(OOC: Welcome the dance! The rules of this dance OOC are that everyone will be in this thread. If you wish to ask someone to dance, please make a private thread with them in this area. Both NPC and RPC. Example, Nobu and Sui both start in this thread, but dance with one another, so I would make a seperate private thread for Nobu and Suishoku! Btw, the band is a mix between From Autumn to Ashes and Fall Out Boy. So enjoy that mental image.)

Edo Bugei Campus/Late spring/Beautiful Weather

On a quiet night in Edo, with the rainy season settling down and the animals of Edo coming alive with cries in the night, a large party was about to be underway at Edo Bugei Academy. The school was beautiful. The entire main school building was decorated in lovely banners and hanging silver ornaments. The entire Edo Bugei building had been done up like a Western style high school for the dance. In many ways it looked strange to the students, however this is what a lot of students had voted for as a theme. A romantic highschool, Western style school dance. The students had been told to dress formally. All men had to have collared shirts and no blue jeans. Meanwhile all of the women had to wear formal Western style attire.

In the main auditorium all of the chairs had been taken away and the Punk-pop-rock band Sinners Generation. The entire band hand shown up in shockingly formal suits as the male drummer, two lead singers, and two female guitarists smiled at the crowd.
"WEL-COOOMMMMEEEEE!" the lead singer said with a bright smile. He had black, long, punk rock hair.

"LEEETTSSS DAAANNNCCEEE!" and with that he started singing in shockingly sweet, smooth lyrics until the other singer next to him with spiky black hair started screaming into the microphone. It was clear why both men where in the band. The band began rocking out as the doors to the room opened. Guarding both doors would be Yagyu-sensei in a western style general's outfit with both swords at his hip. His eyes seemed to quickly assess what each students was wearing, stopping students that hadn't dressed properly or had obviously been trying to smuggle things into the dance hall. In his hand a small list of Non-bugei students that had been invited to the dance, Chinese students and guests from other provinces that happened to be close to some of the Bugei students, such as the princess of the Azai, Azai Kaori, and even the daughters of the Shogun himself!

Inside the hall the actual floor was lit up by a rainbow disco ball hung in the middle. On the far right wall a series of tables with food and drink, while along the left wall small standing tables, as well as a series of chairs for those that got tired, had been set up. It looked extremely expensive and formal. Sato-Sensei and Naganori-sensei both moved around the hall in beautiful Western style outfits making sure to watch the students as they entered. Out back behind the school building to make sure no one was sneaking in Nabeshima-sensei and Oda-Sensei both had rifles in hand, sharing a pack of cigarettes. Neither expected anyone to try and attack the dance, but recent events couldn't be ignored, and both seemed ready to drop anyone who tried to attack the grounds.

Now the students just needed to make their entrance!

The night embraced the Sotan Twins with its low lights and the cool air chilling them although the day had been pretty warm, if not hot already, perhaps for all the rush and excitement for this very moment.
Anyway, the two were ready for this as best as they could.

"Remember, don't take any drink from any strange or suspicious boy or girl, don't take any drug or pill and always remain sober!" Kayoko squeaked all serious as she adjusted his jacket with strong pulls that made Youri winch a moment with a short laugh, right some meters away from the entrance of the hall, where already outside sounded almost full of Students. Subtly she wanted him to look perfect in front of Viola and have a great time with her in this event without anything bad to spoil their precious moment, but for him she was simply overchecking all as usual.

"Yes yes, I know, it's the third time that you're repeating me that." He said with a huff, but followed with a smile to don't make it sound like he was angry at her.
He ruffled her black hair in response and later pressed his lips on her forehead as a goodbye for tonight, they'd be free from each other's gaze as promised to have some fun like any other teenager here.
Kayoko in response kissed back one of his cheeks and pulled him in a hug immediately after.

"Just stay safe brother, that's all I ask." She muttered with her face pressed on a shoulder
of the taller boy.

He was kind of amused that this time the part of the attentive sibiling was hers, although he was more used of crowdy places than her. Perhaps all she needed was a little comfort to face this new experience that she never did before instead, and he gladly gave it with his promise to don't make any mess and in this embrace between them.

After they felt ready to go, the two detached to enter the hall where the Dance was settled.

***

The flashing lights that begun to flare all around annoyed and blinded Youri for a moment once he had entered the wide hall, right in time for the music to start and see the others to pair up already. At least he was comforted to hear that the music was just his taste, something that he truly admired and appreciated from whoever organized the event.

Like the little rebel he is, he decided to join the Ball with a "broken" smoking - his jacket was dark blue while his trousers were dark brown - and wearing a simple black shirt underneath with no ties hanging around his neck, instead he left open two buttons of the shirt to expose a glimpse of his collarbone. He adjusted a moment his hair, well combed and pulled back to appear wavy on the nape and straight around the forehead, with a single pigtail holding back his long bangs off his gaze.

He gave a glance around, noticing lots and lots of Students in there already partying, including a Tokugawa member and perhaps a bunch of other royals around that made turn up his nose.

Royals... he thought as he moved away to don't see them nor to meet their gaze. His attention was on someone else here and he didn't wanted such interferences under his eyes.

He begun to search for Viola inside, where he promised they'd meet up for this dance-date, he even tried to refine his senses to search her admist the crowd where surely an element on her would catch his gaze, until... he stopped and smiled. As he accidentally did yesterday, he simply leaned on a wall on an area where it wasn't too crowdy and there he waited for her, with an unusual dummy smile shining on his face.

He was sure that he will be able to hear her voice first than her face, and this time the surprise won't feel like a shock but instead a pleasant relief.

