The number you have dialed is currently unavailable right now. Please leave a message after the tone.

Mika sighed into the phone from her room in Bugei dorms. The clock on the wall ticked away past dinner hours. Second thoughts of having to arrange this after that horrible club meeting irritated her like buyers remorse. Her hand lifted a plain, normal calligraphy brush and set it to rest before a messy sheet of paper. Instead of direct scribbles was she trying a more abstract art style of letting her brush wander over what she envisioned something would look like. The attempt to try making a flowing scarf looked more like a black eel are wormed over the sheet by the time the number for Ajibana was placed and the dial tone rang for a few minutes.

Taking a breath and awaiting the tone, Mika sat formally on her cushion as if talking before the very man himself as the message was recorded.

"Honda Mikazuki. Many apologies for calling so late and abrupt phone call. I am calling to inquire about the former Ghost Rider. Their status and what has become of them. The student along that mission has been wondering the same and would like to know as well. We are both well aware that they were left under your custody and only ask for this much. A meeting may be over stepping this request, to have the Rider meet with student Rakuyama, but the knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Apologies once more for this intrusion."

Hanging up the phone and setting it down parallel to her work space, Mika hung her head and somewhat bowed to the phone as though ending a stressful meeting. It is very unlikely to every come to pass or founding on the senior's generosity is too forthcoming to assume that it may happen, but the message has been delivered on her part.

In Central Edo, more specifically in the Metsuke quarters within Edo Castle's grounds, in an office sat the Senior Metsuke Ajibana. While he had unofficially become a direct aid to the Shogun after the Ikko Attack upon the city, he still went by Senior Metsuke more out of habit than anything else. He was still in charge of Edo's metsuke after all, though formally he was now higher ranked than that. Right now he was working on paperwork he had received from Junko some time ago in regards to the forest of Aokigahara and how best to clear the bodies within it. His current document was an official request for aid to the temples in Northern Edo.

Ajibana's phone went off but he didn't even notice. He was so deep in thought that the he couldn't even hear the phone, half buried under a pile of papers. With a sigh he began shuffling through documents to find a specific note Junko had given him earlier only to find the face of his phone glowing. Going to his voice mail he listened intently to the message. It was about a case that had happened some time ago involving the city's ghost rider. It was something Ajibana hadn't thought much about recently. However, he didn't want to be rude to the two. Checking the clock it felt a bit late to summon the ghost rider to him. Right now the girl was likely taking a long ramen dinner somewhere in Eastern Edo.

Taking his phone he made a call back to Mikazuki waiting for her phone to go off. Regardless of if he got her voice mail or actually her he would start the same way.
"Ms. Honda. It is a pleasure to hear from you. I wasn't expecting a phone call regarding that young woman. Is everything alright? Does the Bugei need her for something or is this simply concern and follow up?" he asked. It wasn't in an aggressive or accusing tone. It was more so that in his mind he wanted to quickly tag what level of urgency this phone call needed.

Another drawing of a strange black eel freshly caught and gutted in two for summer grilling... or so that was what her next art piece ended up being instead of trying to make the scarf seem transparent to accent it's lighter than air feel. The brush was set down as Mika looked upon her next piece to evaluate where she went wrong in her vision. Either she is too heavy handed or this is suggesting a level of hunger, a subconscious craving for grilled eel. The girl sat in her cushion in debate on what to do about this and that when her phone lit up. Eyes widened that the senior was up at this hour. Mika swiftly picked up the phone and answered it after the first two rings.

"Hello, yes, this is Honda speaking."

She picked up a rather quiet room on the other line while listening to his words. He didn't sound to be angered just yet and he spoke of the Rider as though they are alive. This is good news already for Bu anyway.

