushing and letting off a nervous laugh. She sat there awaiting her reply, hoping for recommendations, and also curious what someone of her size and looks ate regularly... secretly thinking it could help her lose a few more pounds.