In the meantime...

Kayoko appeared in the hall with a simple occidental attire, a pretty white dress down to her ankles and a bolero of the same color keeping warm and protected her arms. A bag hanged on her right shoulder, well sealed with her hold.

She felt nervous, exposed, alone, without having anything to protect herself in need, but she trusted the ambient she was in almost desperately, also to don't act like the overly-exaggerating and mannered girl of the situation. She will let the situation flow down her shoulders, a simple alcohol free drink to sip and a dance altogether with the other Scions and Students to be carefree of any inhibition at last.

The air around Viola as she stepped closer to the auditorium was electrified with excitement. She had prepared the entire day for this prepping herself far more than she normally would. Her hair was curled, with the longer bangs in the front showing the most of this by spiraling around her cheeks and meeting them at the end of the strands. She didn't wear any concealing make-up, but did apply eye shadow and a bit on her eye lashes to make them appear a bit longer. She had applied some dark purple lipstick to match her dress. She wanted to be sure that if she won Youri over, it would be evident, not out of jealousy, but to satisfy her inner girl cheering on the potential chemistry between the two.

Along with her lips, Viola painted her fingernails the same dark purple colors and managed to find a beautiful dress to accent the look well. She was a bit disappointed that the dress was a tad revealing of her top, but had little time to worry about that aspect as time was close to the dance.

She entered the doors to the auditorium, guarded by some of her fellow guard members and teachers. Some complimented her look and gave off an encouraging "Go get him tiger" as she smiled and waved at them and began her search. The music and lights going on in the dance were impressive to Viola, if not a bit too loud and bright, though she hid her minor complaints in favor of having a good time and knowing she was with someone that was probably feeling the same way. Most of her fellow students were already in the midst of the dance floor, showing off their moves or dancing with their dates depending on the song of choice by the band.

While looking around the dance floor, it dawned on her that they met the other day on the wall, so maybe she should try there first. That moment a few days earlier on the wall had brought this situation to life, so it would make sense to be the thing that kicks off the night.

Sure enough, within what seemed like moments, she spotted Youri, his head turned away, looking toward the crowd. The heart flutters and blush emerged within seconds of seeing her date. His attire seemed to match his personality quite well; dressed up, but at the same time, making a statement that he was here to relax and enjoy himself. With Viola's nerves shaking as before, she took this chance to sneak around out of his line of sight and come to him. She managed to duck behind a few others on her way to the wall opposite of where he was glancing and walked toward him in complete confidence, knowing in the back of her head and beyond all her nervousness that she would knock him off his feet. He wanted a surprise. She would deliver.

Once she was within hearing range, she spoke up, taking all her courage to speak with confidence and not seem like she was a nervous wreck on the inside. She brought her trademark smile upon her face as she gave herself away to him.

"Hey, Youri-san."

She paused momentarily for him to turn to her and see his reaction. She then followed her initial statement.

"You wanted a surprise, so here I am. Do you have any other wishes?"

Viola gave off a telling wink to him, as if to let him know that tonight would be worth the trouble and hassle of getting to this point.

YES YES, OH MY GOD GIRL, YOU NAILED IT! HE'S GONNA BE SO IMPRESSED!

Her thoughts exploded in favor of her approach as she tried and failed to hide the blushing. She panned her eyes up and down Youri now that she was up close to him and was in favor of his loose, but formal attire. She stepped in for a hug as she gave her opinion of his choice of style.

"You're very dashing yourself tonight. A good and relaxed style you chose. I like it."

With that, she awaited his opinion of her, and gave thought to those who might come in later. What would they have on? Did they go all out themselves or decide to stay closer to casual? And the Chinese students, how would they come? Youri mentioned something of them possibly being in yellow as that was their choice color of royalty, so perhaps they would be dressed like that.

Regardless, she found her date and awaited the fun the two would have that night. If all went according to plan, Viola had other surprises in wait for Youri. She just needed to see how things panned out before following through.

"Hey, Youri-san."

There she is! He thought as he recognised immediately the voice ringing in his ears, actually making him "jump off" the ground for the excitement.

"Viola! Haha, I knew that it would have worked like that!" He beamed as he turned immediately to her, showing also a little bit of eagerness to move in her direction.

However, what he saw a moment later shut him up but with his mouth lightly hanging down, utterly amazed. He remained to square her up and down, even two times, he couldn't believe what he's looking at is really Viola, in a good way.
Definitely as her name implies, violet really suits her.

He followed her body language and he carefully embraced her, not caring for the gazes of the other Students nor for any sort of childish cheer in the background for them, he was completely confident of himself and and focused solely on her. Only when he had well sealed his arms around her back he tightened his hold, a gentle squeeze of joy, before setting her free. Even her scent had some notes of violets or Iris, he couldn't really tell as he wasn't an expert of perfumes like his sister, but it's in contrast with his own perfume which he brought from his father, a wooden one. Such an interesting contrast even in tastes.

Once he was able to see her again face to face, he shook a moment his head and puffed his cheeks with a "whoo" escaping his lips.

"You're simply... beautiful, Viola." He almost muttered out of breath for the excitement.

Then, when he felt again himself, he continued with an amused tone, pointing a finger at her with a dummy grin.

"That's indeed a super surprise..! I feel like I am now in debt with you."
He had to be dead honest tonight, he never felt this way with anyone, and he was kinda happy and glad to be with someone that could make his feelings twist in this way.

Her compliment on his own attire made him blush for a moment, but he remained cool and composed.