"Nothing of Rider would be required currently, to my knowledge of utilizing their tracking skills," she quickly defused the suggestion of it being a mission under normal Bugei operations. "This was a follow up on behalf of Rakuyama, that classmate on the mission back then." Mika felt to make the meeting sound abstract out of personal embarrassment to simply call it a causal meeting for the two but it's fairly clear that is the intent behind the round about words. "If I may be so bold to ask, Rakuyama would like their riding talents. Perhaps a trade of skills and mechanical work."

Ajibana's eyebrow raised a bit as Mika spoke.
"If I may be so bold to ask, Rakuyama would like their riding talents. Perhaps a trade of skills and mechanical work." as Ajibana listened to the words he lightly tapped his fingers on his desk, contemplating. It was true that the rider knew about bikes and machines, and could help the students. However, it wasn't as simple as merely telling that person to go see the students at Edo Bugei.
"Ah I see." he said calmly, trying best not to show how tired he was, though unfortunately his voice would sound a bit like a held back yawn and betray the feeling he was trying so desperately to hide.

"That is a complicated matter. In many ways that young lady still counts as a criminal and a rogue." at those words, somewhere in Southern Edo at a small food stall, a rather loud sneeze could be heard as a group of European women visiting Edo turned to see a young woman look decidedly unhappy at the liquid she had just splashed out of her soup bowl with her sneeze.

"She is currently suppose to have another metsuke watching her at all times. Though I suppose the Bugei is under constant surveillance. We would just need to be clear about when she leaves the campus so that she can be picked up and monitored." he stated plainly. He found no sense in hiding her criminal status from someone that had helped to at apprehend her. Even if the mission itself had caught much larger criminals in the process. She had still acted as a rogue scion which in Edo was very strictly forbidden.

“Their actions won’t easily be over looked which brings to another, and possibly, the most problematic asset in this request,” Mika added on. Her hand in her lap and holding the phone curled into small tight fists. It’s hard to forget a night that angered her half as much as her brother did. Mika hatefully glared at her eel drawing and took a moment to manage her temperment when speaking to Ajibana.

“The problem I forsee is mostly on Rakuyama’s behalf. I cannot give assessment on how the Rider has been but Bu would rather much ride around the city like that night with them. Or simply go on such tangents. This may be a temptation as they currently lack a means of official transportation, I would like to hear if this is a too much of a large risk? Granted that Rakuyama should understand this as a student of Edo Bugei, if this meeting would be granted allowance,”

Her hands flexed a bit. She didn’t want any more involvement than necessary.

“In terms of monitoring, do you have any suggestions on how to carry this out? I can offer to shadow when the Rider has left campus but not so much further than where they are going beyond direction and a time of departure. Rakuyama may assist in this as well when added as a terms of exchange..”

Ajibana thought over Mikazuki's words carefully. It was true that one of the girls seemed to have a lot of fun that evening. The elder official wanted to tell Mika quite a few things about Edo's Ghost Rider, but at the moment a lot was off limits to people outside of the upper ranks of Edo's Metsuke. He remembered the night well, hurrying to the abandoned building to discover that some of his own men had become corrupt, and taking a famous urban legend into custody only to discover it was a young woman. Most of what happened afterwards, when he had taken Edo's mystery rider back to Edo Castle,he couldn't directly state over something as insecure as a cell phone. Thus, he opted to tell her what he could.
"In terms of monitoring, I trust you being with them on campus will be enough. In regards to off campus activity, I will have two metsuke meet you three at the school's gate when you are done. You can simply call my phone and I will send agents to the school. She will also have GPS on her phone turned on. Make sure she doesn't lose that cellphone somewhere." he then paused to take a brief drink of water. It was late for him and he didn't want to go hoarse on the phone. Especially when talking about escorting someone that was still partially a criminal.
"The person you met no longer has a motorcycle, nor a relic. Both have been deemed off limits. Thus, I don't believe simply being on Bugei's campus on working on a bike will be too much temptation. I will make it quite clear to that young lady exactly what is and is not off limits. I simply ask you keep an eye on her so that she doesn't try to slip away. So far she has done everything I've asked of her, and is cooperating well, though I don't know if that is simply to avoid prison, or because she is actually listening." again, somewhere in Southern Edo a girl turned her head and sneezed even more violently. Ajibana's name leaving her mouth as a curse more than anything.

