Hello! I wanted to see if anyone was interested in playing a character from Kōri's past. The character would be one of the heirs to the Matsudaira clan in Hokkaido. You can pick his first name, his appearance- you'd have relative free reign with the character, but these are some things that would have to be done:
- He'd have to be from the Matsudaira clan
- He'd have to have been privately tutored with Kori
- Kōri and him are in an arranged marriage type deal. He doesnt have to love her, in fact in her history it states that he doesnt openly display any actual romantic interest in her. You can change this, but it's up to you. I don't really mind either way
- You can have him be of any personality. Kōri is in love with him, but she could totally be blinded from someone's nasty personality because of this.
- You have free reign with his history for the most part. Four major events have to have occurred in it to work with Kōri's history. These being: Kōri and him being tutored together for years, him rescuing Kōri when she fell off the docks, Kōri rescuing him in the blizzard, and Kōri and him being betrothed to each other by their parents.
- It does mention that he had a crush on Kōri's older sister, but it also states that Kōri thought this over how he acted around her sister. So it's possible she misread the situation.
You can read about Kōri here
. If you're interested in the character, feel free to hit me up on this thread, through PM or poke me in the chat box.
EYES: Dark Blue
BODY TYPE: Lean and muscular
Hailing from the north, Kōri's style of dress leans heavily to clothes that cover herself completely. This includes jackets, tights, scarfs and double layered items. She seems to prefer neutral colors over anything bright and vibrant. Most of her clothes are brown, black or gray. The most colorful things people will ever see Kōri wearing are cool winter colors such as blue or purple. During her time away from Hokkaido to attend school, Kōri will most always wear her school uniform. Kōri is also noted for always wearing black gloves and several interlining belts. These belts are actually a series of supports for various hilts and weaponry. All of her clothing bares the Matsudaira Clan's crest in some fashion.
OTHER: Kōri has a large scar over her upper right chest.
Kōri was raised within the Hakodate military fort. As a result, the girl spent the majority of her life in a very harsh and militaristic environment. Due to this, Kōri holds a very no nonsense attitude towards missions and her school work. She's a very hardworking girl who believes in devoting herself one hundred percent to her current task. An instant dislike for those who don't take things seriously can be seen in Kōri. She spends almost all of her time training harshly with her relic and other skills. Over all, she's a very serious girl. Kōri wasn't raised in an environment where she could openly express herself, so she has difficulties doing so. Her childhood environment was very formal and militaristic, leading to the girl appearing frigid.
However, despite her serious and stern appearance, Kōri is kinder than she appears. She'll never leave an ally behind, and the girl would fight to the death to protect those around her. While Kōri's very good in emergencies and capable of remaining calm in extreme situations, she ends up panicking in small day to day situations that she's never experienced. Some examples include, being calm in a battle they're outnumbered in versus panicking over spilling a drink on someone's shirt and running off in embarrassment. She's also fairly forgiving. Kōri doesn't hold grudges, nor does she take anything personally. She understands that as a warrior, her first duty is to her clan. Because of this, Kōri understands that others have their own loyalties. She doesn't take betrayals as personal as others may. However, should a close friend were to betray her, Kōri would be shaken by this, but as soon as the friend posed a threat to her clan, she would strike down hard.
Kōri is extremely humble as well. She sees herself as a blade in the service of the Matsudaira clan. The girl may have powerful abilities and be skilled, but she never sees herself as anything but one of many defenders of her country. As a result, she holds a dislike for those with haughty or prideful personalities. Kōri is extremely subdued in her day to day life and dislikes loud boisterous displays. Bright colors and loud music bother her as well. However, despite appearing rather prudish, these things simply bother her due to having never been exposed to them. Kōri doesn't hold a hatred for these things, she just isn't use to them.
The last thing anyone would expect from someone as cut and dry as Kōri is for her to be a teenager in love. Kōri is in love with her betrothed who doesnt seem to think of her as anything other than a childhood friend. He is in love with her elder sister who is much more feminine than herself. Because of this, she's been recently trying to become more girlish to try and gain his attention. However, Kōri is aware of how silly it is for a warrior to be doing so, so she'll often try to do it in secret or have an excuse for why she's doing this. Kōri is actually a fairly normal teenage girl when it comes to matters of love or wanting to protect those she cares about.
STRENGTHS: Hardworking and Precise
WEAKNESSES: Over protective and Thoughtless in Regards to Her Own Safety
LIKES: Matsudaira-sama, training, food, sparring and snow.
DISLIKES: Hot weather, sleeping, crowds, loud music and bright colors.
AMBITIONS: Her outward ambition is becoming a warrior capable of making her family proud, but inwardly, her goal is to gain Matsudaira-sama's affections.
FEARS: Dying alone, not being able to protect those she cares about, spiders and drowning.