"I've decided to wear the best western clothes that my father bought me before entering the Academy, glad that you like those." He thanked in delight and with a hint of flatterness as he adjusted the collar a moment with a clumsy gesture.

The previous inquiry stole from him another grin, this time a little more playful. He'll do his best to don't disappoint or offend her, they're going to have not only a good time and literally their first date, but also a dance to remember.

"And... yes, I do have one more wish." He answered positively with a nod.
He stretched out his hand toward her in one sleek move and bowed a little his head, rightfully being a little gentleman for her.

"Shall we dance?"

Kayoko looked at the scene from afar and almost teared up for happiness, proud for seeing his brother finally happy with someone of his age and with someone she trusts too.

"Inori.. there's no way this can possibly work," quivered the voice of a budding diplomat who'd gotten themselves in too deep with dance plans.

There was a very good, very simple reason why the elder Todo sibling was a bundle of nerves about this event. In the midst of excitement that came with forming plans for it, there had been a bit of double booking. If it was just that Azai Kaori - a clan princess Shinsuke had been building up the nerve to ask out - was here, that would be manageable. Maybe if it were just that Junko's domineering mother were in town and that Junko needed a pal to help deal with it, that'd be fine too. Problem was that the latter had been a plan first and Shinsuke had gotten himself caught up in ensuring they were well prepared for the dance. To the point that now it wasn't Todo Shinsuke, but rather his alter ego Todo Mikoto, who was standing on the threshold of the big dance. 'Mikoto' trembled at the thought of even going inside with the loud music playing there and.. Kaori inside. No way was she going to accept that they were the person who'd asked her out. A nudge to the side reminded them of their own little sister's presence.

"Miko-nee, it's all right. Sure this' a little complicated, but we'll figure somethin' out," Inori grinned as she stepped toward the door, "Kaori-chan wouldnta come all the way here to turn ya away. 'Sides, ya look fantastic!"

With a playful wink and a sweeping bow, Todo Inori opened the door wide so that the pair she was escorting could enter the dance. Unlike most of the girls they'd seen in passing so far Inori had elected to wear a sharp tuxedo with a red necktie. Her hair was pulled back in a braid and with those white gloves she thought she looked every part dashing. This unconventional choice had been in part to compliment Mikoto's silver dress with frosty ice blue bolero and a fancy silver choker as accessories. A bit of makeup and straightening of that usually somewhat unkempt hair and 'Mikoto' was ready for the dance. Junko also being in a nice dress drove home the need for dashing accompaniment.

"Uh.. th-thanks," came the elder sibling's response as, with a blush, they stepped through the door alongside Junko.

Immediately they were assaulted by the bright lights and loud sounds of a party already underway. While they'd been to social events with many people before, Mikoto wasn't used to this sort of gathering. Usually events the Todo attended were more conservative in atmosphere; the music alone was a shock to the system. More so the volume than the style itself, but combined with their pre-existing nerves it made Mikoto wonder how long they'd last in here. Inori on the other hand was jovially striding alongside the pair without a care in the world. Her smile was as big as ever.. and she found herself moving in time to the music's beat.

"So.. um.. Ko-chan.. how about some snacks?" Mikoto asked, nervous about being spotted by the high level guests already at the dance. They were close enough to the refreshments that it wouldn't take very long to partake in them. Maybe something cool to drink would ease their nerves a bit.

Meanwhile Inori spotted someone and remarked, "Ya ladies wait here, I've got somethin' to do really quick."

There were only a couple of things she'd been planning to run off and do on her own tonight. Most of it was going to be spent looking after Junko or Mikoto, so she hadn't asked anyone out. If the opportunity struck, though, she'd try to talk to that Scion.. er.. Inheritor.. of Lu Bu when she arrived. Such a powerful woman.. she was already amazing without Inori having had the chance to do much more than gawk. The other thing she'd planned on was if she spotted Kaori first - maybe it'd help lay the ground for the encounter that would eventually happen. Sure enough it seemed that Kaori was here, as Shinsuke had arranged for before he'd realized the double booking. With another polite bow she left her wards and strode over to introduce herself. Or, maybe, re-introduce herself.

"Azai Kaori-san, it's a pleasure to meetcha.. er.. meet you.. at my first Bugei dance!" she announced with the dramatic flourishing bow she'd practiced so much the past few days. As she raised up she asked, "It's been a while, ne? Ya look lovely! How was the trip to Edo?"

Kurome arrived at the dance a bit early, and was surprise to find that some other students had the same idea. Luckily it wasn't too many, so she was able to scope out the area for a bit while meandering around the area with a glass of punch. The girl was here on personal business, personal business related to the school, and to the future of Edo.

She arrived just in time to see the band setting up, and listening to their sound check. The band was interesting, more in the range of what Kurome enjoyed listening to on her, now rare, time off. She had arrived to the dance in a very ruffly, flowy ruby red gown, that trailed down the floor. It was a shapely, low cut dress, that showed off her curves, but also allowed for flexibility of movement. She had spent a while curling her long purple hair. She wanted to look the part, despite not coming to the dance for fun purposes. The girl had tied and equally curly bow in her hair, made with the finest lace and pinned to her head with some flowers she picked on the way to her dorm room. Over her arms she decided to wear silken red gloves. The girl also wore a red masquerade mask. It wasn't that she didn't care who saw her, in fact she'd rather have preferred it, but due to certain circumstances regarding the safety of her family and friends, she decided to keep her identity concealed for now. Though, anyone who was close friends with the elite would know who she was, based on her distinguishable multicolored red and purple eyes. Red seemed to be her color scheme for the evening... for a good reason.

user posted image

Not so visible to the eye would be her relic, a demon mask that she currently had strapped to her outer thigh. On her other leg she had strapped her short sword, choosing to replace her normal double bladed staff with something more concealable. She hoped, in bringing her two most important items in a concealed fashion, that she would be able to get into the dance. Especially considering she was an elite. She hoped Keiichi had spoken to Yagyu-sensei as well as the other 'guards' of the dance, in allowing her an exception in coming in. After all, it was her duty to protect the school. And during big events, something bad always seemed to happen...