"I am curious though, roughly when did you plan for them to meet the two of you at the Bugei?"

Her blonde head nodded now and then as though the senior was sitting across from her small table. A mental reflex of sorts. It gave her relief to feel heard and somehow a sense of inner appreciation. Somehow or another Mika found Ajibana to be the most reliable and respected adult of the mentsuke that if someone were to ask who she respected the most in Japan, Mika would mentally think of him than her own parents or the Shogun.

The senior came to an agreement that the temptation is real and, unfortunately, she would find herself shadowing some of it. The fact that the Rider in question has been very obedient and removed of aspects of power, the relic and bike, was unsurprising yet a bit suspicious. Mika tapped her thigh in wonder of what the Rider could be thinking. They didn't trust the mentsuke and acted in taking matters in their own hands. The Rider was almost missing in action for so long to become an urban legend. A part of her wanted to think that the Rider saw how Mika sees Ajibana but if they were more like Bu then it's really just being a good girl till uncle gives a reward. Bearing this in mind and the Rider's pretty weak physical abilities, Mika could only guess that the Rider hoped to be pardoned (unlikely) or given a bike to run at some point. Maybe work like they used to do in finding bodies and such.

Unable to pin an exact motive of what the Rider would want in keeping a good record than getting a bike again, Mika restrained a surprised cough when questioned on when this was going to happen. Obviously a date wasn't at all planned even went banking on having a means of communication with the senior.

"I expected a weekend to give them ample time and less interruption in classwork along with the adjusted midnight curfew." A plan was forged on the spot. "Their appearance on campus would be treated as a school visitor or former alumni to reduce further questioning and have Bu meet them before the lunch rush around the school store to serve as a guide thanks to changes and rebuilding of the campus building layout. A specific date is undetermined due to the nature of this call being sudden or too soon to request a meeting like this."

Having said this much on what could happen then it wouldn't take long at all for it to come apart. The original plan can deviate but it sounds like so long as they stayed on campus then there was little more to say. If the Rider or Bu wanted to leave then the mentsuke would collect them at the gate. "From what it sounds like, I will stress it upon Rakuyama to not leave campus during the visitation. Would this be adequate, sir?"

"From what it sounds like, I will stress it upon Rakuyama to not leave campus during the visitation. Would this be adequate, sir?" Mika asked. Ajibana nodded, even though he knew she couldn't see him.
"A weekend would indeed be best. I'm sure no one will raise too many questions about a visitor on campus. She looks young enough to be a former student coming back to visit, or a possible part time teacher. In regards to leaving campus, though, that is correct. I would prefer none of you leave the campus. If she did it would cause a lot of issues, and I will make sure she is aware of that as well." Ajibana wouldn't directly say it but he respected Mikazuki quite a bit. Coming from a clan didn't instantly mean someone was strong, or believed in Justice, yet Mikazuki seemed to have a strong belief in justice and the law, something that Ajibana held very dear.

Even among the Shogunate Ajibana was considered the most lawful members of the Shogun's inner circle. In his mind the law was absolute. Criminals needed to be tried, and the innocent needed saved. The rider was a unique case. On one hand she was a criminal and no one could deny her crimes. She had evaded police, used a relic without permission of the Shogunate, and trespassed multiple times. Though, she had also helped reveal corruption within the Metsuke, something Ajibana could not do in his lawful position. Thus, instead of agreeing to her execution, he had asked for her to be placed on an intense form of parole.

"I don't think she will attempt anything illegal, however I would also prefer not to tempt her. I still can't say I fully understand where the girl's head is at. However, so far who has cooperated with whatever we have asked." he explained.