WEAPON: Kōri wields an Odachi that is over three feet in length with a simple polished black steel sheath. She uses the large ungainly sword for defensive and tactical strike purposes. The girl rarely draws the blade from it's hilt, using the hard steel casing as a blunt weapon to defend against attacks. Kōri's training seems to have focused on using the largeness of the blade to shatter enemy weapons or armor and to block blows. When on the offensive, Kōri utilizes a sweeping assault style that leaves little room for enemies to get close to her without risk of getting clipped by the blade. Her style is incredibly defensive.
RELIC: At first glance, the relic is nothing but a normal leather fan. However, once inspected closer, it is revealed to be a tessen with spokes are made of heavy plated iron that have been sharpened. The relic is two feet in length when closed. The fan's colorings are dark gray, steel, black and brown.
RELIC OWNER: Takeda Shingen
OWNER HISTORY: The tiger of Kai, Takeda Shingen was the leader of the Takeda clan whom exiled his own father and doomed his own child to secure his power. He was a brutal warlord who challenged many other clans. His reign was ended prematurely by an illness, but many believe he would have clashed with Oda Nobunaga and changed the course of history if he had survived.
ACTIVATED ABILITY 1: Kōri's first activated ability is a defensive shield. The shield takes the form of a large fan made of white energy appearing over her or who she wishes to protect that can absorb another weak activated ability or lessen the blow of higher abilities for one turn with a one post cool down. Once the shield absorbs the damage, it shatters. Kōri can summon the barrier to stay in front of her or in a fixed location until it's attacked and shatters. The cool down begins after the fan shatters.
ACTIVATED ABILITY 2: Kōri's second activated ability greatly increases Kōri's strength. This allows for her to jump when her first passive is active as well as move much faster at higher densities for three posts. This ability seems to counteract her passive ability, making it easier for her to move around with her higher density while also granting her enough strength to shatter concrete and tear at steel. When activated, Kōri's capable of moving slightly faster than she can normally without the first passive ability activated.
LOCKED ACTIVATED ABILITY 3: Kōri's third activated ability is known as the Temple of Toko. Historically, this is the temple that Takeda imprisoned his son for his plot to kill him. This ability imprisons her targets in a cube of white energy for two posts that can only be broken by an awakened level attack or two high powered ones. The cube can be activated around the battle field so long as it is within Kōri's range of sight. Only one cube may be activated at a time. The cube may entrap groups of people so long as they are next to each other.
PASSIVE 1: Kōri's passive is rather simple. The passive enhances her density along with that of her weapons or armor. The density at first is like that of hard wood, but as time passes, the density grows stronger and stronger until it's similar to steel. This takes several posts to achieve, with it taking nearly 5 posts for her to be as hard as steel. However, the moment the fan leaves her body, she is rubber banded back to her normal density which can cause nausea and exhaustion. Also, as her density and defense grows, as does her weight while her speed also decreases. When she is as hard as steel, her weight is equal to a large clump of steel her size. This means her jumping ability is greatly hindered, but she can still run and swing her sword. She also runs the risk of crashing through floors due to her greatly enhanced weight.
LOCKED PASSIVE 2: Kōri's second passive is of a different type of defense. When her ability is activated, she can hear liars and deceivers around her. She can hear the lies and deceptions of those around her and understand what the truth behind their lies are.
LOCKED Awakened Mode Color: Silver
AWAKENED ATTACK: When her awakened attack activates, Kōri can summon a large silver energy sphere around her with a special ability called The Revival of the Battles of Kawanakajima. However, she passes out shortly after activating it with the after effect being completely automatic. The sphere can be entered and left by those Kōri considers allies. The sphere acts an ultimate defense with it's ability being capable of absorbing all attacks aside from other Awakened abilities or several high powered attacks used at once. Whenever one of these attacks hits, the barrier cracks. The barrier can take up to five of these attacks before shattering. The barrier has a twenty foot radius with the center point being Kōri.

Kōri is the second daughter of the Sasaki family from Hokkaido. The Sasaki family has been a retainer family to the Matsudaira clan for over ten generations. Kōri's father had initially been waiting for a male to be born to begin training him as the next head of the Sasaki family, however, shortly after Kōri's birth, her mother grew ill and could no longer have anymore children. As such, Kōri was selected to be trained due to still being an infant. Her elder sister was already much older and unfit for training.
Kōri's oldest memories are of her sitting in her family's training room on the tatami flooring as her father taught the children of other families and clans, including the heirs to the Matsudaira clan. She joined in on the training at the age of four. Due to living within the star shaped fort of Hakodate, Kōri's upbringing was very militaristic. She didn't enjoy the same pleasantries other girls her age enjoyed in other towns across Japan. Instead, Kōri awoke every morning before the sun rose and began training and doing chores around the fort with the other children until long after the sun set.
When she wasn't doing chores, Kōri was engaged in heated training. The Sasaki family were renown for their brutal combat style. During the last war over a century ago, they had decimated armies in the icy and naval terrain. A good portion of Kōri's training consisted of sailing and water combat as well. The only break Kōri got from her chores or training was during her daily classes. Classes at Hakodate were done mostly by private tutors. Because they resided in a military fort, children were somewhat scarce. So, those of the same age group would be put together for private tutoring.