And she always ended up having to step in and control the situation somehow.

So here she was, sipping on the punch provided, nodding her head to the catchy beat, watching the students slowly trickle in to have a good time. Here she was, standing against the wall, keeping tabs on anyone that entered that she was not familiar with, and keeping a closer eye on the ones she did recognize. Here she was, watching, waiting.

The lights were very well programmed, spinning, turning, and flashing in time to the beat that the band was playing on stage. She thought it interesting, as she took a sip, that they managed to somehow make the lights work with the music, even though the music was live. The girl vaguely wondered if the music was pre-corded, but only for a moment. She was alone in the corner, sipping punch, watching everyone carefully, but she didn't mind. The only she did mind is that she was not spending her time here at the dance with Iziuki Kai. The last she heard of him was at the battle against the Koga. Since then, he had seemingly disappeared. She had been upset over his disappearance at first. She knew he wasn't dead, but she also knew that he would've at least said goodbye. Kurome had spent many a restless night wondering if he had just ghosted her...
The girl had since then come to terms with absence.

Yet here she was, finding herself wondering about him once more..

The girl exhaled quietly and resumed her lookout, making sure there was nothing...strange... going on.

A dance was a magical place where dreams could be raised and a vision could last a lifetime. It was a place where love could be found, if only for a moment, but the right moment could last the rest of your life. Jugemu's heart pounded in her chest, this was the greatest chance to take that special person in your life and share a magical moment of intimacy and privacy, the kind only found in a crowded room. The privacy of romance, when all that matters is your partner's touch. It was perfect, all except for the fact that Jugemu was stag.

She'd met so many cute people as of late and yet she was still alone, frankly it was starting to feel like there was something wrong with her to be dumped by so many. Her most recent choice of affection had decided he wanted to go with somebody else and would no longer be able to make it to this dance, or any others in the near future. It was a shame, she'd already rented this dress and it had a non refundable deposit. Such was life. She musn't be seen sulking, she was a teacher after all, sort of. She had to set a good example for her students.

Oh, but the dress, it was so lovely. The western theme had been unexpected but it was amazing to see what kinds of styles and variations there were. She felt like a layer cake come to life. A gorgeous pink taffeta dress with cute flowers added on and an airy pink shawl to cover her shoulders. If only she'd had somebody to appreciate it. Instead she hung back on the edges of the room with the other school staff who weren't playing guard duty.

But her status as not quite teacher also made her feel a bit awkward around them too. It wasn't as if she was going to dance with them, most of them were far too old. Not to mention that she didn't approve of a select few. They were far too stuffy and didn't enjoy dessert nearly enough. People who didn't like a good meringue weren't to be trusted, that was simply common sense. Oh well, there were plenty of confections here at the dance, perhaps she could become acquainted with them later on. Then the night wouldn't be a total loss.

This whole thing was stupid. Kire also sulked but he did it among the tables that had been set out, having managed to get one all to himself for now. He had already finished the punch that he'd gotten but felt pessimistically sure that the moment he got up, one of the giggling groups of guys and girls would swoop in and claim his table for their own annoying ends. He had come because it had seemed like the thing he was supposed to do. Some of his friends might even be there. And yet, they seemed to have picked up dates.

Not that it was some crazy event, he had so few friends that it didn't take that many available girls to drain his pool of friends to just Kire. Not to mention the guys who were friendly enough to put up with him were friendly enough to have a far better class of friendly girls to draw attention. Kire regretted showing up, it just reminded him that he'd managed, in his long career of being a guy, to rack up one ex-girlfriend who now despised him. It wasn't exactly a stellar record, but at least he had his swords, nobody was going to beat them. The thought wasn't exactly a reassuring condolence prize.

He hadn't even been able to bring them around with him. Western, bah. What idiot thought that was a good idea. Japan was good enough, didn't need all this extra foreign stuff pretending it did things better. It was worse than the French people at the restaurant and their terrible attempts at okonomiyaki. He'd put the bare minimum effort into following the dress code.

He'd looked up what the hell the suit was supposed to look like and then gone and got one that looked like the pictures. Black slacks, black socks, black shoes, black jacket, white shirt, black tie. Hell, he'd even gotten the damn black top hat. He felt like a cartoon character, or maybe some crime family thug. But he was damned if he'd have a cane. What a stupid thing that was. Oh well, at least his sunglasses matched the theme. Although that didn't help his cartoon character image any.

A ball could be a terrifying prospect to one who wasn't quite prepared for it, but Junko was confident in herself. After all, everybody else was as unfamiliar with western customs as she was. Her mother had not trained her for this sort of thing, it had all been Japanese behaviors. Well she wouldn't worry, and there was somebody else who needed a rock steady hand beside them, her best friend Mi-chan. "I told you, Mi-chan, you didn't have to go this far. I'm just happy you came with me at all." When Shin had come to her panicked about the date, Junko hadn't realized what the problem was.