"That is most reassuring to hear," Mika gripped her phone as she paused to review the arrangements. They were unofficial and quickly drafted but the pieces, or rather 'setting', was prepared in a swift agreement. Her thoughts of how Bu or the Rider would act mostly stemmed from that one night which was mostly muddled with Bu's interaction in the club not so long ago. However, this did not put aside the way the Rider acted. She recklessly made them go through rather dangerous portions of the city just to find the crime scene and had little regard in jumping off the bridge and nearly landing on her. This was all luck in being at the wrong place and the right time but it was irksome. The first impressions provided little else and Ajibana's words were but a sample of a potential outcome.

"The turn out of this might provide some insight at the high point of expectations if they have been acting good for now. There might be something the Rider simply wants to keep living for." The Honda hazard a guess on what that could be. On a personal level, Mika figured to keep living for multiple things; revenge, purpose, finding personal vanguards. If the Rider didn't want to just accept an execution and hasn't thrown away Ajibana's olive branch then there may just be something in that ink body suit.

"Under the guidelines of a weekend, I will be available for when it will be decided on which weekend on your choosing, sir."

"Under the guidelines of a weekend, I will be available for when it will be decided on which weekend on your choosing, sir." Mika responded. She had also brought up a good point, at least in Ajibana's mind, about what the former Ghost Rider of Edo was after in cooperating. It was something he had thought about a lot himself. If it was simply avoiding execution it would have been easy enough. However, she had recently been helping the metsuke with quite a few different tasks. Something he had allowed of course, but had raised his own suspicions.

Looking at his calendar on the wall he grimaced a bit, taking a bit of time to think before responding to the Honda girl's words.
"I think giving her a bit of leeway, such as letting her to go the Bugei, is the best way to see her intentions. As for what weekend, I think it is best you and that girl, Bu, figure it out yourselves. If left to choose a weekend that is ideal for me, I'm afraid it would be years." he said with abit of a sarcastic laugh. The old man was unfortunately, deadly serious. Especially after the Ikko Invasion Ajibana's rank was extremely high up in the Shogunate, and being part of a bureaucracy meant he now had little time for much else but paperwork. Even simple patrolls seemed beyond his time frame recently.
"Some days I enter in the morning, walk outside, and it is already the morning again." he said with a deep sigh. Even looking at some of the plants currently sitting around his office it was clear that no one had watered them for at least three days. Not out of lack of caring for the plants, but simply due to everyone in the metsuke bureau being too busy to even stop to get a drink for themselves, let alone the office decorations.

"Though, that is neither here nor their. I trust you two can come up with a good weekend and send word to my office. Right?" he said, clearly making sure Mika understood he had passed the choice to her rather than leaving any of it to himself. After all, it was a request he was already fully approving.

"I... ahem, hope you see more than just mornings, sir," Mika spoke in condolences to the senior's predicament but found it awkward to say it in full sincerity or in the straight poise of someone of her statue is suppose to act by formality. It also struck her odd that the strict elder would suddenly joke like that which also left Mika unsure if she should oblige in kind, not that Mika has ever cracked one that wasn't condescending in some form. There was no helping it though. The man had a long service time put into Edo and the whole affair is just how things are.

Of course this all cycled back to what she found unavoidable. "I'll acquire a day as soon as possible." Bu shouldn't have anything going on either if that ridiculous voice acting job didn't get in the way. Actually, she wouldn't let that get in the way. Mika felt that voice acting job to be deplorable and their coworkers to equally be dirt to tread upon.

"I'll have a message sent to you shortly as soon as I get a hold of them."

It was the best she could offer before lowering her phone to still send away a text while she had him on the line. Even if it was unlikely to get a hold of Bu at this hour. If the senior was the hang up now then it would be fine as she'll send him another message once a date is made. A luck, if one could call it that, a fast agreement was reached.

“The first coming weekend will do.”

Mika seemed to have a good idea of the time frame and Ajibana had no intention of disagreeing. This way he would have time to call in other metsuke to inform them of the situation, as well as quite possibly the Iga ninja inside of the city. After all, if the ghost rider got away Ajibana wanted her caught right away. The ghost rider now knew quite a lot about Edo's underworld, as well as it's police system. It would be a problem if for some reason or another she went rogue once again.