Kōri's only classmate was a prominent son of the Matsudaira clan. He was around her own age so for two hours every day, they studied together. Ever since she was young, Kōri had always held feelings for the son. He was kind to her and very helpful. She kept them quiet and focused on her studying and training, but due to how she was his age, the Matsudaira clan planned on having her raised along side him as a guard. As such, Kōri did her training with him constantly. Her feelings towards him were solidified when they were very young and she slipped from the docks. He rescued her by throwing her a rope and pulling her up to the surface. So, she always tried to stay near him except when doing chores. While he didn't do the same chores she did, he would often go looking for her to keep her company. He saw her as one of his best friends and nothing more, but Kōri was happy she got to spend time with him.
One day, while Kōri was out helping shovel snow, the son of the Matsudaira clan came looking for her to keep her company. However, before he could get to her, a freak blizzard blew into the town. The winds were so strong that hardly anything could be heard. Kōri had been taught to seek shelter immediately when these came in, but as the blizzard roared to life around her, she heard the sound of her name being called by her friend. He was out here in the blizzard. Filled with panic and worry, Kōri ran in the direction of his voice. She managed to get to him in time to push him out of the way of several boxes that were about to fall on top of him due to the strong wind. The boxes contained weaponry that had just been smith and were being sent elsewhere, but the blizzard kept the adults from moving them to a safe containment.
As a result of her actions, Kōri managed to keep her friend from harm, however, a blade from the box stabbed her through the chest. The two managed to survive the blizzard, but Kōri was in critical condition due to blood loss. She was kept in the hospital for over two weeks. Luckily, the blade missed anything vital, but it still left a deep scar. During her time in the hospital, her sister remained by her side, intent on making her as comfortable as possible. The son of the Matsudaira family also stayed by her side.
After Kōri was released, the Matsudaira family called the Sasaki family for a meeting. They displayed their gratitude as Kōri had saved their son's life at risk to her own. As thanks, they gave the family an old relic- an ancient tessen. It had originally been given to the Matsudaira family by the Sasaki's family's ancestors when they came to Hokkaido over three hundred years ago as a token of loyalty. The return of the tessen was a monumental display of kinship between the Matsudaira clan and the Sasaki family.
The two families would continue to be close as Kōri got older. She continued her training and even begun assisting her father in training the younger members of the Hakodate fort. However, as she got older, she saw less of her friend. He appeared to begin taking specialized courses for his future in the Matsudaira clan. On her sixteenth birthday, the Matsudaira family approached Kōri's father with a proposition. They wanted to take one of the Sasaki family as a bride for one of their son's. The family requested Kōri's hand in marriage to the son that she had saved years ago as a child. The Sasaki family hesitated for a moment, but they agreed to it.
At first Kōri was ecstatic. She was betrothed to the boy she had always admired and loved. However, soon, she realized that he did not care for her in the same way. He saw her only as a sister. His true passion was aimed towards her own elder sister. During Kōri's time at the hospital, when her sister never left her side, he met and fell in love with her. While her sister didn't seem to love him, she was respectful and he appeared to take that as her returning his feelings. Kōri could tell he had feelings for his sister from how he looked at her to how he spoke only of her. Still, despite the pain of being betrothed to him now that she knew he didn't love her, she kept quiet and carried on with her duties in training the next generation of Hakodate defenders with her father.
One day, Kōri was asked to clean the meeting room of the Sasaki family in place of her sister who was attending a tea ceremony with daughters of the Matsudaira family. The meeting room held the treasures of the family in view of those who came to meet with the Sasaki family. As she reached to carefully dust these treasures, something odd happened. When she came to the tessen returned by the Matsudaira family, Kōri felt an odd surge of power when holding it. The sensation was so overpowering that in a daze, she stumbled back to lean against the wall. Unfortunately, the wall caved under the girl for some unknown reason. Kōri was sent tumbling down two stories into the ground below into a rock garden of jagged stones. Her parents screamed and ran to her in worry, but when they got there, their daughter didn't even have a scratch on her.
It was more than apparent that Kōri was holding a relic in her hands. The tessen had been a relic. Almost immediately after activating the relic, Kōri was scheduled to be sent to Edo Bugei. Her relic was taken to be studied and identified before she was sent to the school. Through the study, it was revealed to be the tessen used by Takeda Shingen to defend against Uesugi Kenshin's blade in the Battles of Kawanakajima. This revealed the Sasaki family was descendants of the Takeda family. After being returned her relic, Kōri was sent to Edo Bugei. The Matsudaira clan seemed ecstatic. The future bride of their possible heirs was a relic wielder. She was going to be essential in bringing them more prestige.
When she arrived at the academy, Kōri found herself as a first year due to just barely arriving, but the girl is extremely skilled due to having been raised in a completely militaristic setting.