On one hand, she was thrilled that Mikoto was there and willing to go so far to provide support while Junko's mother was terrorizing the area with her tyranny. On the other, the last thing Junko wanted to do was cause trouble for her friend's romantic adventures. After all, it was a good step for her to come out and confess to Kaori, Junko thought that was very brave. And it wasn't as if Junko would be alone, Inori was there, cutting such a handsome figure in her suit. It was very cute on her, she wore it like she had been born to do so.

Junko was quite pleased with what she'd ended up in as well. Her mother had been responsible for most of it, giving out tips and helping her shop, not to mention paying. Junko was pretty sure that her mother had been so happy to see her wanting a dress that she could have gotten something even more expensive. But that would be impolite. Junko's dress was slightly adjusted with a dark sash to emphasize her hips that she had rather than the breasts that she did not. The dark blue and black dress was meant to compliment Mikoto. They were, after all, a pair and best friends to boot. Her hair had been trimmed up nicely at the salon and had several jeweled clips pinned in it. The sash also contained her artifact stitched up inside it.

"Snacks would be nice." Junko replied to Mikoto. "Don't take too long Inori, you shouldn't abandon your chaperone duties so quickly." She said as her sort of date walked off. But she had lots of dates tonight, friend dates, specifically. It wasn't like she was dating anybody really. She didn't even know anyone who could make her fall in love, heck, she wasn't sure what love was. As they walked to the snack table. Junko kept stopping to say hello and gush about outfits with the incredibly large number of people she seemed to know and be on first name basis with. But she also pushed on, making sure they didn't spend too long in one place to keep Mi-chan from getting nervous or antsy.

A war zone would be less of a stressful place for Bu. There were so many people around and they were all so prim and proper. And she was just Bu. She was still better than all of them, obviously, because bikes and the punk life and all that, but she was going back into a world that she had left a long time ago. A world of costume and drama and carefully cultivated appearances. It had literally been years since she last dressed up in anything as classy and clean as the dress code demanded. When she first heard about the dance, she planned to blow it all off. And then everything changed.

Jiao had made her feel things she hadn't felt in a long while, pain mostly, excitement, and weirdest of all, embarrassment. Bu had been embarrassed of all her little flaws and foibles. She didn't like that feeling. But she also felt some weird desire to impress Jiao. None of it made sense. Well, whatever the reason for it was, she was going to put on the best damn performance of her life. So what if she was rusty, so what if the last time she's cleaned up so well it was to be used and tossed aside. She was different now, she was stronger, she was dangerous. No dirty old man was making her do it now, she was doing it because she had the power. She'd teach Jiao who was the alpha biker bitch around here.

Her mind really was starting to mix up metaphors and motivations. But whatever the core was, it had driven Bu to make some calls to people she hadn't talked to in a long, long time. They weren't exactly happy calls. But she'd ended up reconnecting with Tomo who was still working in the idol business. It had been last minute, but Bu had begged and pleaded and even apologized, things she hadn't done with such sincerity in ages. Finally, Tomo offered to help Bu get ready for the dance. It had been a long and awkward trip. Sitting in a studio again filled her with a kind of nostalgia and also a sick feeling. She was glad to be out.

Tomo had gone off the deep end with the idol clothes and options, but Bu wasn't interested in going ostentatious. She wanted to make a statement, a very pointed statement. She wanted something simple, sleek, elegant, like a motorcycle through two am streets. Or a sword through the chest. Or a very good dress. There went her mind again. But eventually they'd found the perfect thing. It was time Bu revealed what was under her normally grease and exhaust covered exterior, showed what she could have been.

Bu walked in wearing a dark green dress. It had layers and the outline of her legs could be seen through the bottom if the light hit it just right. The top was thicker, what little top there was. Her front was covered but her back, shoulders, arms, and hands were bare to the world. Her long blonde hair hung freely, silken and smooth against her bare back with only the jade comb as ornament. What was notable was that it hid none of her faded burn scars. They rose from just above both her elbows up to and around her shoulders, dipping down towards the small of her back and fading completely before they met at the middle.

Bu made her way inside and set about finding Jiao. She didn't care about anyone else, none of these people cared about her when she was her normal self, why should she give them attention now. Though she did spare a dismissive glare to any men who thought they might request a dance. The scum always floated to the top.

NPC POST: CHINESE STUDENT ARRIVAL

The school was done up like a beautiful Western style school dance. The perfect place for students to unwind and get to know one another better. This was true not only for the natural Japanese student, but for the Chinese students as well! In the common area of the school dorms the Japanese group leader, Head Teacher Sun Yi Huang waited in a beautiful gray and purple western style suit for his students. He had a monocle on and beautiful white gloves. Relaxing on a couch he pulled out a silver pocket watch and waited for the students. Generally he expected the female students to take longer to get ready, however, as he looked back at the doors to the boys and girls dorms it was the women that showed up first.

The first to show up was Yiting Deng. Her serious expression and long black hair flowed down her back. She was wearing a long, tight fitting dark blue dress one wouldn't have expected from her. The dress had a beautiful open back halfway down and every inch of the dark blue sparkled as light reflected off of it. Their was no way the dress was cheap. However, the beautiful Western style blue dress looked radiant on her. Following behind her was Jiao Meili in a beautiful, bright red Cheongsam with a golden collar. Her hair was washed and radiant and she didn't look like the normal combat focused girl that she normally came off as. Crossing her arms and making a scowl she looked at the Head Teacher.
"Idk what is taking Fangyuan so long. I told her to hurry three times." she said in Chinese. Next to her Yiting, the clearly more collected of the two, gave a polite bow to the Head Teacher.
"She said she needed more time sir."