"That sounds quite fine. It will allow me to prepared adequate escort. Please keep me informed." he responded. He didn't sound sleepy, but on the side of the phone Mikazuki couldn't see his eyes had started becoming a bit heavy. However one again he re-gathered himself.
"Is there anything else I can assist you with this evening Ms. Honda?" he asked formally. He didn't believe any other issues existed of course, but it was the polite thing to do. The Honda clan was important, and Mika had always treated Ajibana with the respect he deserved so he had no intention of simply telling her the conversation was over and cutting her off.

A few key pounds could be heard as she messaged back to Bu about their visitor needing someone familiar. The sense of Bu is the familiar and not just keen on what’s what on the school layout. The whole plan was coming together that all that was left was to act out the parts to play each piece. The girl nodded and expected the talk to end there. When he asked if she needed anything more Mika physically paused to think it over. She’s already bothered the man enough at this hour and got what she wanted to finish that ridiculous exchange with Bu other with so what more was there?

Her eyes lowered to the drawings before her of thick fat eels sprawling on her canvas. He did joke about the absence of his vacation times so the man can’t be as stiff as he often appeared to be. Still she hesitated with the given opening before asking, "I am trying to draw a scarf but, so far, everything I've made look like black eels. Am I too heavy handed, sir?"

"I am trying to draw a scarf but, so far, everything I've made look like black eels. Am I too heavy handed, sir?" his eyes went a bit wide, fortunately she couldn't see him. He wasn't expecting such a question this late at night. Though it could have been a metaphor. Grabbing a piece of extra paper he also grabbed a pen and tried drawing scarves. The lines seemed thick and the curves ways, but in a lot of ways they did indeed look like eels. Thinking of how to answer he responded.
"It is possible. You may be applying too much pressure." he answered politely as he looked at his own scarf on the paper before him.
"Try to breath as you go about it, and pull back a bit. I think it will help." he recommended.

Truth be told he wasn't sure if she did in fact mean scarves or if she was simply trying to use a metaphor. Either way though, he felt his response made sense. He also didn't spend much time with Mikazuki outside of missions and conversations like this, so it wasn't truly something he could comment on very well. Now he simply had to hope his advice helped her out. She was a nice girl, but did seem rigid at times. Then again, so did he.
"I hope that helps you." he said politely.

The drawing was picked up from the table and looked over in Mika's hand as she studying it under Ajibana's guidance. So her worries were founded after all. It was placed back on the table and weighted down as she took her brush and audibly sighed into the receiver. "Mm. Mhm," small notes were also heard as she breathed and lifted the brush as needed. Now her drawing transformed from thick black eels that wriggled about ready to be gutted open by a slick knife into thin snakes. If not snakes then a giant tadpole through in a long tube.

"I shall put more effort in studying brush techniques but this did provide insight," she spoke before realizing that what she was speaking of was suppose to have been a joke. Mika bit her lip in mild frustration while giving her thanks. "Thank you for humoring me on this question, sir." The brush was set down on its resting place to call it a night for this art project. "I shouldn't be causing this much distraction to your work. May your night become less stressful to your duties, Ajibana-san."

Feeling to end it there, she paused for any parting words before bidding the senior good night. A part of her wanted to dote on him as a grandfather who isn't maintaining his health but neglected to question if the man still had any family to speak of. Mika set the phone down and consulted her work piece on how to do this properly. Perhaps have a gift scarf sent to his office as a token of thanks but men don't particularly take to flashy colors. For now, no occasion presented itself to her to keenly provide one for his birthday while Elderly day took place in the fall. "Perhaps the movements of grass or the tides of the sea will suit him," the girl honestly pondered to seriously take up this action in the future as she rose up to turn off the lights for bed in her thin layered futon than remind herself of the headache on the coming weekend.