As the Head Teacher sighed a bit and looked at his watch the door to the boy's dorm opened. Two men came out in western style tuxedos. The first was Chao Guang, in a beautiful dark green tuxedo with gold trim. He had a matching dark green eye patch over his left eye. Behind him, his hair in a formal top knot and wearing a light green suit was his bodyguard Fair Cheng. Oddly enough, the boy didn't have his trademark spear with him. In fact none of the students had weapons. After the two walked up to the Head Teacher and gave a polite bow the men's dorm doors burst open. Wearing a golden and blue hanfu with a phoenix in golden running down the back of it was Yiting's lord, Zihao Man. Walking up to the Head Teacher he had an extremely arrogant smile on his face.
"Let us show them what true Chinese nobility looks like." he said, much to the clearly distaste of Fair Cheng.
"We could not show off." he said bluntly. Though Zihao simply scoffed.
"Ridiculous. I will show them all." as even Yiting sighed the doors to the girl's dorms slowly opened. Walking out slowly in a beautiful white and pink female hanfu was the group's strategist Fangyuan Yen. Her hair was done up in two dark buns and she gave a deep, traditional bow.
"I am ready." the girl said quietly. The entire group, the Head Teacher included, gazed at the girl. She had clearly taken a long time to apply bright red lipstick and beautiful face powder to give her a perfectly white complexion. No one would have recognized her as the headphone wearing girl from the boat.

Smiling at his group the Head Teacher nodded.
"Well then, let us be off." and shortly after, the Chinese delegation entered the dance. Many of the Edo students stared at the group in shock as Yiting stayed close to her lord Zihao, and Jiao gave a cocky smile, knowing how beautiful she must look to them. It was undoubtedly going to be an amazing night.

Hoshi quietly walked in and looked around. She had taken longer than she would've liked finding a modest kimono that didn't get to close to her neck and finally just opted for a simple white long sleeved dress with purple flowers on the hem.

She chose flats over the death trap known as high heels and of course had her relic hidden under her sleeve, "I don't see him."

"of course you don't you idiot girl. You need to be able to see over everyone." She walked to a chair and stood on it. Looking about, she saw a familiar head and excitedly climbed down and walked towards Zihao. She bit her lip as she used her relic to Blinkstep towards the group. Her small size making it easy to get close without a problem.

She stepped up behind Zihao, "I'm glad to see you made it, Zihao-san." She bowed as she spoke, her voice barely making normal conversation level. Hoshi hoped the others in the delegation wouldn't be mean to her about that, though most people seemed to be rather understanding since it wasn't like the scar on her throat was hidden.

RPC POST: Tagami Yumiko and Katayama Masato

She twirled around her room a bit. A well lit Edo Bugei dorm room, a stark contrast with the dark evening sky outside. Tagami Yumiko, one a shy poet girl who had fallen deeply in love with the now deceased Elite student Kajiwara Masumi, was now on her own. Yet, she had grown stronger. Since Masumi's passing she had made new friends, written more poetry without him checking her work, and even decided to change from the poet track to the medic track to make sure people as sick as Masumi would hopefully never have to die like that again. She still had her pale skin, short black hair, large eyes, beautiful lips, and short stature, but inside Tagami Yumiko was like a whole new girl from the one that had cried when Masumi had passed away over a year ago.

Yet, she still felt a bit sad as she looked back at the wooden bird on her desk.
"I miss you, Masumi. I wish, we could have attended this dance together." she said in a voice that anyone would be able to tell was heartbroken. Looking in the mirror she had on a beautiful blue dress that matched her pale skin quite well. Their was nothing particularly special about the dress, since it was a cheap rental. However, it certainly made her look lovely. Grabbing a small, gray colored pouch, since having a messenger bag over a dress would look strange, she left the girl's dorm to attend the dance.

Inside the dance hall her already large eyes went wide. Everyone around seemed to be enjoying themselves, and being in awe at all of the decorations. She saw many familiar faces, and even the Chinese students. On stage a very lively rock song was being played and some of the crowd was jumping and cheering. By all accounts it was a beautiful night, and she was a beautiful girl. Yet sadly, tonight, Yumiko stood as a girl alone.

*****************************************************

He walked into the dance with a bright smile on his face. Masato had no qualms about his breen tuxedo that matched his eyes perfectly, nor about the fact that he didn't have to rent it since he had one in his closet for meeting with foreigners. With no swords by his side, nor hidden weapons, nor even book the strategist third year smiled happily as he entered the main school building. His brownish red hair, colored for the evening, was combed back and his athletic yet slim looking figure made his suit fit quite well.
"Ladders, and at least three people." he said out loud, all be it in a low voice, as he looked at the decorations. He thought to himself how some of the students could even achieve angles like that without the use of scion powers, given how beautifully but strangely some of the decorations had been placed.

Walking towards the dance hall he saw Yagyu-sensei and gave a deep bow.
"Good evening, Sensei." he said as he quickly showed off that he had no weapons on his person before entering the dance hall. All he had in his pockets where a cell phone, a wallet, and some breath mints. Looking around the room seemed even more elaborate than the entrance hall. On stage the famous band "Sen-Gen" was playing. While he didn't really like their name he couldn't deny the music was great, and he quickly chose to join some of the other students in jumping around and enjoying himself. In his head, however, he tried taking note of all of the faces around him. So many new students, both foreign and domestic, had come to Edo Bugei recently and he had no intention of losing track of, or losing information on, a single one of them.
"Now if only Izuki Kai would make an appearance." he said to himself in a low voice, a rather deadly smile appearing upon his face.

Looking over he noticed someone he saw with Izuki Kai a few times in the past. Someone he heard had fought a group of ninja attacking Edo, named Kurome, and in his head the various gears that powered his plotting began to turn.

A western dance was the theme of the evening and largely unheard of. A lone blonde left the dorms and paused to straight her dress a bit and check the contents of a slim clutch purse in her hand. By the look on her face, as somewhat difficult to find emotion under the restraints of noble upbringing, the young lady seemed wistful, disinterred, and fleeting to depart. Their attention appeared to be held toward the dorms briefly before the clicks of her heels brought her away toward the dance.

This evening's weather held a bit of promise. Hardly a cloud or two and no forecast of rain when this season tends to threaten the notion of clear skies. Mika stared ahead though in making her way without an escort but not with a friend either. Unlike most students who had a love or wanted to show how rich they are, Mika didn't require any of those. Instead the lone Honda made requests. For example, her dress is but a result of a request. Having little idea on how to dress herself for the occasion did the matter felt trivial to her main goals. So in part did she ask the home ec. club to ask what should she wear and pick whatever they choose for her. A doll doesn't dress itself after all after playing the part for them. The end result made her like a frosted fairy after meeting the request of something light and western style with her hair left loosely styled to sway at the slightest breeze.

She passed the guards stationed near by and crossed the red carpet for the hall where music already played. Their muffled tones and the reverb of the bass knocked on the doors of the auditorium. Holding a clutched purse as she entered, the blonde with staring eyes arrived late and unattended to the dance. Her somewhat blank, doll like face searched about the room to scope out who did show up to this event and where to start heading to avoid certain patrons. Keeping a high and frosted air to match her dress, Mika strolled to the where the punch bowl for some light refreshments and a place to sit a moment. It has been a long way for her this evening.

Back in the dorms Eiji took one last long drag off of his cigarette before flicking it out of his trashcan. He took a look at himself in the mirror on his wall before grabbing a bottle of cheap cologne and spraying it on himself to cancel out the smell of cigarettes.
He took one last look at himself. His hair was spiked up in a fauxhawk as usual, but it looked a little better in the flashy (but cheap) Red suit he had bought the day before. Really he was lucky they even had any suits in stock as every one had been buying them up for the occasion. He reached over to his nightstand and grabbed his sunglasses and put em on. Sure he might look like a jackass for wearing sunglasses indoors, at night, but he felt naked without them. And with that he was off.

A short walk later he had arrived, fashionably late of course. In truth he hadnt planned on attending. But after a quick phone call he had recived from Mika things changed, now she told was going, which was fine and dandy but right after that she also said she expected to see him there. Eiji honestly couldnt tell if it was a command or a request, but he didnt want to dissapoint. He arrived at the doors and was stopped by the guards. "Ah Sakuma-san actually attending an extra circular event? Color me surprised! Search him" The gaurd said as they padded him down. Eiji had a few choice words he wanted to blurt out at this asshole but if he did he would be 'kindly escorted out' and he had no doubt about it someone might give him hell about it. So he kept his trap shut. After being given the all clear he was let inside. Odd looks all around from the asshat wearing sunglasses indoors but they could kiss his ass for all he cared. After scanning the area he saw a familar girl near a table and made his way to her. As he approached Mika he held up a half asses salute to her before saying. "Private Sakuma first class reporting for assignment" with a playful smirk on his face.

RPC POST: Azai Nobuyori and Azai Kaori

Azai Nobuyori, future lord of Omi, was in a situation he never expected. Currently the Prince was forced to stand outside his own dorm room, in the hall, like a common vagrant looking at the ceiling. It was finally the night of the school dance he had been nervously waiting for and yet here he was in Azai pajama pants and a shirt, and wooden sandals. Currently all he wanted to do was go back into his own room and change, but the door was locked and he was under immediate threat of execution if he entered.

Inside his room was a monster. A real life demon that he feared more than when he fell from the top of the school building during the earthquake. A demon so strong that it probably could have destroyed the entire Ikko army by itself. The most terrifying thing on Earth. Inside his room was a Princess, his little sister, Azai Kaori, getting ready for a dance! He knew Kaori was making sure every little fold of her dress was perfect, her hair, her jewelry, everything and to do so he had commandeered her brother's room. She had arrived a few hours ago, the sibling's bodyguard Yamazaki saying he was going out on the town until the dance was over. Shortly after talking with Nobuyori, Kaori had ruthlessly kicked her older brother out of his room. Sighing a bit he waited for what felt like hours until finally his door unlocked and a cute voice on the other side said.
"You may have your room back now!"

Opening the door he saw his little sister, unsurprisingly with no Azai crest anywhere on her outfit. The princess of the Azai with her athletic, slim body and light brown hair was in a beautiful dress.

The dress was light blue and form fitting but not overly revealing. After all she was a Princess that would soon be dancing with a Prince. To be specific Todo Shinsuke. Her brother smiled at his little sister.
"You look beautiful." he assured her. The young girl smiling wide but looking at her brother and laughing a bit.
"Are you sure it isn't weird, me dancing with Shinsuke?" she asked. After all it was her brother's childhood friend. Nobuyori rolled his eyes a bit. It had been a while since he had to accept the two had feelings for each other. Moving over to look at his own dance outfit he shook his head.
"It isn't bad, I'm over it. Though, their is one thing you could do for me, one thing that would help a lot." as he said it his little sister went wide eyed.
"Of course! Anything!" then with an over dramatic sigh Nobuyori walked over towards the entrance to his dorm room and gazed up at the ceiling of the hallway, pointing.
"That is how you can help me." he said, looking at his little sister right next to him.
"How?" she asked, confused. Then she suddenly felt her older brother's hand on her back pushing her out into the hallway. She turned around just in time to see her brother smiling, closing and locking the door as his little sister pounded on the door calling him a series of names.

Laughing on the other side of the door Nobuyori went and changed into his outfit. It was a beautiful tuxedo. Going to his dresser he pulled out something he had custom ordered. Azai clan crest cufflinks. He was quite proud of the subtle tribute to his clan as he put them on. Taking almost as long as his little sister, being a Prince and a bit of a diva about his looks, he went out into the hall. Locking his room from the outside he nodded at his sister and with that the Azai siblings went off to dance!

Arriving at the dance, it was truly beautiful. Everyone Nobuyori could think of had come to the beautifully decorated room. Looking around Nobuyori decided it was best he hurry and try to find Suishoku. Looking at his little sister he said confidently
"If anyone hits on you then Shinsuke and I will take care of them." he said, making a decidedly overprotective big brother face. A face that made Kaori look at him like he was stupid.
"Uh huh, sure. Go find Suishoku-san!" she said, sticking her tongue out at him. She knew it was the only thing her brother wanted to do. With that the siblings smiled at each other as a girl Kaori hadn't seen in some time came up to her.

Naturally Nobuyori felt a bit ignored but Kaori smiled and started a natural conversation, moving away from Nobu so he was free to go find his girlfriend.
"It has been a while!" Kaori said cheerfully as they moved towards a different part of the room.
"The trip to Edo wasn't bad, but it was pumpy. The train needs work. I was so worried my dress would be ruined!" she said with a dramatic, pouting face.
"Are you doing well? Is Shinsuke here already?" she was quick to ask.

It was getting late and the Elite student was rushing a little to the dorms with a black bag over her shoulders as if she's carrying a body. "I shouldn't have slacked off on those things." Medical track student Yuubae Suishoku scurried to the girl's dorm to throw off her school uniform to get herself cleaned up and ready. The cause of this rushed manner was a multitude of events actually, dress rental fees and stuffed into the train for evening rush hour but this all stemmed from putting off the paperwork in exchange for dancing practice with Nobu at the office. While the experience was worthwhile and did help fend off a few gitters, this didn't help at all with the backlog that started to pile up a little. Reports from the coastal and southern areas of Japan came in with the wave of students returning from their missions to attend to the dance. Her usual paperwork stack doubled over night which got her into a minor delay in fleeing the office to pick up the dress.

Hastily hanging up her uniform and running through the shower in her dorm room, she resorted to tying up half her hair in a bun with two longer strands hanging down to shoulders where her hair curled slightly from the fresh shower. After rushing so much to dry off and then apply light skin make up to make her seem less oiled from running around, Suishoku took a look at herself in the vanity with some intrigue of the turn out. "This...doesn't look that bad at all," she mused at herself. Since she mustered the courage to try a bikini style during Kurome's birthday party then this party dress was cake walk. "A shame you're pricey enough as is." The whole thing is a rental and only worn maybe twice in the initial fitting. It had patterns on the inner lining and hugged around her chest and wait. A long slit partially folded fabric and pinned from her hip showed up to her knees with orange shades of a festive cheer on the inside and the other the elegance of a koi fish. Donning on the arm gloves, necklace and carnation hair piece as the final pieces was Suishoku feeling satisfied with herself and headed out to the dance.

"Hope I'm not too late. Who else would be there already," she whispered and checked herself even as she walked toward the dance hall. A phone call nor text wasn't received from Nobu so she assumed to have been busy getting himself ready. Already she assumed he sneaked in his Azai jacket somehow. Having her mind set as his jacket being the trait to pick him out of a crowd, Suishoku smiled and arrived to enjoy the night.

Inside the hall was as bright and colorful to the point of being less recognizable as an area for sparring and rainy day announcements. Purple strobe lights made the ceiling as if filled with stars. In awe of the appeasing set up and the crowd of people dressed so colorfully and dancing, she wandered the crowds lightly in search for her date; unawares that he wasn't wearing his jacket tonight.

-

At the punch bowl, Mika filled up a cup and took a few tips to see if she even liked the drinks served or not. Of course the item was fruity and had odd lemon slices floating around like lily pads but it was something to hold odd. So far the infiltration of the dance had gone without much disturbance thus far. Couples swapped or hopped weirdly on the dance floor areas and others mingled to catch up and comment on dresses. The array of attire was also a curious thing to note of the different styles people adopted for the event. Some were very formal in suits and satin while others picked the more partying approach.

"They're all looking for a distraction in their lives," she muttered into her cup. Mika even saw Bu was in attendance. The look in her eyes meant they were on the hunt for someone. Even as she may have walked toward her direction for a moment did they shift and headed away toward the new arrival of Chinese students. Having to avoid one person was enough to make the girl find refuge in another drink of her punch.

"Private Sakuma first class reporting for assignment."

Mika's eyes flicked upwards to the sunglasses man before her with the mock salute and joking grin. Behind him were scowls and looks of disgust toward his punk attire. Unlike the other cocksure male that irked her, Sakuma was more tolerable. He was ever the odd one of cheer for someone that wears shades at night and ironic of their choice of dress off setting one another. She set her plastic cup down to hold with both hands like a high class tea of choice at the table. "Private first class Sakuma, at ease." The Honda played along gently. "You're earlier than expected." Having said this did her head turn toward the band and to the crowd as if indicating to them before addressing her vanguard of the evening. "How do you find this location?" Mika spoke calmly as the rock band on stage sang over the chatter.
